This 3 bedroom/2 bath home is a welcome retreat from your busy mainland lifestyle, with its vaulted ceilings, tropical island-style furnishings, fully-equipped kitchen, large laundry room, recessed lighting and skylights throughout, front courtyard, and backyard LANAI complete with lounge chairs, gas grill, hibiscus, and swaying palm trees.

Poipu Kai is a great location when visiting Kauai. This home has three bedrooms which is great for 1-2 families. Plenty of beds, futons and porta-cribs for littles. Overhead fans but NO A/C which is a big drawback during summer months. It gets quite hot and takes a long time to cool down, especially if there's not much of an evening breeze. Would be helpful if there were black out curtains on all windows to keep the heat out and additional fans as the overhead fan in of the bedrooms was not very strong. Nice lanai, grill and coolers to use during the day and beach stuff (boogies boards), chairs (one was broken). As mentioned by others, internet does not work in bedrooms. Pool was nice and it's within walking distance to Poipu beach (which is great).

Great location. The kids loved the daily wagon rides to Shipwreck Beach. Was a chill few days in a nice house. The house gets a little stuffy when it’s hot during the day so the more air flow you get going the better. Not super important but I think a remote might be missing for the living room TV (couldn’t figure out how to go “back”). All in all a great trip. Would stay again.

Pros:
-Great location in Poipu walkable to Poipu beach & shipwreck beach (Grand Hyatt).
-You can tell it is dated from the photos, but I actually found it was better in-person than in the photos. But significant updates
-Well stocked a ton of kitchen items, beach items, etc. Nothing is in good shape, but worked fine.
-The house is large and comfortable, plenty of room for 2 families (4 adults + 2 kids)
Cons:
-My main annoyance was the wifi only worked in the living room and not in the bedrooms.
-There is a TV remote missing in the main living room.
-Couldn't get the TV to work in the bedroom at all. Would be great if they would invest in a master remote or something to make the TVs easier to use particularly in the living room
-The information was outdated in the info packet for example the first 4 restaurants I looked up that were recommended were all closed (an info packet is just a nice to have and not a necessity, but thought I would mention as it fits the theme of the house that it's just not well maintained)
-It was in the high 60s so not too hot, using fans, ceiling fans, and the outdoor window vents did cool down the house but I'd be worried if it was much hotter was still a little stuffy

It was the perfect place for our family. The description was accurate to a point because I somehow missed that this house is in the perfect location for everything. Poipu and all the beaches around it are a short walk away with turtles and seals and waves and snorkeling and Puka dogs (go there!). The other direction is Hyatt beaches with sand and lava rocks and views and hikes and it’s all connected by a great trail system.
The house was big, quiet and great for a family. No air conditioning but you only notice in the afternoon for a little bit. Just open all the windows and vents and it’s great OR be outside in the afternoon and you don’t even know.
Beds were great, plenty of beach stuff to borrow and lots of lounging areas after a long day at the beach. We loved our stay and the host and house were great. Easily recommend.

This property is in a good location with easy access to many beaches and restaurants nearby. It does however need some TLC. The master bath shower does not drain, as well as the sinks in the main bathroom. The towels definitely need an upgrade and there are not enough of them. The patio area was filthy when we arrived, we spent our first night cleaning it. Also, the backyard pictures in the listing depicts a decent grassy space, however there is very small area of grass and dirt. Overall it is very dated and needs some love.

All previous reviews are accurate. The house is as pictured. It’s charming and is true to the Hawaiian style. If you need air conditioning, you may want to reconsider this home; the house becomes extremely hot in the afternoon and early evening. After a few days, however, we didn’t miss having air conditioning! Overall, I suggest this home as it is located in lovely neighborhood close to two beaches.

Nice place to stay! Well equipped with kitchen supplies, beach towels, boogie boards, plenty of T. Paper and paper towels! Was a little warm in the late evening but cooled off nicely from about 11PM on! Close to a couple of beaches but seemed like a little longer walk than as stated. Our family of 8 fit very comfortable here with 2 younger boys sleeping on the pullout sofa. House needs a few updates but is very adequate. We enjoyed our stay here!

This was a convenient and clean rental home. The location is very good. The amenities are good. Some beach equipment is available for use. The only downside was a lack of good air flow which made it hard to cool off the house, and one of the TV or TV remotes was not working. Everything else was great.

We stayed in this home the month of March 2023 and found it to have plenty of room for our family. It is equipped very well with kitchen items and beach things. The home is older, but it suited our needs perfectly and the location is ideal.

The location is unbeatable. Easy walk to both poipu beach and shipwreck beach which are two of the best beaches in the area. The house was well stocked with supplies including soaps, trash bags, shampoo/conditioner etc. There was great airflow in the house with the lower shutters that opened.
The house was definitely dated but that was apparent in the photos. The appliances were touchy to get working correctly and the towels could use updating but otherwise we had a great time and would stay at this house again.

I definitely recommend this vacation house!
Very spacious, comfortable and clean vacation rental house for my family of 3 adults. It was the perfect "home away from home" for us during our 2 weeks on Kauai! The kitchen was well stocked with anything we needed. The living room, dining room, outside patio areas were wonderful. Bedrooms and beds were quite comfortable. Ceiling and floor fans in each room of the house.
Home was conveniently located to everything in Poipu and Koloa area.

We were a family of 4, one of whom used a wheelchair, a set of grandparents and a sister, husband and 10 year old. The house was well located and has great kitchen and bar b q for meal prep. The location is very walkable and close to great beaches as well as a great jumping off spot for visits to other parts of the island.

