Corolla. Just the name evokes something wild and free. The wild horses that roam the beach. The Currituck lighthouse that still guides the sailors home. Corolla is now home to many activities, restaurants and attractions, yet still manages to maintain a remnant of the old Outer Banks. It is felt by all who travel here.
True to its name, The Blue Heron will greet you with its beautiful Carolina blue exterior. The home is a delight for all ages, with its bright decor and charming colors. Spanning three interior and exterior levels, there is plenty of room for everyone to claim their own spot. From the intimate lounge on the first level to the crow's nest way up on the third level, there are plenty of special spaces for the whole group.
Surely, though, the whole group will gather together at the 12 x 26 pool in the backyard. There are plenty of Adirondack chairs and loungers. Even a picnic table if you feel like dining al fresco! Take a dip in the bubbling hot tub and feel all your cares melting away...
Again, the third level Great Room will surely serve as the central gathering space for the group. Whip up a snack or a full meal in the kitchen, enjoy the view out the breakfast nook window or watch your favorite movie or TV show in the great room with wall-mounted TV.
The Blue Heron is just a quick 3-block walk to the wide sandy beaches of Corolla. Be sure to spend some quality family time enjoying nature at its very finest. There's nothing like the aquamarine waters and sugary sands of the Outer Banks. Memories made here are forever.

**The Blue Heron is pet-friendly, so there is no need to leave your pooch at home! For a small one-time fee of $135, you can bring up to two dogs to our pet-friendly property. No cats or other animals, dogs only.**
**Private unheated pools will open on April 16th and close on October 1st. Hot Tubs are available year-round. Pools and hot tubs are cleaned weekly and no later than 6pm on check-in day. Vendors are subject to enter backyard to clean the pool and/or spa on scheduled cleaning days. No pets allowed in pools.**
Check-In begins at 4pm. Your keyless entry code will begin granting access at this time.

We enjoyed the location of this property! It was a short walk to the beach, close to shops, restaurants & grocery stores. The house was perfect for our family of 4, the pool & hot tub were a huge plus for us! The only issue we had was the trash from prior renters was left behind so my husband ended up taking it out. There were no trash bags & hand soap on the top level & when we called/emailed/messaged about it, we were told someone would drop it by the same day and after numerous follow ups, that finally happened 3 days into our stay. By that time, we had already gone out and bought trash bags and hand soap from the grocery store.
Aside from that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We would definitely stay there again but we likely would make sure we brought back up trash bags and soap so we didn’t have to play the back and forth game with the property management group.

Our family really enjoyed the house. The house is set up perfectly for a family to enjoy time together but also to enjoy outdoor spaces together. The beds were comfortable and kitchen is well stocked. The house is also very close to grocery stores, restaurants and shopping. When staying at this house you must go to the turtle pond and feed the turtles just right by the house.

We only had the long weekend, but wanted to get to the beach. It is nice that this was available for less than a week. Nice that you can bring dogs.
About 10 minute walk to the beach. Nice little lake with a path around it that is nice for walking dogs. Close to Timbuck II with restaurants and shops.
Pool small but functional. Covered hot tub area is nice. Bathroom and shower near hot tub is a plus.
All living space is on third level. Dogs got their exercise following us up and down. 😀

This is the best location I have stayed in in OBX, wonderful neighborhood and a few blocks from the beach, such a great vibe! The beds were super comfortable, each room had its own bathroom, the kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of room for everyone. Pool and hot tub were amazing. We had a problem with one of the AC units, we called and they had someone there within an hour. Definitely one of the perks of going through a place that has a management company. I don't think we will look any further for our next trip, this is the winner!

nice vacation stay
It was a great house and had nice amenities. There were a couple hiccups (ice maker didn't work, TVs were a bit difficult to figure out), but overall it was a great stay. Deck access was awesome, deck furniture very nice, pool was clean and refreshing.

Great location, awesome house!
The house was amazing! Exactly as listed, the pool and hot tub was such a hit for the kids and the adults honestly lol. The location of the house is perfect, very quiet, and just a short 30 second walk to a little lake where you can feed the turtles. As soon as you walk up to the lake, the turtles start swimming towards the shore, so bring some snacks for them if you go down there. Overall a great stay and we will be back!

Great beach house in Corolla. Pool is a nice addition!
This beach rental has many positives qualities such as large bedrooms, each with their own bathroom; a brightly-lit kitchen and living room area; a short walk to the nearest beach access; and a swimming pool and hot tub in the back yard.
My only complain with this rental was that the home was not ready to check in at the stated time. No fault to the cleaning crew, who were clearly doing the best that they could- given the circumstances (apparently, the previous renters refused to leave the property at the designated check-out time). Because the trip was only a weekend getaway, we felt that we lost valuable time waiting for the cleaning crew to have the property ready for us to check in. The previous renters also forgot to put out the garbage on trash day, so we were left with more trash than could fit in the garbage bins.

