Mole Cottage - a cottage that sleeps 7 guests in 3 bedrooms

A lovely old cottage peaceful and quiet with lovely views…The side garden is especially secluded and quiet,
On the negative side parking is not great,
The cleaners don’t clean under the furniture or bathroom cabinets as I found out when I dropped something which rolled under Ugh !.
But on the whole a lovely place to unwind and enjoy the badgers.

A lovely spacious property which is modernised and has all the necessary facilities. We stayed in March and fed the badgers and fox which came to the patio. In a quiet location with views to the sea. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Couldn’t fault this property !! We have stayed in many holiday cottages and this was by far the best , even great garden furniture in the garage !! Comfortable , clean and everything you could possibly need . This was definitely a home not just a holiday let . Badgers and fox visited every night !! Omg what a treat that was !

The perfect Cottage for a relaxing holiday.
Wonderful views and a secluded peaceful location without being isolated.
Hope to return again.

Mole Cottage is in a fantastic location in Luccombe, 10/15 minutes walk from Shanklin old town. If you walk back to the cottage from Shanklin it is up hill, which is not a problem if you are fit and healthy, but do take this into consideration. The cottage is situated on a private road, so it was always very quiet, both night and day; there's parking for 2 cars just outside of the property.
Being at the top of a hill meant that you are rewarded with a fantastic view out to sea from the lovely garden at the back and side of the property. It's great to watch some of the Channel Island ferries, cargo ships and tankers go by. It's also excellent for star gazing on a clear night. We were also very lucky to be visited by badgers each night, which was amazing to see! We loved watching them feast on the peanuts left out for them each night, right by the patio doors!
The cottage was very well equipped to make our stay a very comfortable home from home experience. The layout worked very well for 4 adults and 2 children. The children could sleep in the large upstairs bedroom, whilst you could remain talking in the living room without disturbing them.
We loved our stay at Mole Cottage and it made our visit to The Isle of Wight a very memorable one and would happily stay here again!

Mole cottage is in a beautiful & peaceful location. The accommodation is very clean, spacious & comfortable with spectacular views to the sea. There are plenty of indoor entertainment activities available - books, games, puzzles etc if the weather is inclement. (However we didn’t need these)
All of the facilities were clean & tidy & kitchen equipment easy to use.
The added attraction was the evening visits in the back garden by a family of badgers who feasted on peanuts which we put out for them. On one occasion we saw a fox!

Another lovely visit - repeat visitors to this very special cottage. Everything you could need for a great break, an outstanding view and badgers visiting the garden every evening. Magical

Mole cottage was great, lovely views, comfy rooms, well equipped kitchen and plenty of room to move around in.
We were fascinated with the badgers each evening, and enjoyed a few afternoons sitting in the garden overlooking the sea.
Had a really lovely, relaxing time there and would happily visit again.

Spent a week celebrating our parents 60th Anniversary the views were lovely and the cottage was a perfect setting

Mole Cottage is like home from home. It has everything you could possibly need. The Cottage has amazing views and is private and quiet. Shanklin is the next village to Luccombe so amenities are close by. Having the badgers visit each evening is a real bonus too. The coastal walk is close so if you like walking then Mole Cottage is ideality situated. We had the need to call the maintenance team who dealt with our issue extremely promptly. We would certainly recommend this cottage.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed.
Large garden which was well maintained. The kids loved it.
We were left a bag of nuts to feed a badger which comes every evening at dusk without fail ! This was a nice bonus for the kids .
Would stay again

We had another wonderful stay at Mole cottage, the weather was not the best we have had on the Isle land but as you turn the corner at the top of the hill and see the cottage the smile returns and the sun shines no matter what the weather. the cottage is well looked after and has every thing you need, just to sit in the garden and look at the views or watch the wild life from butterflies and bees to birds and badgers its just so peaceful. At night its just a short walk to the local pubs followed by a walk through the chine, or sit and watch the ships passing while you star gaze. The worst part of staying at Mole cottage is the leaving to go home

Lovely cottage and bags of room. Badgers are a great experience, too. Bathrooms have great shower pressure and kitchen has every gadget and serving dish you would need. Warm and cosy cottage and very quiet. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Parking for two large cars, too.

We all had a wonderful holiday at this fantastic cottage. Great location, well equiped cottage. Wonderful views of the sea and surrouding countryside from the beautiful garden and wildlife, one night we had 4 badgers visit.

this was our fourth stay at mole cottage and it was just perfect and the new showers are wonderful; We had the most wonderful weather all week even if the weather turns wet or windy there is still things to do which is why we just love the island.
The cottage is just a short walk from Shanklin with its shops, tea rooms and pubs also there is a theatre an d the chine is a must best seen at night. at night we sat in the garden watching the ships out at sea and the moon on the sea was very romantic then we had the joy of the badgers [3 of them ] coming for the peanut which we put out every night. It really is a most wonderful cottage to visit well presented and spotlessly clean so we have book for next year again.

