The bungalows are really well designed architecturally, it’s just like that was more space. The AC was amazing as we were there during the hot and humid season. It is a two minute walk to the beach. The landscaping is beautiful!
really nothing to complain about at all. Of course, anywhere in the area it requires four-wheel-drive, but there is nothing that the bungalows can do about the road conditions.

quick walk to beach, set off the road, clean and comfortable
would have been great if it had a swimming pool

The architecture was very nice. Very pretty.

Amazing breakfast and so nice to be close to the beach. The rooms were so nice and clean, great AC and wifi, super nice showers; the bed was super comfy, overall the room was very comfortable. Extremely friendly staff and so helpful with information about the town. Overall it was such a relaxing stay, would definitely recommend!

We couldn't be happier with our choice to stay at Makanas. The bungalow was beautiful and well taken care of by the owners. Communication was great and everything from self check in instructions, Wifi, and local guide/tips was provided and very helpful. The bed and bathrooms were extremely comfortable and the best part is the private terrace where we can enjoy our coffee and relax.
The location of Makanas was ideal for us. There is access to a beautiful beach less than 100 meters away, we had such a great time walking around and the sunset was stunning! Makanas is a bit outside of the hustle of the main town, but it was easy to get around. Most restaurants will require a drive, but there are some good walkable options. I would highly recommend Florblanca next door for amazing sushi (and yoga)!
Breakfast included eggs, fresh fruit, rice and beans and delicious coffee. The hosts were extremely responsive and helpful, they helped us book a rental for ATVs which I highly recommend.
Thanks for a great stay, we would love to come back on our next trip down to CR.

The bungalows are a short walk from the beach, which is at the far end of Santa Terasa and in quiet and more wild location. The bungalows are in good condition and comfortable.
The bungalows themselves are closer to the main road than the beach and although secluded are nestled around other properties and don't really have a view. The main issue we had was the building works next door which started at 6am and lasted all day, every day. The staff told us it had been going on for sometime, but the owner said it was the first report he'd had of it - speaking to other guests this clearly wasn't the case. Although we found great restuarants on the beach nearby and enjoyed Santa Terasa, the accomodation definately wasn't the highlight of our trip.

nice and simple
all was as expected

Comfy bed, beach towels were provided, close to nice beaches, staff were responsive to messages via Booking.com messaging service
For this price point, the room was very under equipped. There was no safe, no tea/coffee making facilities, no hot water. The internet wouldn't always work. For breakfast there was no choice, we were just given a plate of food whether we liked it or not.
There was no customer service, no welcome, no atmosphere. There were different people hanging around the grounds, but it wasn't clear if they were staff or not.

Super friendly & efficient staff and amazing breakfasts - fresh, healthy, tasty, perfectly seasoned! Housekeeping was efficient and friendly.

We loved staying here, next time we‘ll book the bungalow for 2 weeks:) The owners were very sweet and we felt very comfortable!

Nice quieter than the town of Santa Teresa. very close to the beach. Good breakfast.
The hill to get in and out was a big rough. had to make sure we had a running start to get out in our car. Almost no communication from the hosts, when the power went out there was no check in to see if we were okay or letting us know if this was expected or when we could expect power back on. There was no kettle in the room for boiling water. There was no daily cleaning.

Great accommodation super close to the beach! Guli and staff extremely welcoming and can provide great recommendations in town for food/drink, organise transport, atv etc.

The owners where so sweet and helpfull. Peacefull place, yoga around the corner at Florblanca, delicious breakfast.
There was not so much water coming out the shower.

the people running the place were awesome!!! and they did a great breakfast. we had a great time with them, made it unforgettable, and that was actually the best and unexpected part of it! thank you so much! the area, the beach is very close and very empty, which we think is awesome.
price was a bit too high especially since on the site it looks like you have ocean view and it's right at the beach, but you don't have a view, there is a property in between this and the beach - and you're looking at trees basically, which is ok but not what i expected. that was basically my biggest problem with it. Also, keep in mind the road is very very dusty... but that's everywhere in santa teresa i guess.

