The carpet was gross. I saw twice a mouse in my room, slipping from under the door. There is no room service. The quality inn hotel is a little bit farther away from the center, but is much more clean, spacious, without carpet, and the room is serviced every day.

It was right in what i would call the arts district if Berkley, close to music venues, the university, amazing book shops, amazing food. The hotel was really nice, and the bed fixed my sore back from the 17 hours of flying from Australia. Will definitely be back.

Good location. Friendly staff. Comfy bed. Clean.
Building is old. Owner tried hard to upgrade as much as practical but limited by the building. Many places in downtown Berkeley was old like this one so not unique.

The property is in a great location. Walking distance to all of Berkeley and very close to the BART downtown stop.
The property is pretty rundown and not in the best area. the reviews speak to that so not much of a surprise. Fine for a short stay.

remote not working. some very corroded batteries in it. could not watch tv.
honestly, there is a serious pest problem and it needs to be dealt with.

The stink of the trash cans constantly wafted to my room. Apparently they leave about a dozen cans sitting in front of the hotel all the time. Lots of street noise, especially yelling from street dwellers at night. No parking! Only 2 loading spots that were often occupied. Rooms had bizarre layouts. Could look from the bathroom directly into adjacent room. People next door smoked and played music 24x7. Flies buzzing around entrance.

Location is good, with many cafes and restaurants nearby. Room is neat and tidy. Check in and out is very fast and they can speak Chinese! The charge of laundry is fair ($4).
There are no shampoos or bodywash in the room. Neither are teethbrush and teethpaste. It would be better if the hotel could inform prospective customers of this info.