Slightly disappointed
Mole Cottage was in an ideal location with stunning sea views though slightly spoilt by the overgrown bushes in the garden which did spoil the view to the sea from certain positions in the house & no comfortable outside furniture in the garden as 80 years olds the wooden table with attached stools was not ideal to sit on so ended up inside.
4.8
wonderful cottage and surroundings. couldn't fault it
A beautiful cottage in a wonderful location, stunning views and we chose a heatwave week to go, who could ask for more. The badgers were a source of entertainment every evening, sometimes three of them, they love peanuts apples and plums. We had a wonderful time and will definately come to mole cottage again

An idyllic holiday cottage.
Mole Cottage is a well maintained country cottage providing all facilities with wonderful views and a peaceful location. The evening visit by the badgers is an added bonus and the garden provides plenty of space for children to play safely.

A truly lovely cottage, peaceful with unhindered sea view.
From the moment we walked into this pristine cottage we felt at home. Comfortable beds ( very important after a busy day and a glass or two of wine with a nice meal). With a party of four we found the property really spacious both inside and outside in the gardens. All faciliteis really good with a well appointed kitchen supported by a wide range of utensils. Setting is rural and the location of the cottage is quite high up which means it bounded by steepish but quiet roads. Might be a challenge for anyone with walking difficulties.

A most enjoyable week
We enjoyed every aspect of our stay at Mole Cottage. It was also much enjoyed by our grandchildren who, with us, loved watching the badgers. The size of the garden was an unexpected bonus and provided lots of space for family games.
We very much hope to return.

A small piece of hidden perfection
Mole cottage is the oerfect family holiday home
The 3 bedrooms are just perfect and the living accommodation is perfectly suitable for relaxing or socialising
The views and gardens make this place just perfect
But the icing on the cake has to be the nightly visit from the badgers. Red skin peanuts are a must on your packing list.
Emma and her team at Mole cottage certainly make this place a little perfection

Brilliant Location
My only criticism was a lack of a chair or stool in the upstairs bedroom. It would be lovely to look out of the french doors and watch the the ships going by in comfort.

Magical Cottage
It was a privilege to stay at this cottage. Not only was it luxuriously furnished and equipped, the positioning perfect, being just isolated enough, and the views over the sea delightful, there were also badgers
They visited every night, making the television and similar redundant
Similarly the dark skies were equally distracting ( when we had a clear sky at least)
Would we return? In an instant…

A great place to stay.
A lovely well equipped, spacious and comfortable cottage. Attractive garden with views of the hills and the sea and outdoor seating.
A car is necessary as steep hill into Shanklin (15 minutes on foot going, 25 minutes coming back, if you are used to walking.)

Bliss
We have stayed here several times before and have always had a wonderful time. The cottage has always been kept smart and clean; the badgers are a delight to watch as is the little mouse which nips out from the corner of the patio doors to pinch a peanut or two. for us its perfect and will be coming back next year.
The staff at Island homes could not more helpful and pleasant what ever problems may arise [if any]

Simply a wonderful place
Another lovely stay at Mole Cottage. This is a very special cottage - super location, fantastic views and badgers visiting every evening. Fully recommend - if you can find a time it’s not booked.

Delightful cottage in a great position
Mole cottage is a unique holiday home with a great sea view.
It is well equipped and comfortable and the two main bedrooms are a good size with lovely views.
The visits by the badgers at dusk was really special and our 2 year old loved leaving the badger food out for them each evening.
A very enjoyable stay.

Another lovely week at Mole Cottage
This was our third visit to Mole Cottage and it is always very clean comfortable and welcoming. A lovely personal note of welcome from Emma and Stuart makes us feel like old friends although we have never met. We had a 94 year old lady in our party and the downstairs bedroom and bathroom are ideal for her. The views are stunning and the evening visits from the 3 badgers make it a magical experience.

Mole Cottage
A lovely, clean and very well equipped cottage with wonderful views of the sea and downs. The children loved all the space to play in the garden and were fascinated by the evening badger visits. We were lucky to have good weather but if the weather had been wet there were lots of games and videos to occupy all ages. With all the interesting pictures on the walls the cottage really feels like a home from home.

Nice cottage
Well-appointed cottage, secluded and with excellent sea views. Nightly badger visits an added attraction!

