This is the basic spots map you will find around the house. Please visit this link for an online version of this map http://bit.ly/1o2OmhA
BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
Prior to your arrival we need some info from you. It would be great if you could provide them at least one week before you check into the apartment.
Around what time are you going to arrive in Firenze? Are you coming by train or by plane?
We need a phone number we can call, send an SMS or WhatsApp for any last minute communication with you.
For bureaucracy reasons we need to notify the local administrations of incoming guests. We need some data from you and it would be great if you could send it to us via mail before you get here.
For 1 person we need:
Name
Surname
Date of born
Place he/she was born
Gender
Citizenship
ID Number
ID type
State the ID was done.
For all the other guests we need:
Name
Surname
Place he/she was born
Date of born

CHECK-IN
Once you get to the apartment press the buzzer n°5 labeled Ruini and we will open the front door for you. It will be either me or my parents to welcome you at the house and show you around. It would be great if you could warn us in case you hit any kind of delay.
How to get to the apartment
By plane or train
Once you arrive in Florence (either by plane at Florence airport or by train at Florence central station) I’d personally recommend you to grab a taxi and ask the driver to lead you to "borgo dei Greci 7". This is the fastest and painless way for you to get at the apartment’s front door.
If you land in Pisa you will find trains or busses that will bring you at Florence central station in 1h and grab a taxi from there.
If you get to Florence central station and don’t want to use taxi you have a second ( and cheaper) option. There is a small electric bus that depart right next to the central station and stops just 2min walk from the house. The bus code is “C2” and the bus stop you should get out of the bus is called “Ghibellina”. You can see the complete trip details here:
https://goo.gl/maps/xC6THUkXRRK2
There is a C2 bus leaving central station every 10 min (at max) during the day.
By Car
If you are coming by car (although we don’t recommend it) you can use either public city parkings or private.
The Closest cheaper public parking is 28min walking distance from the house (across the city center). It’s not super handy but it’s just 10 euro per day (15 from the second day) https://goo.gl/maps/2d34Dt5kENp .
The Closest private parking is 5min walking distance from the house but they are way more expensive: from 30 to 80 euro per day depending on the car size. http://www.firparking.com/en/our-parkings/garage-del-bargello
You can’t park the car near the house and most important you can drive close by only during specific time windows because of the restricted traffic area the house is located in.
You can enter the restricted traffic area with your car
Working days: after 8pm till early morning
Saturday: from 4pm
Sunday: the whole day
There are cameras at the restricted area gates. If they bust you passing during the closure time you will be fined.
If you stay within the correct timeframes you can come close to the house to drop people and luggages but then you need to drive your car outside the restricted traffic area.
The Closest drop off point for luggage outside the restricted area traffic is here https://goo.gl/maps/U13V9sbrHx62

POWER & WATER OUTAGES
If a power outage happens:
Check the fusebox in the storeroom. If all of them are up (but one on the right) the issue is not here so go to next step. If not call mike.
Get out of the house and go down the stairs to the front door hallway. On te left of the door, you will see a white cabin. Open it, look on the top left for a white box with this name “ruini haldys”. If the switch is turned down then pull it up. If the switch is up the issue is not here and it may be a city supply problem. In any case call Mike
If water outage happens:
Check if there is a power outage in the house. If so try to fix it following the previous bullet points. If there is there if not it maybe a water supplier scheduled outage for network improvement. In any case call mike.
Note: there are smoke sensor in the house. If they detect smokes the safety protocl will cut off all vital utilities such as gas, electricity and water. It’s thus recommended:
To smoke in the inner court
If cooking always turn on the Exhaust hood over the stove in the kitchen if you are grilling or frying
GARBAGE HANDLING
In Florence we sort garbage for recycling. In the house you will find 4 containers:
One for Plastic, cans, glass

One for Organic waste
All the rest
You won’t see garbage containers around the house because they are “underground” containers: just a small hatch comes out of the ground. You have to open it, put you garbage in and close it. Garbage location is marked in the “basic spots map” linked in this manual (also in the picture at the beginning of this manual) or down here.

