Incredible gardens and location

Location and incredible gardens

It was very tired and food was disappointing. Missing a trick not offering better quality food and afternoon tea as gardens are incredible the good didn’t reflect the same standard.

The faded grace of the hotel made us feel Sad....God's waiting room!

We very much liked the Location and the friendly, helpful Staff are the hotel's only saving grace.

The Rooms and Furniture are terrible cheap old/modern tat that is worn and dirty to the point of ingrained dirt which is unable to be cleaned. The Decor is not just dated and faded, it's more than a bit worn, scratched and flaking. The Bar is Awful!

Simply perfect, dog friendly (even with their own sausages cut up ready for brekky!) & just what one wants / nee

Stayed here before, quiet, spotless, lovely staff, hence came back :)

Grounds & Location

Ancient heating system. Constant drilling sound from both floors vibrating throughout, couldn’t sleep. Gutters leaking as full of plants, debris. Requires refurbishing and decorating. Staff not engaging. Poor TV choice. Pool and facilities dirty and not maintained. Set meal although tasty, not value for money. Breakfast choice and quantity of plated cooked breakfast poor. Will not be return/recommend.

We arrived and nobody was at reception. We waited good 15 min while the staff walked past us. They saw us but didnt bother to tend to us. The lady checking us in had a pretty horrible attitude as if she didn't care either and as if we were a nuissance to her. We got to the room and it wasnt the one we booked. It was run down and could easily be from the 20s. We went down to ask for the room we booked. She said the pictures on booking.com are just an idea of what one might get not the actual room. She also said it was an upgrade to the room we were meant to get. I asked to get the room we had booked months ago and she said it was taken as we only stay one night. So we asked for our money back and left. The staff was not friendly at all and said that guests make this mistake all the time when really what they do is fraud - selling something under fals pretences forcing people in a situation that potentially forces their hands. We were meant to have a romantuc couples retreat. Drove all day, had no charge in our phones left when we arrived and then in the dark at 8 pm had to try to source another room that was overpriced due to the spontaneous nature of our situation. DO NOT BOOK!!!!

The pool was cold as they were waiting to have it fixed but it was fine

Comfortable, peaceful, convenient location for those w/out auto.

Housecleaning staff supurb. Room, bath facilities spotless. Best: always maintained plentiful supply of coffee. Often overlooked in many hotels.

Lovely setting. However pigeons liked cooing, flocking to roof, nearby trees. Noisy birds! Did not access restaurant since limited options.

Enjoyed our visit and first trip to Minehead and would stay again .

Lovely garden. Easy walk through garden into town and beach. Nice comfortable room and bed. Friendly hard working staff. Good bar and restaurant. Excellent breakfast.

Breakfast room split into two areas, an older darker panelled part and a bright airy side with lots of windows.Unfortunately we were in the darker room which was a little difficult for our ageing eyes.

great location, beautiful grounds. friendly staff, large room, good breakfast

Lovely, clean, big room with seaview. Location, and gardens were amazing. Staff were all first class.

Very good

The staff were amazing! So attentive and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble you have an amazing team. Swimming pool very clean and well maintained. Breakfast had a good variety and was very nice. Gardens are beautiful. We will definately be back.

The entertainment finished a little early but this is to cater for guests that want to go to bed early. Our family room was right next to the top of the stairs. This wasn't a problem once we were settled so I didn't mention it but it was my first initial thought especially for someone with small children but not sure how this would be resolved. The lift is very old school so I was a bit weary at first as the door and gate are heavy but all worked well and maintained well.

Very good

Nice room with view of Minehead and the beach, staff were great, breakfast was brilliant as well as the 4 coirse evening meal.which we had one night. Swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room was lovely to use. Gardens are nice to stroll through and very handy to walk to centre of Minehead

This is a personal preference but found the bed unable to get comfortable in and water pressure for shower was low.

Comfortable traditional Hotel

Warm welcome. Big well appointed Deluxe room with refurbished barhroom. Good shower/bath. Comfortable double bed. Nice view over garden. Small indoor pool/jacuzzi & steam room. Breakfast OK. Good choice of wines.

Cooking variable. Dinner in restaurant was pretty poor, beef like old leather, very few veg on all our plates. Meals in Bar much better.

Comfortable with great options

Staff were very friendly and courteous. Leisure facilities were a bonus and used well. Location to our needs was perfect as we have family nearby. Earmarked for a future stay.

great location. parking free on site. Restaurant on site. good food. large clean room. friendly staff. view from room.

Great value for money so nothing really to dislike. parts of the hotel were dated. the en suite bathroom in our room was dated. clean and tidy and fit for purpose.