Lovely stay
Lovely cottage in an out of way place. Well equipped although I would suggest taking your own cushion for the sofa. Fantastic views from all the back windows. Despite the lure of the upstairs ensuite bedroom I would say the best bedroom is downstairs at the back. Views to the sea from the bed, full of light and a massage armchair. The under floor heating in the downstairs bathroom was great too. Wifi was good which was a bonus and heating was efficient. Couldnt get the car on the drive but adaquate parking in the lane right outside the cottage. Would go again.

Another wonderful stay
This was our fourth visit to Mole Cottage, and we had the most wonderful time. The cottage is very well equipped, right down to peanuts to feed the badgers with.
The views are amazing, and they will never change. Lovely white fluffy towels, immaculate bed linen, and fully equipped kitchen.
The only down side was we had to leave. 9 am departure is a bit of a rush, but hopefully this will change when Covid restrictions ease. Thank You for sharing your beautiful home.

Wonderful stay at Mole Cottage
We had a wonderful break, it was clean and had everything we could wish for, lots of room, beautiful views of the sea and the rolling hills, even games, books, DVD’s and PlayStation games. We were visited by the resident badgers every night which our girls loved. It was very peaceful at the cottage and not far from Shanklin. We would definitely love to go back.

Nice cottage and stay soured by retention of security deposit
The cottage is very nice and spacious and in a great position overlooking the sea. The badgers arrived nightly for their food and there was some lovely walks in the locality. On our return home however we were advised that our security deposit would be retained as the housekeeper had reported damage to a towel rail. We had absolutely no knowledge of this and were very upset at the accusation. I have no idea what this was all about - could it have been normal wear and tear, poor maintenance etc etc. It did teach me a very valuable lesson though and that is to inspect rental properties thoroughly and take pictures of any damage at the outset, just like you would with a rental car. It was resolved in the end and we got our deposit back after three emails and a lot of anxiety. It wasn't about the money in the end just about being believed.

Outstanding
We loved it there, view outstanding, the weather was so hot we could of done with 3 fans for the bedroom’s

A little taste of bliss
We arrived for our second stay at the cottage to find it all clean and welcoming. the only down side was the Bar B cue was out of bounds so we had to use disposable ones.
The cottage is ideal for us [4 adults and 3 children {2 eleven and one eight year ].Its an easy walk to Shanklin [not so easy back]. Every where else can be reached by car in forty minuets. Must recommend the Happy Haddock for fish and chips done in the old way [in beef dripping ],done well this year only put on 5lbs.
We will becoming back next year hopefully it will be virus free but it was no problem really this year thanks to all the friendly locals.

We come back to Mole Cottage every year
Mole Cottage is our home from home. We feel so relaxed here. It has everything we could wish for practically i.e. space and comfort and the views are beautiful. We love being tucked away up in the hills, the stars put on an amazing show on a clear night and I love to open the curtains in the morning and see the glistening sea. The owner always leaves a handwritten card for us along with Bager food and this is a lovely gesture that means alot. We love the Isle of Wight and staying at Mole Cottage is a big part of our holiday.
4.8
A magical place to relax and unwind
Situated in an fantastic part of the island with amazing views out to sea and with nearby coastal walks or a short drive to the beach Mole Cottage provides everything you need to relax and unwind. The cottage is immaculate and provides everything for a comfortable stay - the only thing missing is a comfy seat in the garden to relax in. Nightly visits from the badgers adds an extra bit of holiday magic.

Great location, comfortable, clean and very well equipped - and badgers!!
We spent a week at Mole Cottage as a group of 4 adults and found the accommodation to be very comfortable and clean with all the appliances that you could need (washing machine, dishwasher, cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer etc.) and in a great location with a fantastic view over the Channel. A gentle 20-minute stroll down to Shanklin Old Village with shops, pubs and eateries although it's quite a decent climb back up to the cottage afterwards. Equally we walked the Coastal Path from the cottage to Ventnor, about 3 1/2 miles, approximately 75 minutes, via the very interesting 11th Century St Boniface's church at Bonchurch, and back. The cottage has 3 double bedrooms so would easily accommodate 6 or even 7 using the spare single bed in one of the bedrooms. Every evening, badgers come to the patio door providing you put food (dry peanuts) out for them, quite special to literally have just a pane of glass between you and real, live badgers!! Lots of other wildlife and birds, you might even be lucky enough to get a red squirrel visit the garden. Overall, a very nice week even though we were not blessed with the best weather - no problem really, the cottage comes equipped with lots of board games and jigsaws too.
