Gorgeous house, amazing host, beautiful view
The house and the surounding area is absolutely beautiful, full of history. The host is the absolute best, he gave us itineraries for day trips and was at our service whenever we needed, just an absolute delight of a human overall.
The location is not close to the center and public transport is not the best, so I would recommend choosing this place if you have a (rented) car.

Cant wait to go back!
A Memorable Stay with an Exceptional Host! We had a wonderful time staying at Mark’s place while attending a wedding in Limerick. From the moment we arrived, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the building. Mark welcomed us warmly and shared fascinating stories about the rich history of the place and the surrounding area. His hospitality made our visit very special. The location is fantastic—just a quick 5-minute drive to the centre of Limerick City. The surroundings are nothing short of magical, with other historical sites like the 19th-century church featuring pristine stained-glass windows and a beautiful bell tower hidden on the grounds. Also, a great view of the impressive old pillars of the Salmon Weir. From the bottom of the gardens, at the water’s edge, the views of the Shannon River and the majestic 16th-century castle, Caslaunnacorran (Castle of the Weir), were breathtaking. The house itself is full of character and history, making it a unique place to stay. The photos don’t do it justice! The architecture is stunning, with an impressive entrance featuring terrazzo floors and panelled walls adorned with portraits of the family lineage. This leads to a spacious common area where you can relax and enjoy the company of other guests, imagining you’re living it up in the 1920s. From Brian Boru to the Siege of Limerick, this place has it all when it comes to history. The owners have a deep connection to the property’s rich heritage, and the beautiful artworks by the family in every room add to its charm. With Mark working on renovations and improvements, it’s a great value for money right now. While I wish it could remain as it is, I imagine it will soon become one of the best accommodation offerings in the region once the word gets out. I highly recommend taking advantage of the lower tariff while you can! Overall, it was a incredibly memorable experience, and we can’t wait to return!

Dingy, dirty and spooky with bad customer service; a pity as location and building have potential.
Beautiful location and beautiful old building with huge potential.
On arrival we thought it was quirky but to be honest it was dingy and dirty and a little scary. Interior needs more creature comforts as it very sparse and cold. It is charming that there are original features but it is musty and cleanliness not up to scratch. Bed was clean (thank god!) but things like dirty windows with dead flies and cobwebs were off putting and musty smell throughout. The host seemed friendly on arrival but overall (see below) we did not feel welcome and while the place is advertised as a homestay not a hotel, it was far from up to scratch for the price. Our stay (2 nights booked) didn't go well as on arrival our booking did not include our dogs. We apologised in case the error was ours and the host stated the place is pet friendly, there was no issue and they only wanted to check how we booked for future reference in case there was something wrong their end. Having apologised and confirmed if we were actually ok to stay with the dogs we offered to pay extra and/or move room as needed and were told there was no need. We chatted with the host and met his dogs and all seemed friendly. Having checked in and left our belongings in our room around 5 pm we left for dinner - with dogs - and did not return until 9 pm. At this point the host waylaid my partner and told him we should have advised about the dogs. My partner apologised again for any confusion and confirmed if we were ok to stay. We went to bed and stayed in our room for the rest of the evening. I have to say that following the second conversation with the host I felt very uncomfortable. At night the place is quite spooky and dingy and there are no locks on the doors so I felt quite uneasy. In the morning we were about to depart for our plans for the day (again taking the dogs, we of course were not leaving them in the room) when the host appeared and again spoke to my partner and complained that we hadn't told him about the dogs and had to leave immediately.

I just really loved it.
Location is beautiful, unique building, and fantastic big garden down to the river, which is on a scenic bend at this site, quite a panorama left and right. Building is period as of description with its history, and is just uniquely delightful in person, like visiting an historical site , perfectly preserved in character interiorly, furniture etc and oil and watercolour paintings adorning the walls by well regarded relatives of the house make for immersive period experience, can't reccomend more. Solid well bred management with homely touch will take care of you like I was. Made a late booking at 1.30am and was offered collection from my location! Service with a smile , eager to make your stay as welcome as possible , and will act on it. Thanks again Mark. Edward.
