Wow, great studio !!

My stay was incredible at Dowlais, the studio was perfect so clean and decoration is great. Bed is super comfy and everything you need is in the studio for you. Great location, fantastic messages and info from the hosts. Would recommend the studio to everyone will definitely return !!!

James’ places is excellent!

Studio was brilliant, super clean and had everything I needed. Great area and lots of restaurants to choose from which the hosts suggested in their email which I would recommend to read as has some great options. Overall an amazing trip and would suggest the studios to anyone visiting Merthyr Tydfil especially is looking to visit the Brecon Beacons, great location for it.

Loved the studio at Dowlais

The studio at James Places is amazing I am so happy with everything from start to finish. All communication with James and Angela was brilliant and they are so friendly. I couldn’t have asked for anything more from the studio it was perfect and had everything I needed. All clean and tidy and such a fab location for exploring. I hope to be back soon

Brilliant studio for my stay

The studio was amazing, I had the best stay. Everything was top standard and the studio was very clean. Comfy bed and great facilities in the studio, the area is great for exploring the area would definitely recommend. Every email from the hosts had lots of information and they are very helpful.

wonderful stay - so relaxing and comfortable and great for a short weekend away.!

the property is in a great location - we were able to get into town quickly and the train to Cardiff is so easy to use. the owners were incredibly helpful before we arrive and gave us some great recommendations for things to do/see & places to eat. their instructions for entering the property were also clear and there is a free car park behind the property.

our one criticism is that there weren’t enough kitchen utensils - things like cutting knives, scissors etc. it isn’t a deal breaker but we intended to cook in the kitchen facilities a number of times and these other utensils were much needed!

Excellent stay in the Brecon Beacons

The studio flat was very clean ,matched the description on the website and the whole place was very nicely and uniquely decorated. The email communications received from the owners prior to our visit was fabulous. About 10 days before arrival they provided a very detailed list full of recommendations for places to visit and places to eat along with a nice sightseeing driving route through the Brecon Beacons. We followed a lot of the recommendations and this saved us a lot of time in having to put in our own research beforehand. The owners responded very quickly as well when 1 of the lightbulbs needed replacing and did so instantly. The flat was very conveniently located to the Brecon Beacons and everything was within easy driving distance and we would definitely recommend staying here.

The only minus we can possibly think of was that the shower unit was quite small, but we managed OK with this though. It might have only been the case for our room as we were staying on the top floor.

Cosy stay in a lovely themed room and some bonus welsh cakes

Room 2 was cosy and nice decor. Affordable stay close to the hikes we were doing.

Room 2 is ground level and a little hidden behind the stairs. Loud fan sound in the room. On our stay we had noisy neighbours all evening in room 3 above , loud music and constant walking around in heels! Perhaps guests were not aware about others staying and could be warned in future.

Clean and comfortable with excellent facilities, in a great location.

The facilities were excellent, the room and entire building were clean and very well kept, the instructions for gaining entry were detailed and clear, and the staff we met were very friendly. The building was nice and quiet most of the time, which was a great plus, as was having a shop a and number of takeaway places so close by.

Great base for exploring South Wales.

Great location as a base. Good free parking, Good local amenities.

Room might benefit with a slightly larger mattress to fit the large scaffolding styled bed frame.

Great hosts, but place could do with some touch ups.

First off, the hosts were excellent. Nice Welsh cakes waiting for us and the recommendations were all superb. We did the park run they recommended, went to the cafe in breacon they recommended and the Italian in Merthyr. All fantastic. So thanks so much to the hosts for that.

The property was one of the cheaper places to stay so I think that should be taken into account but it was a little run down with possible excessive decor to cover things. Due to the lack of ventilation it did have a damp smell on entry and it was very dark. The shower also was not the best. For the price it was ok and as I said the hosts were really fantastic, but it could do with a touch up.

Room is described as having a mountain view .... It only has a view of the pub next doors beer garden .not a big deal but description needs to be altered

Good studio with parking

The studio is a good size and has a good bathroom and kitchen with everything you need. It is in a convenient location for bike park Wales. There is a large public car park at the rear which was very handy. James the owner is very responsive and came out almost immediately when we had an issue with the electric at 9:30pm on a Sun night, which was quickly fixed. He also sent us lots of info pre-arrival which was very useful.

We selected our studio as it was advertised as having a Mountain View. This was not the case, the view was a wall, pub garden, garage and beyond if you looked closely a hill. I feel that the “Mountain View” label should be removed so guests aren’t misled. We also felt the studio needs at least one small lamp as the only light is the main one on the ceiling which is super bright.

Superb

The hosts are very attentive and provided detailed information about the area, Brecon Beacons and where to visit and eat. The location is convenient with all the shops and restaurants on the street and is at the doorstep of Brecon and Beacons. The homemade Welsh cakes provided are delicious. The accommodation is good value.

The shower is quite compact with little room to move and I am a small person (weigh less than 50 kg). But it's a studio with a lot packed in a small space.

Recommended 👍🏾💯 - Although no one met us, but the host answered the phone straight away. Once the booking was confirmed, we were given lots of advice where to go, what to see etc. Property - quirky, comfortable and clean with all we needed for a short break. Would also suit a couple with a child or 2. Location - as its on a High Street, theres a small shop and takeaways on the road but not noisy at all. As its on the outskirt of Brecon, its not far from some of the amazing waterfalls, despite the weather.
