Center town with a communal kitchen

The staff is very nice. The colors and gardens/flowers were beautiful. It is practical to have a kitchen. This is one of the rare affordable hotels that is in the center: go by foot to restaurants, cinema, supermarket, ... too many properties are 2-4km away, which is not as practical as Lago.

Our bedroom and its shower room were excessively small and the plugs to charge electronics were behind the bed, not practical at all, very cramped. The breakfast is minimal: hard-boiled egg, fruit, bread with butter & jam.

L’accueil en général. Les heures d’ouverture sont trop rigides. L’établissement ferme à 21h. Nous avions un retard de vol hors de notre contrôle. Aussi, les chambres sont beaucoup plus petites que décrites sur le site.

Helpful and friendly staff, great location, clean and comfortable accommodations!

The garden was so beautiful and had so many great smelling flowers! There was a cute little cat that wandered around and was so friendly! The room was so comfortable and the location of the hostel was very convenient to walking into town.

Un lugar atendido con mucha dedicación

La atención de este hostel es una de las mejores que he recibido viajando, realmente lo recomiendo. El gato de las fotos es real. El espacio es muy bonito, en cada esquina del hostel se siente la atención al detalle. La ubicación es muy buena, en minutos estás en el centro de Calafate.

A pleasant stay!

Very helpful and friendly staff, good value for money and they let us store our big bags when we went to El Chalten

Lago Argentino Hostal....Excellent

I liked so many things about Lago Argentino.The location was excellent-a short walk to the centre.Sleep quality was top class and the room was clean and serviced daily.What I liked the most was the host Eugenio.This lovely man,as soon as I arrived,organised a trip to the Perito Moreno glacier,a trip to El Chaltén and the return trip to the airport...Truly one of the nicest people I've met in all my travels....Stay at Lago Argentino Hostal....Top marks to Eugenio and Paloma....10 out of 10.

great value, comfortable stay

it is a cute property that is a nice place to rest your head for the night. the staff and service are amazing. beds were firm which is great. there is a bakery/panaderia next door!

the rooms are a bit old and there’s carpeting, but it’s clean. the water was finicky but I think that’s normal for the town.

This place is top class.Many thanks to Eugenio for all his help-this lovely man booked my trip to Perito Moreno,the trip to El Chaltén and the shuttle bus back to the airport...The room was clean,comfortable and great value.Sleep quality was excellent.Eugenio and Paloma are super friendly and helpful.Top marks to Lago Argentino....10 out of 10.

reasonably priced.

Breakfast was very minimal, very little supplied, no eggs, coffee, yogurt. one tiny croissant and one piece of fruit per person. Not close to town and the walk home after dark didn’t feel very safe. private rooms located across the road with no security. anyone could come into the area.

Wonderful Owners / Not So Wonderful Facilities

The husband and wife who run Lago Argentino are wonderful and will bend over backwards to help you with anything and everything!

Our private room was so small that it was difficult to find space for our things. The bathroom was equally small and it wasn’t ventilated, so the entire bathroom got soaked whenever we used the shower. Overall, we felt like the facilities weren’t in line with the price.

Eugene and his wife were the most gracious hosts, very helpful with the Argentinan money process so we were prepared when we arrived. They also suggested tours!!

The place to stay in El Calafate

Rooms were colourful and quirky in a beautiful garden. Really close to the main drag so perfect location. Eugene was incredibly helpful and gave us lots of useful info that helped with our whole trip!!

Very central location. Exceptionally friendly and helpful owners. Beautiful facilities, fully equipped. My overall experience was fantastic and the value for money in El Calafate is probably amongst the best.

Isolation of the doors and windows of the external rooms. Not really a problem, however in order to save on the heating this would have a big impact.

Great value in El Calafate, stayed here before and after our trip to Torres del Paine, close to centre/main road, short 5 min taxi from bus station (~$2), clean room/bathroom, heater.

Great place in central El Calafate, friendly staff and affordable rates.

Excellent value for money: rooms with private bathroom at affordable rates, something which is hard to find in El Calafate. Very friendly owner, who gives great tips for alternative excursions on and near El Calafate. The hostel is centrally located near the main street. Very clean. Breakfast included and common kitchen.