10.0 / 10.0
This apartment is located within walking distance of all the major Florence attractions. In addition, there is a wine window a few doors down, which was an added bonus. There was plenty of space for our group of 9. There are towels, small bars of soap and shampoo packets provided, as well as additional supplies to get you through the first day or so. If you are staying longer, I'd recommend getting toilet paper, trash bags and toiletries from the local store, which is not far. You do have to take the trash down the street and around the corner, but it is not a major inconvenience. The owner was responsive and easy to deal with. The air conditioning, while not overly powerful, keeps the place cool enough to feel inviting after a day of sightseeing; there are also several fans in the property. The stairs can be tough after climbing the bell tower, but again, not a major inconvenience, just something to be aware of. I would stay at the property again-the location is ideal.
10.0 / 10.0
Great location within walking distance of many sites and restaurants. Lots of stairs
6.0 / 10.0
I was so hoping this would be amazing but sadly it left us wanting/needing more. For one, there are 5 floors of stairs that you must climb every time you leave the apartment. THERE IS NO ELEVATOR! Also, the neighbors in the building wanted us to be quiet all the time (even during regular hours).
The bathroom situation is very deceiving the way they have written the descriptions. There are 3 bathrooms, but only one of them is nice. The second bathroom with a shower was extremely small, the shower door was difficult, and there was MOLD all over the tiles. The bathroom upstairs had a tub, but no shower and the ceiling was extremely low.
All the rooms were bare minimum. There were no mirrors anywhere, very little lighting throughout and we asked for more pillows because the ones that were in the apartment were paper thin (which they said they couldn’t get more for us).
There is a washer, but no dryer and the washer was filthy and tiny so we ended up having to go to a laundromat. The laundry room was also very dirty and being used as a storage unit.
Basic items, such as garbage bags, hand soap, and items to use for cooking were almost nonexistent. I didn’t know that we would have to purchase all this for the space.
Overall, I’ve learned my lesson. I’d rather spend more and go to a hotel where I will be accommodated for my family needs. I’ve been let down way too much with VRBO.
10.0 / 10.0
We loved the amount of space in the apartment as well as it's incredible location in Florence. 5 full flights of stairs was a bit rough with luggage, but certainly typical for the best locations in Florence.

The location of this property was perfect for our family vacation. The property manager was very responsive with all questions.
10.0 / 10.0
Very good and spacious. A couple of the beds should be replaced and there was definitely a musty oder. Only downside was a request to remove the trash - and the requested drop off site is not near the premises (no near by collection bins). All-in-all, I would stay here again.
10.0 / 10.0
Amazing location. Centrally located to everything. The apartment ia on the 5th floor. No elevator. But after getting luggage in on the first day, we really didn't mind. Please read notes...no extra toiletries or garbage bags, laundry detergent, kitchen cleaning items. We were there for 6 nights and had to go out on day one. Also. Only one set of towels. Additional fee for 2nd set. Washer only. No dryer. But with all that, would choose this location again
10.0 / 10.0
We spent almost 6 weeks in this apartment. It is very spacious with 5 bedrooms and a loft bed, 3 bathrooms. It is very central to everything Florence, with some of the city’s best gelato and restaurants nearby. Yes, there are 72 stairs up and 72 stairs down but hey, it’s an old building. Borgo dei Greci is “Village of the Greeks”. Renata was wonderful to help quickly with the few things we needed. We were lucky enough to see several parades go down our street for the Florentine Football games held at Santa Croce. The grocery store is relatively close too. Just a wonderful way to spend some time in Florence. Thanks, Renata!
AC went out 4xs in 6 weeks but was easy to fix by resetting AC unit on upper terrace. Hallway carpets need to be cleaned, they take away from all of the great things about this wonderful apartment.
10.0 / 10.0
This apartment was exactly what we were looking for on our vacation. The location is perfect, in the middle of everything, centrally located to get to all the sites. You can walk everywhere. The apartment is big and beautiful. We are a family of 4 and we met up with our friends, another family of 4. We all had our bedrooms and plenty of private space AND the common areas are big enough for us to all sit down, talk, connect, play games and eat. We enjoyed breakfast every morning at the apartment and would sometimes bring lunch back because it is HOT in July! We were very thankful for the AC. The owners were very responsive too, as one day the AC went out and they sent over a technician to fix it. We found the beds to be comfortable as we all slept well, and there was plenty of hot water for all of us to take showers as needed, usually in the evening after being outside sweating all day—maybe July is not the best time to come to Florence. We absolutely loved our cooking experience with Chef Michele—I highly recommend. I also recommend getting all your tickets in advance so you avoid standing in long hot lines. There are no tickets for the Duomo so for that go early before it opens to get in line in the shade. Other things to note: there are a lot of stairs and no elevator, so be sure everyone is ok walking up to the 5th floor. Also basic things are not provided. Be prepared to buy or bring toilet paper, napkins, soap, shampoo, etc. not a big deal if you plan to shop for food.
8.0 / 10.0
The location was great, a few steps away from Santa Croce and you can pretty much walk anywhere within 15 minutes. The apartment is on the 4th floor with a lot of steps - it was okay for our party for day to day but not fun with luggage.
The house was roomy enough for our party of 10 and the younger kids really enjoyed the upstairs bedroom and lookout. I could see the top of the Duomo from my bedroom window.
My only complaint was that the house was missing some things I would consider essentials (hand soap, dish soap, & toilet paper). There was only 1 roll of TP in each bathroom and unfortunately we ran out early the first morning and couldn't find any thing open nearby.
10.0 / 10.0
Wonderful!
6.0 / 10.0
Be prepared - unit is on 4th floor without elevator - walking several flights of stairs with bags is no big deal for most, but is an issue for some who are less fit.
On arrival only 1 set of keys for 4 bedroom apartment...did not receive 2nd set of keys until 4th day of stay after multiple requests. Entry hall looks OK with fancy spiral staircase, but carpets are heavily stained and really need to be cleaned. Living and dining rooms are adequate, but not overly comfortable. Kitchen is fine for basic cooking only.
Appearance of bedrooms is just OK - not very attractive with blank walls. Mattresses are borderline at best and should be replaced. Pillows are very uncomfortable and extra pillows in closet are unusable - all need to be replaced. Bathrooms are fine, but no soap, body wash, or shampoo provided.
Main drawback to unit is loud street noise at all hours of the night from Borgo dei Greci, which clearly is a thoroughfare from Piazza di Santa Croce (1 block away). Even with windows closed, frequently awakened throughout the night.
On the plus side, great location and good communication with property manager. Bottomline, could be a much nicer unit with some care and attention, but in its present state, would not use this property again.
8.0 / 10.0
Great location. Very spacious!
This fifth-floor walk up was just a few hundred yards from several amazing sights in Florence. The house was clean and offered plenty of space for all nine of us (two families with two kids each and Nona). The kitchen was adequately supplied with pots and pans, although some could use replacing. We only had one issue while we were there, and that was the main bathroom shower was not working at all. For nine people to be down a shower was pretty inconvenient. Unfortunately, our host fell ill while we were there, and so the response time was a bit frustrating, but we made do with the two smaller showers and the tub. Some of the beds were less than comfortable, but otherwise, this was a great space. Hopefully some updates will take place soon!

