Incredible hostel.

Absolutely loved it. For a hostel I was definitely hesitant, but the service and cleanliness there was amazing. Recommend this place one hundred percent.

Clean, nicely organized hostel. For me, it was very quiet and comfortable (given that the beds are part of a small structure supporting 4 people in a room). Nevertheless, it was adequate with light and usb charging even though A/C power was only available from wall outlet which likely means an extension cord if you require it. Parking for vehicle is sufficient if you arrive before work day ends, otherwise, it could be a challenge.

A little out of the way, the area was quiet. A local friend pointed out some indicators that it was not the best (safest) neighborhood; I found it enjoyable and interesting. The service itself was fairly nonexistent - the owner rarely replied, it was difficult to find out how to use or locate anything; there were no TVs, furniture was extremely minimal, and the blinds let in the sunlight.

Nice new units, spacious room, furnished without any logic or consideration of the guest’s comfort or amenity: e.g. double bed (cot really, on a flimsy metal frame) with only *one* bedside table!? Huge mirrored walk-in wardrobe, *with NO coat hangers* !? Small balcony, but nil table nor chairs in the room. No TV at all; and the curtains were the opposite of ‘blackout’ - every morning at dawn light flooded the room, I didn’t have a decent night’s sleep my entire stay. There were no additional blankets or pillows either, nil contact with the owner, and very poor response from him. The kitchen was nice - large microwave, stove etc. - with negligible crockery or cutlery. Again, negligible contact with or from ‘management’ - the only redeeming feature was the lovely housekeeper.

The Normandie Hostel is a great spot, with clean rooms and a friendly vibe. The staff is super helpful, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. Plus, the location is super convenient for exploring the city.

I was greeted immediately by a guest who offered to help me with my bags & a staff member who confirmed my reservation. The area & house was clean. The bedroom has a privacy curtain for each bed. The kitchen had your basics except it didn't have a microwave. They do enforce quiet hours after 10pm, but even during the day it's pretty quiet. The neighborhood can be a little off putting to some, but it's down the street from the bus & if you drive it's in a central location to a lot of places (food & fun).

Bunk had USB port but no electric outlet to charge, luckily I had a cable adapter that worked. Bathroom was clean but trash can was overflowing when I arrived at 4 pm. The other girls in the room were loud, left their stuff everywhere and filled the entire closet. No locking cabinets or storage to put your stuff securely, just a closet that everyone shares so your stuff is never safe if unattended. Also, our room did not have a fan, people on balcony were smoking marijuana and it made our room reek like it. However, convenient location, very cheap, and I would stay here again if I was traveling very light. Definitely bring noise cancelling earplugs or headphones, and a USB charger. Also bring your own towel and pillow.
