Lovely property in a beautiful location. Quiet, peaceful and very relaxing.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house has a great location and you are also allowed to walk around the hosts' property, which is really extraordinary big. Hosts are very gracious and were also happy to show us around their farm and old house. The tour was very interesting and it was nice to talk to the hosts.

The cottage was stunning. 2 large en suite bedrooms with wonderful beams on the ceiling, a big kitchen/diner and a nice lounge. All this set on a working farm. John and Renata were wonderful hosts and very attentive to every query we had. John even let us help with installing additional posts to support his fantastic tree collection and he showed us a nest if blackbirds in his tractor!

We were pleasantly surprised by the peaceful location, the amazing views of Devon landscape and the lovely owners, John and Renate. On entering the property we saw that it’s bigger than it looks on pictures and was on the surface very clean. It had every piece of equipment you could imagine, especially the kitchen. It was great to have a selection of DVDS and books, cleaning equipment, a lot of storage, underfloor heating and remote control blinds. Sadly, the internet was not good enough to hold Zoom meetings but if you’re not working while staying at the cottage then you should be fine. On closer inspection, harder to reach and places could use a deep clean- the corners, high beams in the bedrooms, high shelves and sills and cupboard tops were all extremely dusty and there were a lot of cobwebs, dead insects and spiders. A deep clean once a month should do it. We loved the pool and it’s a shame the weather wasn’t better so we could use it more. We had a really nice time and would love to return, but we’d love to see the washing machine replaced as it’s very rusty and has black mould inside so the clothes we washed smelt worse afterwards. We’d also love to see the showers updated. They’re those electric showers from the 80s/90s which are either freezing or boiling with no in between. In order to find a temperature we could stand it took 15 minutes of fiddling with the dials, and next time we turned it on the settings were obsolete and we had to start the process again.

We all enjoyed our rural escape to Pond Cottage! John and Renate were friendly and welcoming to their beautiful farm. The boys were able to cuddle some baby goslings as soon as we arrived. We were given all the information we needed, and were free to explore. The cottage is equipped with everything you need, and is lovely inside. WI-FI is available. There is a private garden with a picnic bench in a sunny corner. The boys loved being surrounded by the animals, and feeding the ducks and geese. The swimming pool was also an added bonus, and very welcome in the sunny weather. Would definitely recommend a visit! Thank you.

Definitely stay again

We managed to escape for a few days relaxation and Pond Cottage was perfect for us. A beautiful location and an ideal cottage to unwind in front of the log burner. The owners made us feel very welcome and it was lovely to chat - the cottage and farm are very well cared for and a lovely place to be. Thank you for creating such a relaxing place, we look forward to coming back.

We had the most wonderful time! Huge thank you to the hosts - they have thought of everything that we could need and are the loveliest of people! The kids were encouraged to explore and learnt lots about all the animals and trees. Perfectly located for the area and everything made our visit so very comfortable

Renate and John were so welcoming and engaging with our two little ones. The pride taken in maintaining their beautiful converted cottage shines through and we instantly felt at home. The surroundings are absolutely stunning, loved and cared for. The icing on the cake for the kids was feeding the ducks everyday (who were often waiting for their next treat) and regular dips in the pool. Could not fault our stay, we all loved it. Thank you both for such a lovely welcoming stay.

A lovely cottage with equally lovely owners, made us feel so welcome and very kind to our children too. Really enjoyed our stay and hope we can come back again soon.

John and Renata were so welcoming, everything was ready for our arrival, they welcomed us to explore their property as we wished. Cottage was well stocked and had thoughtful touches like flowers, jam and eggs. The lambs were lovely, place was so tranquil, a great place to unwind and relax.

Really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. John and Renata are lovely. The cottage is remote and you need transport to stay here,but the remoteness adds to its charm

We stayed at pond cottage the first week of Easter half term and we had the loveliest time! Renate and John are the most fabulous hosts and the cottage is an absolute joy to spend time in. Our 6 year old loved her stay and really enjoyed being able to spend time with the lambs and ducks!

There is no doubt that we will be back, beautiful property, Renate & John are absolutely lovely people and despite the weather, it was an amazing place to be.

