Heerlijk
Het restaurant en de bar gingen vroeg dicht, zelfs in het weekend (21:00 uur, respectievelijk 22:00 uur).

LOCATION, cleanliness & thankful for valet parking !
The Hau tree on-site , fabulous! The lobby area & bar welcoming !
Went to Initial room reserved , park wing location , was horribly disappointing! I was able to upgrade to a small ocean view room for a fare upgrade price ! Had some issues with the entry door … but was fixed in a timely matter !!! No coffee maker in room for simple AM pleasure !!!!
I have stayed there many times , updating is always a work in progress!

Great location. The beach and parks are right outside the hotel. Nice hike to Diamond Head State Park. It is a great location because it is away from the hustle and bustle but a quick 10 minute walk if that's what you want. The hotel offers beach chairs and umbrellas. Bikes are available and included.
Make sure you understand if your reservation is for the tower or if you are in the parking lot annex.

We liked that the property is located away from the center of hustle and bustle in Waikiki. The beach is never crowded. The view of the ocean, city, and the mountain from our wraparound balcony was perfect. We were worried about other reviews that mentioned lack of beach chairs, umbrellas, towels to borrow from the hotel, but there were plenty.
There was a strong musty smell in the room right off the bat. There was no fridge in the room, so it was difficult to keep any leftovers. I know it’s an option that can be requested, but for the price we paid I expected standard amenities to be in the room already.

I felt the hotel was in a wonderful location; it was close to many amenities but not surrounded by Waikiki city bustle. The rooms overlooking the ocean were gorgeous. The private beach was enjoyable; they have a resident monk seal love to lay on the sand.
There was a little confusion between the booking.com itinerary details and the hotel reception desk. However, the confusion cleared up with the attentive staff.

the location was convenient to friends i was visiting
no beach access due to monk seal pup and mom No education for seal etiquette just roped off entire beach access and they have no pool
very expensive valet parking

Nice lobby and bar area. Good, friendly, helpful staff.
Limited seating and menu choices at restaurant. Extra, unexpected charges for menu add-ons: ie tomato and lettuce for hamburger
Food and drinks expensive for 3 star hotel.
Strange, unattractive interior atrium. Hallways very dated. Room adequate.

We were on our honeymoon and the staff was super nice and friendly. They made it such a beautiful time. Chad checked us in and made us feel welcomed. Just overall an amazing experience!
It wasn’t the hotel’s fault that a monk seal decided to give birth on their beach so it was closed. Otherwise our trip would have been absolutely 100% perfect.

I liked the fact that the staff let us check in early at no extra charge. I liked the location (on the beach but away from the noise and crowds of the main tourist area). It is possible to walk to the main tourist area, as well as the aquarium and zoo. The onsite restaurant is very good (though a little pricey). Note that the restaurant is very popular, so guests should make brunch and/or dinner reservations days (perhaps weeks) ahead of time. If one misses out on a dinner reservation (and has no vehicle), there is food available at the bar until 5 p.m., or one can walk up the road a bit to a beach-side cafe that is open reasonably late. There is a convenience store practically on-site, where one can get things like juice and yogurt, as well as the usual stuff like ice cream and chocolate bars. The hotel and restaurant staff are nice, and this is especially true of the restaurant staff! Our queen bed was reasonably comfortable. (We had stayed at the same hotel in late January/early February, and the bed we had then, a king, was a bit too firm for me.) The shower was excellent with good pressure and steady temperature. The A/C worked well, but I am surprised housekeeping leaves the fan on so high, since it blows right over the bed. It is possible to change the fan and mode of operation on the A/C, though it is not obvious. There is a panel on the remote control that can slide down. Under there are the controls for the fan speed, etc. You will want to use this!
The term "city view" room is very misleading. Back in early 2020, it actually meant a view of the main part of Honolulu and the park beside the hotel (unless the hotel upgraded us then without telling us). Now it does not mean that. In fact, it actually means the opposite. We overlooked a parking lot and the other hotels in the area. Still, because we were put on a high floor, we could see Diamond Head and some of the ocean as well. I did not like the fact that the staff completely ignored my written request to be in a quiet area away from the elevator, and actually put us right opposite the elevator. Since they had let us check in early, I decided not to complain about it. We were tired from a night flight from Sydney, Australia, so used white noise apps to mask any hallway sounds, so we could nap. (The rooms are actually fairly soundproof, especially compared to some other places I've stayed in.) Another thing to note is that standard rooms like those labelled "city view" are very, very small (only around 200 sq. ft.). Even some of the "ocean view" rooms are very small. They are okay for a single person, but if you are a couple and can afford it, I recommend something bigger.

