Informed us at 11am to tell us the hotel was not available.....terrible

Room was clean but the toilet didn’t flush properly the hotel was getting a new roof so no tiles were on. Bar was miserable and dull food was bad wouldn’t stay here again

Booked 3 rooms in total for a 2 night stay. One room smelt of urine!
The reception tried to clean the bathroom and put air freshener in but even they said they could still smell it and apologised.
2nd room had a chinese takeaway left in the room under the dressing table. The room had not been cleaned and so moved us into a different room which now was a twin bed as could not offer a double room as only the bottom floor of the hotel was open due to a new roof being fitted.
Scaffolding all around the hotel. No one phoned me to inform me that the hotel was having repairs done to the roof and were we still happy to go?

Had a good stay. Polite helpful staff but none were around for checking in. Great room let down by long list of minor faults the worst being non locking bathroom window and non working lights. Bed was comfortable and a great picture of a Hare above it. Pleased to see a bath as well as a shower. Fantastic views from all round. Lots of scaffolding around as roof being replaced, so it was noisy for people on top floor.

We checked in quite late but only had one small towel and one large which we didn’t notice till the morning when going to take a shower. We also had no soap to wash our hands with so had to use the shower gel supplied instead.

Tired and tatty hotel, very much need of a refurbishment, rooms do not look like the photographs and not all advertised facilities were supplied. The bed was damp in the first room, second room bed was not much better, third room was just OK, poor lighting so couldn't read in bed. Breakfast disappointing. Staff were generally helpful but didn't make up for a poor stay. The requested damage deposit should have been a red flag.

The room had stained carpet and a lingering smell of urine...you can guess what the stains were.
The wallpaper was flaking off and the whole room was past it's best before date.
The service however was good. The receptionists were very friendly. And the bed was clean and comfortable.
Also the bathroom was clean with clean towels.

In a previous job, i used to stay here on a semi regular basis, and so it was nice to return to familiar surroundings when away for the night.
It was as i remembered, Lots of parking, a nice comfortable bed, quiet and a great breakfast, all bound together with great staff

We used to love this hotel buts its really in need of a refurbushment rooms very tatty especially around the sink and baths. It used to be a little gem of an hotel . Food is still really nice

When I arrived just after 11pm I was greeted with 2 unhappy guests that had luggage stolen from reception. The guy that was working was far from supportive which added further upset. This of course led to Police arriving. The room smelt damp and was extremely tired and worn. The bed was terrible with springs jabbing you in the back. The bathroom lacked complementary soap and the show screen had no seal on so the floor was completely flooded after I took a shower and I had to use all towels available to soak this up. On checking out the receptionist just took my room card and said nothing to pay with no care or concern.

This hotel is certainly outdated and in need of a refurbishment. That said the room was very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a lunch which was good with a selection for vegetarian and lovely puddings. This is an ideal place for walkers or cyclists who maybe on a limited budget but want privacy and a lovely warm bath at the end of a day on the Pennines.

What a setting, on top of the pennines, views are amazing. The staff were great. I had the best hotel breakfast I've had this year, cooked to order promptly.
Evening meal was a bit average and the menu somewhat unimaginative. Parts of the building are a bit tatty and could do with a facelift.

A pleasant hotel on the top of the hills. The service was very good. One morning my breakfast was delayed due to a conference and I was given that on the house. The room looked a bit worn but pleasant and comfortable enough. My only criticism was the £100 damages deposit that they ask for upfront. I have never been to a hotel that asks for that.

An unassuming exterior belies the traditional classic interior...which is a lovely change from the clinical looks in a lot of hotels nowadays. My room and ensuite were clean and ver nicely furnished. Eden on reception gladly answered my questions & well behaved dogs may be accommodated upon request. The breakfast was outstanding and all the staff were very friendly and helpful..I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Our stay was satisfactory. We thought the hotel rooms needed updating. Location was wonderful and great views even though it rained all the time we were there.

Nice hotel in a lovely setting. Would stay there again for sure. Could do with a bit of an update in some areas. You would have to drive if you didn't fancy eating in the restaurant/bar area though as nothing nearby.

Service was excellent and the staff were great.
However, cleanliness was not great such as dirty carpets in the bedroo and the sink having hair stuck in it. The room itself was really tired and and the undersink cupboard unit was falling apart as well as the dressing table unit in the bedroom where the drawer handles were not screwed in. It's a bit of a shame as I can see the potential the hotel has. Perhaps I was given the worse room.