Great house! Very spacious and totally fun with pool and hot tub , outdoor shower , etc. unfortunately the Kees Vacation company never responded to 3 emails and 2 phone call messages to communicate about the property prior to arriving and drain problems in two bathroom showers. Great house.... not so good management company

Beach Trip
Beach house with plenty of space. The house has an amazing pool and hot tub that was really enjoyable. The house could have been a little bit cleaner. There was food underneath one of the couches. Great neighborhood and a short walk to the beach although you can’t see the beach from the house. There is a short trail beside the house that you can walk with your dogs and see a ton of turtles that a local feeds. Overall a great stay.

Safe Vacation
Great vacation for social distancing. Area is not too crowded. Was able to have plenty of space at beach and restaurants had outdoor seating etc. House was close to everything. We spent most of our time at the great pool and hot tub.

Poor communication.
I had concerns about how the home was cleaned before we arrived. The owners/property managers never replied via VRBO. When we arrived the home was very clean inside (despite there being food in the fridge and adult novelty toys from a batchlorette party in a drawer) but all the windows and sliders were open. I assume to let the home air out from deep cleaning?
Also, it rained quite heavily while we were there and the 3rd floor slider began leaking into the living room. The carpet near the door was soaked. I called the property manager’s emergency number and got no answer. I also called the regular number and left a message as it was after hours. No one returned my call.

We enjoyed our stay. The house was as described and the location very convenient. The only thing I'd recommend is to bring your own kitchen knives..the ones at the property are extremely dull & you cannot prep/cook with them. But other than that minor thing everything was great and we would return.

We loved our stay at this house. House was well equipped and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. Great neighborhood; house is about a quarter mile from the beach, all residential. Pool and hot tub were in great shape.

Nice beach house with pool/hot tub
We enjoyed our stay over Labor Day weekend at the blue heron. The layout was very spacious for all 4 couples and pool and hot tub with outdoor bathroom was great. Only downfall was it was not very clean. Linens (pillows on bed) and couches were dirty and upstairs bathroom had plumbing issue.

Beautiful oasis
This home was the perfect place for a short family vacation. We were sad to leave and wished we had booked a few more days. The check in process was a breeze. The beach was a short walk away through a trail by the lake that leads to the beach access point. The pool and hot tub were clean and the perfect place to relax while grilling on the propane grill. We enjoyed the size of the house, and even with 8 adults and a pitbull, we had more than enough space to have some alone time. We loved the house and look forward to going back in the future, next time we all agreed we have to stay for a week!

Unsatisfactory Housekeeping
I am sorry to have to wrote this review. My husband and I, along with 4 friends, were very disappointed in the overall cleanliness of this property. Upon arrival, the bottom level of house was in disarray, Sand and dirt all over parking area as well as patio areas.
Furniture was not orderly and in place.
When we entered home, it was obvious the carpet had been partially vacuumed. There was dust/sand on furniture tops.
Throw pillows on upstairs couches were stained and had random/disheveled placement on couches.
It was quite embarrassing to pull plates and silverware out of cabinets and find dried food still present.
There is also a sink/shower drain issue.
To be honest, I wish I could communicate with homeowner and make them aware of the cleaning service and the concerns. I would be mortified if anyone paid this large amount of money and entered my home in this condition.
All of these issues are easily corrected.
Presentation is everything.
We would not recommend this property to anyone in its current condition.

Awesome and relaxing Outerbanks Vacation property
We received all information well ahead of time to check in. The check in process was super easy and non invasive. All we did was use the access code. No meet ups or exchange of keys. This was great with a large group going back and forth from the beach to the house. No need to keep up with or pass around keys. Simple access code is genius. The property was exactly as recommended and spotless. The pool hot tub and grill were all ready to go upon arrival. The house was clean and appointed completely. we brought nothing but towels and toilet paper. Everything else was there, plates, cups, cooking utensils, pots, pans etc. there were even k cups for the coffee maker!!! The house is a short walk to the beach and we just loved the pool and hot tub area. Grill also worked great. We used it two nights in a row!! This was literally a turn key vacation rental. Absolutely loved it.

We stayed at Blue Heron over the long holiday weekend and loved it! An easy walk to the beach through the neighborhood with great views from the deck. Best feature is that every bedroom has it's own bath! Dining table seats 8 easily, plus there's another table that seats 4. I love the "Ship's Watch" for reading. Brand new hot tub, and there's a private pool!!
