This hotel is a real gem. We have been traveling cross country and have had to stay in boring, nondescript hotels all along the way - except for Hotel Grinnell! The staff was friendly and helpful, and the whole facility was so charming and clever in its decor. The town of Grinnell is cute and lively. There is a beautiful big park across the street from the hotel and they had a free concert playing that we listened to while eating dinner outside at the hotel restaurant. We were just so surprised to find such a great town and hotel.

Quaint hotel. Close to downtown. Bikes were fun
There wasn’t always someone at check in, I had to call a phone number on the check in desk (at 3:00) and wait

I liked the location
I didn't like how I received a text msg from a staff member telling me they went ahead and canceled my booking before 6pm the day I booked, saying something about me not having a real credit card! It was rude and misleading and very discriminating!

The hotel is extremely clean, comfortable and in a great location. It provides a cool, relaxed atmosphere with options for food and fun space for meeting with friends or other guests. We really enjoy the breakfast as it covers everything, and love visiting with the friendly staff. Always look forward to our stays!

The building was so well thought out as an old school turned hotel. Rooms were comfortable, shower/bathrooms were beautifully done. Definitely a great experience! Don’t forget to snoop around to check out what exists beyond your room!

Hotel Grinnell provides a creative and comfortable atmosphere with facilities that meet all of a guest's needs and beyond. This was only our second stay with the property, but we had looked forward to our return and were again very pleased. The staff is friendly and helpful, the breakfast is fresh and covers all the bases, and the property could not be in a better location.
We really don't have any complaints. The only thing would be that we again did not make use of the work out facilities or the fantastic bikes that the Hotel provides...hopefully next time!

Great location, clean and beautifully decorated in a quirky style. Nice gym. Good food. Extremely helpful staff.
Bar closed at 10pm on weekdays. it would have been nice to be able to get a drink after that. Breakfast was a bit shambolic, they were more than happy to refill the food and coffee but we had to ask.

it’s in a converted middle school which is neat
for all the hipster hype, the rooms are basic and fairly small —think European hotel room. the halls are dark. the price is high

The shower didn't work but was quickly resolved.

The room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The property is an old school and the owners did a great job of converting it to a hotel while managing keep the charm. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. The Periodic Table, the restaurant on site, was a nice place to have some drinks and a light meal. Although it was too cold to enjoy, the patio outside looked lovely.

Absolutely amazing place in the middle of Iowa. Located in an old school, the hotel is unique and caught us by surprise - it is a really fun place , made with lots of love and with a great stuff. would love to visit again, and visiting this hotel is a reason enough to visit grinell with friends again.
