The set-up of the property with the different room categories was great. We enjoyed having our own little garden area and the outdoor bathroom was definitely a highlight! We also liked the direct beach access and that the Tulum archaeological site was just a short walk away!
The entrance fee to get into the park where the hotel was located was a bit annoying as it had to be paid at every re-entrance. There were also restrictions about what you can bring into the park i.e. plastic bottles or alcoholic beverages.

+ wonderful jungle vibe
+ really nice and helpful staff
+ Beautiful beach.
+ Calm environment, quiet
+ Room cleaning was very good and clean towels were provided when necessary.
+ The huts are beautiful and spacious and well maintained, same for bathrooms.
+ Wonderful shower!!
- The restaurant is what brings the score down, very pricey
- Keep in mind that the hotel is located in the nation park of Tulum and if you go out from park you will pay an entrance fee

Lots of nasty mosquitoes

IKAL is a dream. I love how the bungalows are tucked into the jungle ... it's absolutely lovely. I loved the inside / outside bathrooms and the fetched roofs. My mom was a little taken aback by that and there were some ants. Different people have different needs. My toddler LOVED it and so did I.
They even have Nespresso machines and a fridge.
They also have an array of nice activities for adults and kids.
The only thing I didn't like was that one day when we were spending time at the pool a waiter told us there was a minimum spend on food and drink of 100 UDS for sitting by the pool (the only place with shade). I told him we are guests - he dropped it to 80 UDS. I told him that's not what we were told and we will spend as much as we will spend. We ate multiple meals there at the hotel while we were staying there, just not that specific lunch. The waiter never came back to bother us but I didn't feel comfortable there anymore and went to Villa Poncho the next afternoon where we had a nice lunch and launched in their share for hours without anyone bothering us.

I liked the little details like having a fire, I liked the sand in the restaurant, I liked the relaxed vibe.
Our mayan lodge was really cold at night. Weather dropped to 15*C and just wished there was a small heater.

The location, the concept of Cabanas is great. The amenities and facilities are good too
I think they could work on putting some signage so that people can drive towards the property easily

Dommage

A magical rustic cabana in a new-ageish beachy setting, expect sand & creaky floors that add to the mystique. A beautiful outdoor bathroom in our own palm-filled yard. Falling asleep to the sound of the wind in the trees and the waves. Oh, and the beachside restaurant was creative & fantastic, not typical beach bar fare, impressive!
$9 kombucha in the mini-bar. The Tibetan temple in the middle of the grounds played thumping club-meditation music for a ceremony at 7am Sunday morning.

It was a great place. Is so bohemian and you are so part of nature there. The architecture is amazing and the staff is so friendly and helpful. I loved the way they accommodate the kids there. Is fantastic place and will be back soon.

The yoga was the best. The area to practice yoga is beautiful and serene, overlooking the ocean. The property had more peaceful moments than not. I like that I had a private entrance with a gate that locked. The room was comfortable and had plenty of room. Upon my arrival, they had a sign with a happy birthday message, a chocolate treat, and a bottle of wine chilled in a bucket, it was very thoughtful! In reception, Anna, who showed me to my room was kind and welcoming. Another time when I rented a bike it was Ed in reception who was helpful, even recommending a good coffee place. The bartender would refill my mug with ice every time I asked. They had live music on several nights I was there, it was nice. I also felt like they did a good job of mosquito control, various incense and things were burned, the smoke did not bother me and I didn't get bit by bugs!
Overall it was pleasant, just not the guest feeling I was hoping for.
Although the property was beautiful, there were no markings, or signage, as to where you were going and only some areas had lighting at night. They are a family-friendly hotel, which is great if you are a family, however, for solo travelers and romance it has drawbacks. The staff of the reception and restaurant weren't always responsive. The lounge chairs around the pool and covered areas had an $80 US charge, even for guests and even when you were eating and drinking at the restaurant/bar. There was no emphasis on customer service or a guest experience. I felt like I was just like anyone that walked off the beach. So for me, I did not feel good value for the money I spent there. The concierge area near the beach had a water bottle but it did not have water in it each time I checked. I could get it from the restaurant area, but often it needed to be refilled. Sometimes at the restaurant, they would give me ice and filtered water in a glass, and other times, when I ordered they would bring a bottle that would be charged to my bill.

Yoga classes in the morning, the accommodations on the beach, and friendly staff
3.5 / 5.0
I really enjoyed the laid-back vibe. I liked the way the accommodations are spaced out. I also liked the variety of yoga classes offered.
The food and the service were not very good. The servers added 20% tip to your bill. It was very pricey.

The food was incredible and the location was breathe taking!
When we booked we were informed that we would have a range of amenities available to us which was included in the price. Including massages, yoga, a safe in the room, daily cleaning services etc. However upon arrival none of these things were included but came with an extra cost! As well as this we weren’t informed about the fees to enter the hotel so everytime we left the area to go into town we had to pay a fee which was never stated to us! We had to ask multiple times if someone could clean our room which they eventually did on the third occasion. Overall underwhelming won’t recommend and ended up checking out 4 days early!

great value for money , its a great resort
No more fun events at the location , the music has to stop at 21:00 so it became more of a family location

also echt eine Frechheit

Everything! This was everything we pictured and more. We were upgraded to a tree house once we arrived and this was complimentary from one of the front desk staff. I believe her name is Rebecca.
Beware that there are lot of mosquitoes in Tulum so gear up.

Location was great, right on the beach.
Food was totally disappointing, half of items on menu
were not available. No salads at all. The hamburger and chips were passable. Requested an airport pickup which was recorded but no one showed up. Very distressing. Had to get a taxi for the 90 minute drive. Were met by Security guard no one else around.

You are definitely at one with nature there which is great but has its cons too. The beach area
is brilliant, comfy sun beds and great beach access. Restaurant food was good and nice to eat with your feet in the sand.
No hot water, kettle or door to bed was definitely difficult for us. Understand its part of the experience but you do feel like your paying a lot of money to slum it. Sometimes we didn't have running water at all and had to use a water bottle to brush our teeth. We were unfortunate with the weather which isn't the hotels fault, but because the room is totally open and there's no where to put your clothes, everything felt damp all the time including our sheets. Room wasnt cleaned very often either. We also told the hotel well in advance that we were getting married during our stay and the hotel made no effort to make it special for us. I asked for petals on the bed and they wanted to charge us 90 dollars to do so which we declined. Restaurant had good food but very expensive.

Loved the openness, we booked the beach villa and it was amazing having our own little pool and being right on the beach! It’s like luxury and boho met in the middle, they make you comfortable, but you still feel a little bit in the wilderness. It was wonderful! The staff was so kind and helpful with what experiences to take etc, we would love to come back with our whole family!

The beach club of the hotel with its relaxing vibe and amazing view of the sea. Also, it was such a nice experience to have your own private green ‘paradise’ surrounding your cabin including outside shower and toilet.
The bed was not that good - it had a sagging mattress and the blanket was not very comfortable.

The hospitality was great only certain foods were good such maracuyá drink and traditional TULÚM beer.
The restaurant food portions were very small and expensive, food was not authentic mexican food neither American technically it was very expensive and flavorless.

The breakfast included was a joke. Everything was charged extras, even tortillas! We have been traveling in Mexico for 45 years and never been charged for tortillas. Even the sliced limes were charged extra!
Everything was extra on the menu, tortillas, limes, and ham in the eggs. A canned Coke was $6.50 American dollars!! A small margarita was $15.00 American dollars, more expensive than the States. It was price gouging at it's finest. The beach did not have umbrellas nor chairs to offer, not even to rent.