Great location near multiple beaches. We did some excellent scuba diving and snorkeling just down the road at Koloa Landing, and this made for an excellent base camp. The only downside is the lack of air conditioning, but we did alright without it.

Great location for our young family. Walking distance to pool, beaches and the Grand Hyatt where we were attending a conference. Quiet neighborhood with little traffic. The Owner was very accommodating and helpful to us with our stay and some specific needs that came up.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for space to spread out with a young family while visiting the island.

Forever wonderful memories
Our family loved the location because we could walk to Poipu Beach or Shipwreck, to nearby restaurants, the pool, or go for a walk/run on the trail system. The open community space was used for soccer and kickball. This property met all our needs. Excellent host, very accommodating and helpful. We all highly recommend the property.

Great location.
The location was great. The kitchen had every utensil you could need to cook fantastic meals. The house is spacious but needs a deep clean.. I was worried that the dresser in the main bedroom had mold. One shade inches hallway was molded. Kitchen cabinet is broken. IF you want to watch a movie the T.v.is on the smaller side,but adequate. I texted the manager about a broken lamp and received no reply. The island is fantastic.

Great family house!
We loved our 2.5 weeks! 10 min walk to Poipu beach, and has lots of great beach gear (wagon, chairs, umbrella etc). Great house for kids and has everything you need. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Excellent house for a family vacation!

Ideal home for a family vacation. Plenty of space, fully loaded kitchen, short walk to the pool and beach. Water toys, wagons, boogie boards and more for kids (and adults) of all ages. Great place to spend the week in paradise!

Hot but Happy!
Our house had very large rooms with lots of space for our 7 people. No air conditioning in August made it hard to sleep at night, fans helped a bit. Washer, dryer and dishwasher were nice to have. Pool was a five-minute walk, beaches further. Overall good experience.

Perfect location!
The house was spacious and accommodating . Master bedroom was perfect! The location was perfect, too: walk to the pool and beaches. Felt like it was the place to be on Kauai as the north got all the rain and we just had a few sporadic showers and great breezes every day. Only downside was pressure washers next door during construction.

Wonderful stay for two families with young kids
This house was very comfortable for two families of 4 and 3. It’s very thoughtfully stocked with what you need but not so much that it’s cluttered. Large washer and dryer with plenty of detergent, dishwasher, loads of beach towels, two wagons to pull the children to the beach or pool, many boogie boards and some beach toys, lots of fans to help us stay cool, awesome grill on the patio for meals that didn’t mess up the kitchen or heat up the house.
Great communication and lots of accommodation from our wonderful hosts - for example we thought about bringing an Au pair and she was supportive of helping us find a spot in the house.
Finally, the location just can’t be beat. We walked to the beach park and pool every day, enjoying the beautiful greenway and fragrant trees and shrubs, and walked the other day one evening to have a fancy meal at Tidepools (where the staff were very kind to our kids and even provided fish food to feed the koi).
Would 100% book again and have already recommended this house to a colleague.

Convenient location in Poipu
We rented this property for my husband, myself and our 4 young adult kids. There was plenty of room for us. The house came with all amenities. It is NOT air-conditioned. We knew about that in advance, but if you need AC you may want to look elsewhere. We did have the occasional bug, ants, geckos in the house. It's a tropical setting, so I wasn't surprised or upset by that. Grand Hyatt is a short walk and we enjoyed going there in the evenings for a cocktail. The house has a little more wear than the pictures reflect. But still a good location and good value for the trip.

Great Location and Spacious
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful Kauai property with us this past week. The house is in a perfect location, safe, quiet neighborhood and offered many extra helpful amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed the skylights and the layout of the house. I loved having the convenience of the huge washer and dryer which allowed for light packing and the boogie boards, snorkel gear and the sand toys were fun for the kids.

Lovely home, well equipped and perfect location!
This is our second time staying in this awesome house, we love it! Pros are: a) stocked with everything you need for the kitchen and beach (we purchased a pop-up from Walmart and left it there - enjoy - these work better than sun umbrellas!), b) home layout is great, three private good-sized rooms, large shared space + peaceful garden/BBQ are and well designed kitchen make this house very functional, and c) location location location!
We did have to purchase some essentials as there was no extra stock for things like coffee, sugar, toilet paper, laundry detergent. I recommend people swing by a grocery store on their first day and stock up on essentials. Even so, having such a functional house is a huge money saver!

Family Gathering
We had two families with 5 kids staying in Poipu for 10 days. This house had everything we needed to comfortably enjoy our time in Kauai. It was within walking distance to two nice beaches and had easy access to the rest of the island. The owner was very helpful in getting us set up and settled and did a great job communicating with us. In addition to having everything we needed to cook and grill at home, there were beach towels, beach chairs, coolers, and boogie boards that made heading out easy. We would happily stay here again.

Family Vacation
We had a great family vacation! We traveled with 6 adults and 2 babies (18 and 16 months). The house and yard was perfect for children and toddlers. The beach and pool were walking distance and 2 other beaches just a 5 minute drive. The only reason I gave it 4 stars because there is no air conditioning, but there are ceiling fans and floor fans in every room. The owners were very easy and accessible. I felt we were lucky with great weather, this side is the sunny side so we were able to go to the beach every day.

We enjoyed our stay at the house very much - short walk to Poipu beach and short drive to grocery stores and other shops. The layout of the house is good and the great room makes it feel very roomy. The temperature inside the house stays in the comfortable range this time of the year. Overall, a great house to stay in Poipu.
