Really handy for excel building
My room was utterly disgusting. I don’t normally write these reviews but I couldn’t not say anything. The window wouldn’t open, the TV didn’t work, there were stains over all the carpet and bed and the chair was so stained I couldn’t sit on it!

The location. It’s close by London Excel where I needed to be for a conference. Great bathroom accessories.
Multiple appliances didn’t work. Housekeeping skipped my room 2 of the 4 days I stayed there. In the middle of the night a lot of noice from fire works and drunken people on the street in front of my room.

My room was upgraded to what I believe was a "Queen's room". This included a spacious washroom with a shower, as well as plenty of closet space, a small desk area, and the addition of a sofa bed. It was clean, and generally comfortable and the addition of a mini fridge and lockable safe for valuables was especially nice to see. The incredibly close location to the ExCel Centre was also greatly appreciated, with it practically being right on the doorstep!
While there appeared to be an air conditioning dial, there were no instructions on how it worked, and despite having it presumably on and set to the coldest setting, the room still became a little uncomfortably warm even with the window opened as wide as it could be. Had the room been a little cooler with the air conditioning, my stay would have been extremely comfortable with little to no complaints!
In terms of cost, while I understand room prices will go up around events such as Comic Con, paying almost £500 for two nights is a little steep, and to have stayed for the full convention weekend of 3 nights would have cost me almost £800, forcing me to find alternative accommodation for one of the nights and meaning I had to travel back and forth quite a distance for the first day or two.

It was super close to the excel and close to the event we were attending at the excel. It had great facilities.

We were at the back of the hotel. It was extremely noisy with bins being emptied, including bottles being tipped in a skip in the early hours of the morning! We must have been next to a cleaners cupboard as all we could hear was thee as t door banging constantly as the cleaner went back and forth.

The Location was excellent for what we needed.
The hotel was quite disappointing. Our room was not the cleanest and badly in need of a makeover. The reception staff were pleasant, that cannot be said for the bar and restaurant staff. While not rude they were more interested in each other than the residents, everything seemed like hard work. I ordered a pint of larger that came with a label of some sort in it. When I pointed it out the bar tender looked at me and insinuated that I had put it there. He didn't know what to do until a more senior member came over and apologised and poured me a fresh drink. Food was basic and expensive for what we had. Overall I expected much better.

The temperature of the room was set very high at 26.7 by the management. The air conditioner in any rooms was not working properly. In fact, we had to change 3 rooms to find a slightly more comfortable cool room. When we got the maintenance guy to look at it, his only solution was to keep the windows open and use a table fan.

I liked my room, it was clean and the bed was very comfortable.
I was told my upgrade would cost £11 that I would pay on-site yet this was more expensive when I arrived. Even with an upgrade, I had an obscured view. When I first arrived the TV didn't work also.

Housekeeping was really not good. The general standard of cleanliness in the room was poor. The "stone" basin in the bathroom was not clean (and did not drain well), and half-finished coffee cups were not washed; they were simply ignored. Spills and crumbs in the coffee and tea-making area were also not cleaned and we found some left-behind food in the fridge from a previous guest as well.
Breakfast was a mixed bag and certainly not worth the £24 charge - low-quality food, tough pancakes and cold eggs is simply not good enough in a 4-star
The reception staff seemed harassed and not very customer focussed or friendly.

The room was really hot, when maintenance came to the room he advised that we couldn’t lower the heat less than 23 degrees, it was hotel policy. That’s way too hot to have a comfortable night sleep, we all woke up both mornings having g not slept, stuffy headaches and exhausted
The rain fall shower head didn’t work properly either, it was caked in limescale and the water didn’t come through most of the spouts

The shower did not work in our room. We didn’t have much time to get ready and the response to our reporting this was very slow. Slow to pick up the phone. Also. There is no room service after 10pm and there were only 2 items on the menu to choose from anyway. The hotel looks and feels like quality but imo the service is lagging behind. Did ask to be upgraded if possible for the shower hassle but was told no. No manager available until next day. I didn’t hear from the Manager. I don’t think I would return based on the service levels. Shame as I said it could be a lot better.

Late arrival and the restaurant had stopped serving by 5 minutes. No flexibility on this but told to use the room service. Called room service but told no room service dining at all. I was suggested to order an Uber eats or Deliveroo which I had to in the end. Not an acceptable standard for a business traveller hotel, which this is aimed at.

Room was lovely. Lovely hotel. Be warned they charge you £2.00 to bring your drinks to the table. Other than that this hotel is idea for visiting the Excel.

I recently had a delightful stay at the Novotel Hotel near London ExCeL. The hotel’s prime location is perfect for anyone attending events or conferences at the ExCeL, as it’s just a short walk away. Additionally, it’s well-connected to public transport, making it easy to explore central London.
The room was spacious, and equipped with all the modern amenities I needed, including a comfortable bed and a fantastic view of the docklands. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with any request. The check-in process was seamless, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was warm and inviting.
The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of both hot and cold options, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. If you’re seeking convenience, comfort, and excellent service in the London Docklands area, I highly recommend Novotel London ExCeL. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to London!

Room was far to hot and aircon did not work, waking me up at 2am with no means to cool the room down and open the window - the hotel is next to London city airport which meant any chance of a lie in was not an option with the window open!

I also liked the fact that is closed to the docks and it provides a more "summer" feeling to your stay.
Ideal if you need to be close to East London