The location is fabulous and the views from level 6 of Waikiki and Diamond Head are stunning. The room was spacious and clean and the staff helpful.
Our car was blocked in when we had to leave for the airport despite letting staff know that we were checking out earlier, but I understand that parking space is limited and therefore can be a challenge.

On-site restaurant, named Hua Tree, is often busy. Food is good, service is okay, but getting seated needs to be improved. The person who was sitting us was very rude on multiple occasions. She would take our name down and not give us any table for an hour. I found out that if I avoid that person and try to get a sit through someone else I can find a sit much quicker. This really dampened my experience.

very helpful and friendly staff from Mike at valet parking, our waiter Jorden, and the front desk staff all were great. Our room was clean and well appointed, comfortable king bed. liked that the hotel was off the beaten path but right on the ocean.

out of the Waikiki crowd
Very harsh room/bathroom lighting. Only one side of the bed had a table and lamp which made reading at night impossible.
Hotel restaurant very pricey and not good. Bathtub slippery; asked for rubber tub mat but it never came.

Wonderful staff and beautiful lobby/surroundings
The carpeting outside of our room was stained and the room was a little musty. But overall, it was a wonderful experience.

location, view, beach
I was given a room with 2 twin beds when I booked a queen room. They had no more available. I was able to upgrade to a nicer room at a slight discount, but it should have been more. No free coffee available to guests. We were told there were free bicycles, but there were only 4 and unless you reserved first thing you couldn't get one. That should be made clear.

First time back since the renovation and it definitely amps the cachet factor. Always loved the New Otani and the Kaimana rebrand is even better. Best beach on Gold Coast imho and the new Park Wing Suites are a great value at 500SF.
Minor demerits for no elevator in the 3 story Park Wing and an early rising Roscoe the Rooster on the Ewa side will get you up for a sunrise beach walk.

They moved us to a room that had a Park view vs a Parking lot view, the last 3 days of our stay. This was after I went down to the front desk and complained. I showed them what I was paying for, which said Park view and not Parking lot view. The rooms with the Park view are nicer. The Beach, in front of the hotel, is excellent! The rooms have excellent bathrooms, comfortable beds, and air conditioning.
Spanish Speaking TV, which the hotel couldn't fix, House cl
eaning, for the first six days, the ice machine is on the 8th floor of the main building. We were located in the old part of the hotel, but we asked for a one bedroom. The old section does not have an elevator. If you are handicapped, ask for the new section.

The Kaimana Hotel is my favorite place to stay in Honolulu. The location on the beach, the views from the rooms, the friendly vibe in the restaurant and bar--it is totally worth the splurge!

This location cannot be beat! I used to live nearby. The last time I stayed here was pre-CoVid under the old ownership; I am a single mom & pre-CoVid I traveled back to Honolulu for work-related reasons with my son and a sitter. We were often the very youngest people here and got stink eye. This Dec 2022 trip was just with my son for relaxation. There is a new happy, welcoming, inclusive vibe certainly to families with kids. Clientele seemed also to have increased diversity in all ways, and from what I observed everyone was treated with respect and kindness from the staff. All together the vibe now better matches the vibe at Kaimana Beach and in all of Honolulu. Ella on staff at the Hau Tree is fantastic with kids. I love the menu at the Hau Tree. Fantastic sea food and also mixed drinks. The entire hotel is very clean. I love the new decor! There were more outlets than I needed everywhere I needed them in our Diamond Head view room. I received text updates about workshops and got to make a lei for the first time (despite having lived here 3 1/2 years I never had done that before!). I was texted also about at least one workout class that I didn’t do - but I appreciated the text updates.
I would certainly stay here again! Small areas for possible improvement - I wish the in-room dining menu were larger, and I wish service at Hau Tree were a touch faster (which is my wish for pretty much everywhere in Honolulu that caters to tourists). I do wish there were more options for dining nearby, but we just walked into Waikiki for that and used delivery. An idea to consider for best safety, that is definitely not within control of the hotel - there are a lot of homeless in Honolulu, so if you walk into Waikiki after dark, consider crossing the street and walking along the well-lit and often-in-use tennis courts, rather than along the park on the same (ocean / makai) side of Kalakaua as the hotel - the park on the same side has a section that is poorly lit where homeless folks seem to congregate and camp out.

we've stayed here many times before even though we've lived on the island most of our adult lives. The GOLD COAST is a special area of the island that we are drawn to.
The room was quite small, but it sufficed. I wish they had a microwave in the room but I'm sure some of them do. The split air conditioner was beating directly on my side of the bed and gave me a major head cold.