The apartment was full of dirty, spider nests, ants and cockroaches. It is inadmissable someone to deliver a room in such conditions. We didn't even stay for breakfast.
4.5
Giulia & Simone where absolutely wonderful hosts. So friendly and helpful. Located in a calmer, more secluded area of St Teresa, at the last streetlight, perfect to round up a surf week.
4.5
The caretaker of this place, Giuli, is amazing. She is the hostess of the mosses. She is also an amazing cook (breakfast is delicious). The location is the best part. Technically you are close enough to all the main activities, but you also get the super quiet and nice location. The beach is the best part. You literally walk like 2mins to the beach and barely people in this area. Most people are in town. The owners of the place need to invest some money to do some TLC on this place but regardless of this, I still would recommend it. This place is super clean, quiet, adorable and the location is the best. Also Wi-Fi works amazing - worked here w/no problems.
What I didnt like is only the TLC part. Wish owners would do more TLC on their facilities.
3.5
The four little cottages are very pretty, set right in the jungle and all the way at the edge of town where you won't be bombarded by all the dust and noise. It is only a 5 minute walk down to a very secluded area of beach where you can relax away from the surf crowds. Giuliana is an amazing hostess and very lovely to talk to.
It is a long walk into the central area along a very dirty, noisy, busy road if you want to get anything to eat or go to a market. The price is quite high, but most of Santa Teresa is a bit overpriced, so that not unexpected. I actually did not like the area at all and decided not to stay, and sadly none of my reservation was refundable so I was out quite a large sum.

I enjoyed the seclusion and quiet nature. It is the appropriate distance from loud tourists and young people looking to party. The beach is just moments away and right where the tide pools form. Its a quiet beach rich for alone time and some r&r. The staff was exceptional. Giulia attended your every need and always had a smile on her face. She is what made Makanas an experience. The place should be named Casa De Giulia. Ultimately, this place was peaceful a zen if you accept it.
The nearby construction, but that is not the hotel's fault. The town is growing and there is construction everywhere.
The place does need a a small bit of TLC, but if you find yourself complaining about it more than you should then it is probably because you are spoiled rotten. Also if you complain that it is too far from the town then rent an ATV or bicycle or take the bus or walk for crying outloud.

Good breakfast, nice team.
No hot water in the bathroom.

Julia was amazing and was so sweet and helpful. She absolutely made our stay. The location is good, pretty quiet and away from the hustle and bustle
of Sta. Teresa. Breakfast was delicious. Close to the beach.
A little far from town, a bit far from restaurants, which was definitely a factor as their on-site is restaurant is only serving breakfast. We booked here because we heard the food was so great, and we didn’t want to have to leave for dinner, drinks etc. The restaurant not being open was definitely a disappointment. We had a few minor issues with our room, which we let them know about, but just kind of dealt with.

The couple who runs the place was very nice. They even made a breakfast after breakfast hours. Very communicative and hospitable . The beach is close and you can hear ocean. Thank you!
The property needs more attention. The price is way tooo high for the value (no offense). I’ve stayed at another place for half the price and was 10x better (quality, amenities, cleanliness)
The bathroom was not clean, old towels and bedding, mini fridge didn’t work, Cabin lock old and didn’t seem safe, a lot of noise (nearby noisy party going place and ATVs driving at all hours)
Shower was old and water pressure nom existent, no shampoo , everything seemed in decay relative to how much they charge for a night. With either lowering the price by half or investing in little bit important things the place can be amazing and match the description and price
Hope this honest feedback helps

Giulia the manager of the place was very nice and helpful.
Far from the center, challenging to get a taxi, I found it expensive for what it is

Giulia and Simone were extremely friendly and helpful, great breakfast, a few minutes walk from the beach (not at the beach)
very close to the road which we partly heard during the day but at night you hear the sea only

The innkeeper was very nice and helpful. Traditional breakfasts were delicious. A 10 walk along the beach to two good restaurants.
The facilities are run down and Mis-represented on their website. The restaurant and bar have been closed for a very long time. The road to the property is washed out (not their fault) and access to the beach is difficult. Even in good times you need 4WD to exit to the main road.

Sunset of the beach and morning breakfast
I really dont like write a bad review but there just some things not we expected. I did not like how the some of the towels had holes in it and very worn. The hot water was a big issue only lasting 60s with no water pressure. The bed was not the most conformable but manageable. The beach access was nice but needs a little clean up with leave everywhere and one point a broken lounge chair. It would been nice to have some chairs for guests to watch the sunset. Lastly I was going to rate a little higher but for a incident the last 20mins of checkout. Me and my partner were eating our breakfast at their restaurant before checking out after that. We came back to our room with our stuff still inside to fine the bed made and room kind of cleaned up when are just about to check out. Which concerned us that someone was in our room without us knowing and to fine the same sheets and pillowcases possible staged for the next guest. We determine this because their was a bleach spot on one of the pillowcases and it was same one was still there. Its either the hotel is not doing well (kind of had the feeling) or corners are being cut. Hopefully the host can fix some issues because it could become a great place.
