About this house rental
This vacation home has been beautifully renovated with the idea that a rental can feel unique and personal rather than generic and impersonal. Located in the beach community of Whalehead in Corolla, this upscale home features two en suite master bedrooms and two bedrooms having two twin beds each and a shared bathroom -- perfect for one or two families, a girls’ weekend, or a couple wanting a cozy home that's neither too big nor too small.
For the hot summer months, the private pool is refreshing, and the covered pergola poolside will allow for hours spent reading, napping or socializing without getting sunburned. And the fun can continue into the evening with the grill fired up and the lights on! There is a double swing on the mid-level deck, also a nice spot to enjoy by yourself or with a companion.
The house comes with beach umbrellas and chairs, as well as a decent collection of boogie boards and sandcastle building "equipment" for the kids. There’s also a cart to carry all this, making the short walk to the beach even easier. It’s only a three minute walk down a nice paved boardwalk to the beach. For those familiar with Whalehead, this is the Barracuda Walkway.
The house also offers some privacy, as it is surrounded by stands of pines, making it feel like it’s tucked in its own little cocoon.
As the owner/reservation agent/concierge whose been vacationing here for over twenty-five years, I'm happy to help my guests with their vacation planning. I care that all guests thoroughly enjoy their time spent in my home and this wonderful beach area.

We have stayed at Julie’s house the past 4 years and we keep coming back to it every summer because it’s just perfect. We have two boys and two girls between our families and the bedrooms they share are perfect. It’s a short walk to the beach or less than 10 min to drive on the beach in Carova. The pool is private and is a great set up to enjoy. The kitchen is stocked with anything you may need which we appreciate since we cook mostly every meal. Julie is incredibly responsive and just a delight to work with. We will be back again next summer!

Location was great. Right next to the boardwalk to get to the beach. We used the beach chairs, umbrellas and beach cart. Was nice to not have to rent. Pool was wonderful. Kitchen was well stocked. Lots of spices to choose from. Loved the porch swing. I think it was everyone's favorite spot. Would definitely rent again.

The pictures of the house don’t do it justice! The house is beautiful, clean, has just about anything you need, and has a great layout! It’s secluded, but a few steps away from the access path to the beach. There’s plenty to do in the area, and the host (Julie) is great with providing information prior to check-in about places to eat and places to go. We’ll definitely be back! ❤️

The easy 2 block walk way to the beach right off the driveway is a giant plus for this property. The pool was clean and enjoyed by all. Wifi weak on 3rd floor (owner working on that). Been in rentals with better kitchen supplies--no starter paper towels, no dish towels, rags or sponge, no dish detergent--dishwasher pods were plentiful. House decor very tasteful. Owner responsive to questions while at property.

Julie has a lovely property. It is clean and comfortable. The pool was perfect. The beach is a very short and easy walk. We rented bikes, learned to surf, and saw the wild horses. This property was close to everything but still peaceful. Don't hesitate to stay here.

This property was perfect for our family getaway to Corolla. We traveled with a family of 4 and grandparents. There was ample space and accommodations for everyone. Everything was provided. Having the washer and dryer was very convenient. The beach was just a short walk and the property included everything needed for the beach (wagon, carts, beach toys, chairs, umbrellas.) The property also has a nice sized pool which was good because the beach had red flags and we couldn’t swim in the ocean. The kids rooms are nice and have thoughtful touches that the kids were excited about (LEGOS in the boy’s room and plush sea creatures in the girl’s room). We also enjoyed reading the books available in their rooms. The property is mostly private for where it is located. It is also a short drive to some good restaurants, shopping, grocery store, arcade, etc. Lastly, the property owner was very responsive and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Perfect home for a group of 4-6 people. Walk to the beach was about 10 minutes and a well constructed walkway right by the house made it easy to get to. House was furnished beautifully, beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed, including an amazing selection of spices. Pool was the BEST -- and we'll never rent another home without one! Thank you, Julie, for sharing your home and for all the suggestions you made to make our trip so memorable!

Julies property was a wonderful stay. Nestled in the trees, the 3rd floor seemed more like a stay in a tree house than at the beach. Do not be fooled though, a quick walk on the direct path to the ocean gives you the best of both worlds! Private swimming pool, comfortable beds, fully furnished kitchen made our vacation one of the bests we ever had!

Convenient location to all area attractions. Very clean,open floor plan, great kitchen, several decks and porch swing were a plus. Clean pool, short walking distance to the beach. I was traveling with grandparents and my children. Everyone had a great time. Julie was very quick to respond to any questions I had. Only thing I would recommend is a gas grill and a railing for the pool stairs. Other than that perfect vacation house will be returning.

The house was clean, the kitchen was probably the best stocked kitchen we have ever seen in a beach house, and it was incredibly close to the beach. What more can you ask for? The kids loved the pool and moms loved everything else!

This property was amazing! It had everything we needed and more. We could not have asked for a better place. Make sure you rent bikes and ride all around. The lighthouse and places to eat is a mile away. Also, wild horses are a must see. The pool is great to jump in and get refreshed. We will stay again!

We really enjoyed the short walk to the beach. Lots of things to do nearby. Julie was absolutely wonderful with response time to questions/concerns. The pool area was nice. We didn’t get to enjoy nearly as much as we wanted to due to the weather but the kids had no trouble jumping in. We did run into a few small problems(Julie fixed them rather quickly). I loved that laundry soap, dish soap, pots, pans, etc were provided. It saved us extra packing. Overall, we had a great stay!! Thanks Julie!

