Employees were great and helpful. Good information on things to do in the area. Quiet area. Easy drive to restaurants and activities. Drinking water provided.
No A/C. Fan was provided and was barely enough to sleep. Realize it was summer, temperatures not extremely hot, but very humid.

I had a relaxing stay in Niseko during summer. The room I booked was good and clean, but personally, it was also a little dark for me. The facilities at the lodge are also clean and well-maintained. Basic amenities are provided. The staff and owners are warm and nice people; they are very helpful in giving information about the area and answering requests from guests. They also make sure you travel to the lodge safely by informing you route options, since the location is kind of remote and inconvenient. Meals aren't provided during the period I stayed in and there are no convenience stores that are within walking distance, but the staff told me about the nearby restaurants and vegetarian/vegan options.
I travelled alone but I think it would be great value for those travelling with partners or in groups. The room comes with two-three single beds so it would be very cheap for the group to split the cost. Overall, it was a great stay and I look forward to visiting the lodge again, next time with friends during winter.

The lodge is well located. You can access ski slopes 5 minutes walking.
We were disappointed by the standard family room which was located at the basement close to the ski room with no toilets nor bathroom. You have to go at the ground floor. At 200€ per night we would have expected something else.
The cooker cooker was really nice and helpful but the other people don’t even say hello.

Breakfast was very good, but a little pricy.
Staff was very nice and helpful
No closets in the rooms

When I was looking, Niseko Ski Lodge Higashiyama was by far the cheapest place within walking distance to the ski lift (Banzai), from which you can get a free ride to the nearest lift ticket window (Hilton).
They feed you an all you can eat breakfast that is filling, if not particularly exciting.
Everyone is very nice.
They say expectations determine our level of satisfaction, and I'll admit that my expectations were sky high, based on a previous stay last year. Apparently the previous owners are gone, and that's too bad. They really made the extra effort.
What can I say? The quality of the service, in particular the cooking, has dropped.
But this problem was compounded by the fact that Niseko is a very dificult place to get around (just forget about getting a taxi. Forget it.) and do non-snow stuff. I don't blame the current management for this. But, it would have been nice if they had stepped up with a shuttle service to the restaurants and slopes as their competition is doing.
Also, they need a full time Japanese speaker to handle the usual problems guests face (booking buses, getting around, etc).

value for money, cozy, comfortable, clean, and very nice staff
location was a bit challenging, although the bus stop are very near

It is a beautiful lodge!
It’s winter, so trains stopped operating and we had to take bus. We got down at Niseko and called the hotel. But this hotel has no shuttle service and they refused to send someone for pick up. Hence we were stranded and freezing for hours!

- friendly staff
- quiet location, away from Niseko, nice view of Yotei and the forest
- clean communal showers
- dirty room, corpses of stink bugs along the wall
- colonies of stink bugs in the bedroom ceiling light and in the sinks
-spring mattresses so worn you can feel every spring…
- and despite all this, the night at more than 115€ !! (for a room for 2 with shared bathrooms)

The staff is charming and made everything as easy as possible. The breakfast is very good. Also, I would like to point out that we had a problem with the bus and the owner came to pick us up and drove for half an hour to help us. In short, exceptional!

The lodge is located a hundred meters from a bus stop which is convenient to go to the ski slopes or to the city center (Grand Hirafu).
Staff was kind to arrange ski material booking and collection at the lodge on our arrival date.
Unfortunately no dinner option was provided at the lodge, taking into account that the last shuttle bus leaves the city center at 8pm and a significant part of the restaurants in the lodge area have not reopened it makes it difficult to organize/ find a place for dinner.
Quality of service depends on the staff you are talking to. Some information regarding night shuttle buses or how to get to the ski slopes by walking could be either provided on a document or by the staff at check-in.

Friendly and helpful staff, convenient location (shuttle stop is just 3min walk away).
5.0 / 10.0
The staff is amazingly helpful and are the reason I'm not rating this a lot lower. Location is decent (not incredible) for skiing - you can walk about 5-10 minutes to get to a lift. If you want to do anything else (eat, onsen) this is not a good place for that.
nothing else nearby, no food worth eating and the bus system is extremely restrictive. i would definitely stay in hirafu unless you plan on bringing all of your own food, last but home is at 8PM.

Nice lodge, big rooms and common spaces, friendly staff
location is a bit far from most restaurants/ services, there is a bus but in winter rides are limited and when renting skis I would highly recommend to rent a car

The hosts are fantastic. The location is convenient for skiing. The host knows the area very well as an avid skier and instructor himself. They did a wonderful job cooking dinner and breakfast. The fresh baked bread is a great way to start the day.
No comment, the place is a great value.

The ventilation in the place was perfect! Even though it reached up to -15 C outside, it’s very warm and comfortable inside the lodge. Also, the owners/staff are wonderful! Miki san with her excellent customer service, just helping us out whenever we need something, Reese san for making us his delicious dishes (even their bread is in-house) and Chrystle for answering all our questions and arranging everything for us before our trip. Our stay in Niseko, aside from the beauty of the place was perfect because of them. Thank you!!!
The pillows and bed are kind of hard haha

The moment I opened the door to the lodge, I was greeted by a loud and friendly greeting from the hosts. Every day was the same. Warm, hardworking and knowledgeable, the hosts made sure our stay was special.
Pro tip: use Google (not the official city guide book) to choose your taxi company. Some taxis are better than others at finding their way around....

it was a great time to stay at this ski lodge where we've spent 7 night in total and we really enjoyed everything they've provided for us. Great breakfast and dinner (credit to Race), nice location (5mins to bus stop), fantastic staff (welcome and helpful). The hotel has a great view on the famous Yotei Mountain. I would definitely come back again if I would ever visit Niseko next time.

Miki and Rhys were fabulous hosts, going above and beyond to help us answer our questions on all aspects of travel and helping us arrange onward travel even. Friendly, chatty, we felt like we were staying with friends! House had large commons spaces and was in a good location (although driving is probably a plus) particularly since Milk Kobo is around the corner.

we had a room with 3 beds and there basically was no space to hang or put any of your luggage. beds were really nice, room was small.