A lovely holiday

Renata and John are the most delightful hosts, and now friends The cottage was very comfortable. Well appointed and clean. Being on a farm and arboretum was an added bonus. We enjoyed learning about farming and tasting fabulous fresh produce grown by Renata in her cottage garden. We also thoroughly enjoyed our chats at the swimming pool each evening as we recovered from our long walks in Exmoor and the country. We will definitely be returning. Thank you!!

The cottage is the perfect haven from the fast paced world. Renata and John were warm, welcoming and very helpful when we had a crisis. We cannot thank them enough for their patience. Our girls loved the pool and interacting with the animals, wolly in particular will always hold a very special place in our hearts. The ducks were always a source of amusement and great company too. The cottage itself is very well appointed with everything you need to have a restful stay. The log burner was lovely in the unseasonably chilly summer evenings. I cannot recommend Pond Cottage enough and we hope to return one day.

There are too many good things to say about the property and the wonderful hosts John and Renate. Waking up surrounded by countryside, orchards, animals and breathtaking views was exactly what we needed in an escape from the big city life. We have stayed in many properties and Pond Cottage tops them all; it’s everything you would expect and more. Caters for your every need whether that be cleaning, cooking or watching TV with the huge selection of great movies. Now for the main highlight of our trip, John and Renate. There are no words to describe how lovely this couple are. They would go to any lengths to ensure you are looked after. When I was bitten twice by a horsefly, johns medical background came into light and offered me some medication to sort them out. This truly shows how much John and renate both care for their guests. If We could have stayed forever We definitely would and we most definitely will return again in the near future. Thank you John and renate for making our holiday so special. You both truly are amazing.

Peace and tranquility in abundance. Lovely place and lovely people.

We had such a lovely time as guests of Renate and John on the farm, whilst staying at Pond Cottage. Such a beautiful and peaceful place, the village of Witheridge is close by with amenities but you barely need to leave the farm to keep yourself occupied. We (2 adults, 2 young kids) thoroughly enjoyed using the pool, exploring the arboretum, picnicking in the orchard, feeding the friendly ducks, helping herding the sheep and generally appreciating being surrounded by nature (a highlight excursion was an evening horse and wagon ride in nearby Ash Mill). If you are looking for a rural idyll to unwind in in the Devon countryside then look no further. The cottage itself is immaculate and very well equipped. The owners Renate and John were so welcoming, helpful and friendly, we couldn’t of asked for more. We’d love to return one day.

Pond Cottage is a beautiful cottage and great for peace and quiet. Lambs in the field near the cottage with chickens,geese and ducks roaming about was fantastic. Cosy log burner was great as the weather turned chilly...Hosts were very friendly without being intrusive. I would have given it 5 stars but the water temperature in kitchen & bathroom sinks was luke warm at best and the flow was no more than a trickle..however that said it didn't spoil our enjoyment and we would love to return.

We had a lovely week - the cottage in an idyllic, peaceful location and is well equipped and spacious. We particularly enjoyed the pool and feeding the ever hungry ducks! John and Renate are very welcoming, relaxed hosts. Definitely recommend and would love to come back!

Really well appointed and cosy with lovely hosts

Living a Bradford Barton farm in Pond Cottage was a memorable experience that will always remain in our hearts and minds. Renata and John are absolutely delightful, warm, friendly and ever so helpful. The adventures about the farm with the sheep,, the lambs, the chickens, geese, and the ducks was sheer pleasure. The house is perfect, the bed comfortable, the kitchen well equipped with everything one would need or want. What more can I say? We loved it! Go there...do yourself a favor and you'll never forget it. As world travelers (homeless with no storage) for seven years we've had plenty of holiday home experience. This fabulous farm is at the top of our list.

Lovely place to be very quiet loads of space for 4 people clean and tidy lots of field's for walks bring wellies for field's hosts fantastic a real credit to the lovely couple I have 2 warnings tight lanes to property which isn't much of a problem for most and the other is I made the mistake of only booking 4 days which really once you are there you want to stay a lot longer don't make my mistake book at least a week I will be on my next trip thank you to R&J