Family holiday in Florence
Excellent , large two level apartment in a great location in the city. The pictures and description match the condo. We had 6 adults and could easily have had two more. The owner repaired the a/c without us asking. Perhaps the highlight for us was in meeting Michele and spending a wonderful day with him giving us a cooking lesson
Highly recommend this apartment

Wonderful Beautiful apartment
This apartment was awesome! It was centrally located to all the sites in Florence. The apartment was beautiful clean and spacious for our group of 8. We used Michel for a cooking class he was wonderful and would highly recommend. Would definitely stay here again the next time we are in Florence!!
10.0 / 10.0
Spacious and centrally located!
3 adult couples shared this space and it worked for our needs as a central location to come and go in Florence. The bedrooms are spread out so we did not feel cramped or on top of each other. We could get anywhere in the historic center in just a few minutes, and there is a great cafe' down the street on the corner by Santa Croce (we went every morning for cappuccino) and a nice restaurant underneath the apartment. (try the pear risotto) Don't be off put by being on the 5th floor (6th in US terms) the stairs are wide and gradual.
We opted to have Michele' the chef come and do a cooking class with us our very first day, it was wonderful, he was fun and engaging and we learned so much about Italian cooking and culture...worth every penny!
Some things to note, WIFI is extremely spotty and only worked on the spiral staircase going to the 2nd level bedrooms, not a deal breaker but was only a slight inconvenience when trying to make reservations for dinner, etc. Also the dryer was non functioning, but we used the drying racks and it was fine. It was apparent that this property is used a lot as a rental, there are some slight repairs that need attention in the kitchen and bathrooms, but again, not deal breakers. Mike the owner responded very quickly when we brought the kitchen faucet problem to his attention and was willing to get a plumber out quickly to fix it. You can't ask for more than that. All in all, it is a great property and we would recommend it to anyone, especially a group, as a nice place to stay in central Florence.

It is beautif!
The penthouse was just beautiful. It worked very well for my family. There were 6 adults and 2 teenagers. We all had space. Quiet. There were a number of eating places just steps from the front door. Location was perfect. Important were enough keys for the adults to go their own way and still be able to get in whenever they came home. We rented other places and only had 1 key and it was very difficult. Air conditioning worked well which we took advantage of as it was about 100 F while we were there.

Great apartment for a large group
We were a group of 8 friends -- 3 couples and 2 singles -- and found the bedroom options and sleeping configurations in this apartment to be ideal. The common living area was very spacious and comfortable and the kitchen was big and fully functional. Great location with easy access to all the major sites without being in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. The only negatives were the bathroom configurations (none of the rooms had fully en suite accommodations); the 5 flights of stairs that we had to manage (we were definitely in shape by the end of our stay); the lack of a working dryer (this wasn't readily apparent from the apartment description; a drying rack was available and this worked like a charm); and the low supply of most toiletries and laundry supplies (different from other rentals we've stayed in). These were only minor distractions, however. The proprietor, Mike, was extremely responsive to e-mails, both before and during our stay, and as helpful as he could be with any questions we had along the way. We would definitely stay in this apartment if we ever had the chance again.

Wonderful home in Florence
Wonderful penthouse located in a great location in Florence. Rooms are large and comfortable. Mike was a great host and directed us to shopping and places that he liked to eat. We had ten people in our group and we were able to spread out comfortably. We would stay here again!