Julie is such a friendly host! She is super accommodating to guests flying in. I thought the house was a great value with a spacious living room (2 teens / 3 adults) that bleeds into the kitchen, so nice and open! The screened-in porch and deck areas on each floor were nice as well! The swinging chair was an added bonus. The walk to the beach is pretty quick too! You are minutes from lots of amenities... horse tours, shopping, groceries, etc. The pool is super clean, but it was too chilly for us lightweights, as we came mid October. The master bedroom / bathroom appears newly renovated, with nice morning sunrise views. We bought groceries for a seafood boil (plenty of seafood locations to pick from) and the charcoal grill was great for grilling. The spice drawer is fantastic!

You have found your dream vacation rental!
I have been staying in the outer banks since I was a young child and now I take my family there each year. I have stayed in dozens and dozens of rental homes and this was by far our best experience. The owner literally thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. The house is beautifully decorated and the pool was AWESOME with the best deck/seating we’ve ever seen down there. The walk to the beach was so easy and cute with a nice walking path. If that isn’t enough, I really can’t say enough about the owner. She was incredibly accommodating when I reached out with a request the day before we left. Then my youngest had a mishap while we were there and she could not have been more kind. We will definitely be planning a return and truly appreciate all you do to go above and beyond!

Cozy, Beautiful Beach Home!
If you're deciding whether to stay here or not, DO IT!
This beach house is kept very clean, has beautiful decor, and everything you could possibly need! From a beach cart and toys, an ammmmazing pool area with fabulous/comforatble outdoor seating, to a kitchen loaded with everything (the spice drawer being my personal fav)! This house is up to date with a big TV, appliances, a skylight in the master bathroom, and when you walk out the door you can go right onto a walkway that leads straight to the beach! My family and I enjoyed everyday there! We'll definetly be back!

Home away from home
My family had a wonderful week at Julie’s lovely home. It was perfect for our group of 5. We are a bunch of neat freaks and were so pleased with the attention to this home. It was so clean and perfectly equipped. Direct access to the beach was wonderful and we also made great use of the pool. Thank you for sharing this lovely home!!!

Second stay at this wonderful home!
Great location, easy access to the beach, and open and sunny living/dining/kitchen area. Great supply of beach chairs, carts and toys. Great communication with owner. Very relaxing trip. Enjoyed meals in the dining room and out on the screened porch. This trip we were able to drive on the beach to see the wild horses, visit Jockey's Ridge, and kayak in the Kitty Hawk Maritime Forest. Great meals at La Dolce Vita, Corolla Cantina, Stack 'Em High, Bernie's Brother, and Sun Fish Grill.
Only wish there were more full-size or queen beds rather than kids beds. We're usually traveling with a group of adults/couples.

Perfect Family Getaway
This was the perfect rental for our family of five. Short walk to the beach and the private pool made it the perfect place for us. We cooked almost all our meals and the kitchen was perfectly stocked with everything we needed to cook. Communication with the owner was easy and she was able to answer all our questions. Much needed family time
This house was perfect in every way! We have been renting cation homes for many years and this was absolutely one of our favorites for sure. So clean, so cozy, so well appointed. We brought all of our normal things we bring to a rental house and wound up leaving most of it in the car- the house had everything and more! It is decorated so beautifully - so calming and beachy-but w/o screaming "im a beach house"- just beautifully done. The master bedroom is a dream to wake up in. It was too cold to go in the pool during our week in April but we did hang out there in the sun in the afternoon and it was so relaxing. We would definitely stay here again! The owner was wonderful and great communication from the start.

Pure Joy
I will remember this trip for a very long time. I have been to the Outer Banks many times and have not experienced this type of house in a good long while. The design detail was just so impressive. The main bedroom was over the top comfortable. I will recommend to friends and family for a good long while and will come back again for another stay.

The rental house was perfect. Walking distance to the beach. House was supplied with everything you needed (didn’t have to bring anything) the hostess was amazing she thought of everything you would need. Would defiantly rent the house again.

OBX Thanksgiving Vacation
What an awesome property to spend an OBX thanksgiving with family. The property owner gave us a personal call asking if we needed anything prior to arriving and let us check in early! The property is located close to the beach and close to Duck and Corolla, which have everything you need from coffee shops, shopping, grocery stores, and dining. The best part was we were there for thanksgiving and the kitchen has everything we needed to help make the meal!
Would def recommend to anyone looking for a roomy, comfortable, and pleasant place to vacation in the OBX!!

Lovely property
Julie’s property is lovely. Her attention to detail, extra amenities provided alone give you the sense immediately that you’re on vacation. She also was very sweet, attentive and made the rental experience so easy! So many decks and extra cushions on porch swing, great place to view the sunrise the last morning.

Really private, idyllic spot, VERY close to beach
Stayed with my husband, sister and her fiance, but felt the house could have comfortably fit more of us, too! Very spacious and beautifully themed rooms. There's no real view of the water, but the surrounding trees made it feel like an exceptionally private beach retreat and using the upper deck screen room was a favorite to hear waves, birds and watch the sky (especially at sunrise/sunset). Very clean and well stocked and we LOVED our stay. The path to the beach is steps from the house (right at the end of the driveway) and then it's a quick two block walk to the beach. Boards in the outdoor shower have gotten a little spongy, but it has great water pressure and runs warm/cold water, with spacious changing area. Also, there are three full baths inside, so plenty of options! We would definitely come here again!
