Staff were helpful. Room was decent size with coffee machine. Very clean and modern. Close to everything.

The hotel was conveniently located. The shower has no storage for personal items. Parking and unloading was a challenge

The rooms are roomy with extremely comfortable beds (even the pull out couch) The staff could not be nicer and,as a nice touch, they give you a cell phone to use for local calls and texts. Finally, you can not beat the location. It’s right on the main shopping street and walking distance from pretty much everything in Reykjavík.

The front desk staff at the Alda were terrific. Each person who helped us was extremely helpful and successfully helped us figure out how to fit in all of the experiences we wanted. (Note: we travel independently and had not had an opportunity to book experiences ahead). Our only complaint is that our room was quite small and it was difficult to find a place to store our luggage so that it was not underfoot.

Very nice hotel. Everything was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. They stored our bags for us extra days while we were away as well. We had 2 nights here separated by 1 week. Our friends had a balcony where we could see the northern lights.

Very good location, clean rooms, excellent breakfast - I would stay here again! The hot tub & sauna were very nice, too.

When we checked in, we were handed a smartphone and told that was ours to use for the duration of our stay with unlimited data and that if the front desk needed to talk to us, or the reverse, that phone would be used. We dropped our stuff and headed out to eat dinner. While we were there, they called and said the taxi driver who brought us from the airport had called to see if we left something in his car. We were unsure, so said we'd check when we got back. It turned out that I *had* left a bag containing an iPad and a laptop in it. So, we called back and told them that. The taxi driver had waited and immediately dropped it off and I got my bag and electronics back. When I thanked everyone involved profusely for what they'd done, it was very clear that they thought of it as just the way they do things. This hotel is THAT kind of place.

Have stayed on different days and really enjoyed the balcony 4/F as have access to roof/balcony for quick access to see the northern lights ( not pitched black but convenient).

Great place to stay! Clean & hotel restaurant is one of our favorite places in town!

The staff were incredible with great suggestions for restaurants. The room was very clear and comfortable, but our room had a terrible view. The water pressure in the shower was very low and it took a while to get hot water. The restaurant is not associated with the hotel. We didn't eat any meals there, but the breakfast looked incredible. Getting a taxi to the rental car office took a long time, so be prepared for that. Despite these minor inconveniences, we had a pleasant stay and I would gladly go back here.

I liked this hotel but the only issue I would say that it does not have a parking lot making us to park at the street or at a parking garage and pay for it.

Overall, the stay was good. The beds were comfortable, the location was very convenient and the staff very friendly and helpful. The restaurant on site was great! The biggest downfall was the cleanliness of the room…there were dust bunnies everywhere and that didn’t change for the duration of our stay. Also, the room lacked storage - there were a few open cubbies/shelves but not one drawer or dresser in the entire room so we effectively had to live out of our suitcases for the full week, which in a tight space for three people was tough to manage.

Friendly Staff

Upon our arrival, we were informed that no rooms were available despite our confirmed reservation and arriving that morning at 7 am after departing the cruise ship to inform you of our plans to store our luggage and arrive later to check in. When we arrived that evening, we were subsequently directed to the Hilton Canopy.The reception at the Alda Hotel, informed us we had to also pay for our own taxi ride over to the Hilton, but would compensate us. The receipt was given to the desk agent at the Hilton, and to the present we have not seen a refund of $25.28 USD.

The room was very disappointing, especially for the price. Small with minimal amenities. Based on the photos of the lobby, the rooms did not live up to expectations.
