Value for money, great location and friendly staff

Claire and staff were amazing so friendly it was our wedding anniversary and a bottle of prosecco was in our room when we arrived. This was a lovely touch and much appreciated. The breakfast was brilliant Toiletries in the room another lovely touch

Great location, friendly staff.

Staff were very good. They were friendly and helpful. Location was excellent. Room had good tea and coffee facilities. Also shower room was large and a good shower. Good selection for breakfast.

The single beds were very narrow and the mattress was uncomfortable. I could feel the springs. The stairs to the room were very steep and narrow. Good enough for a couple of nights.

Charming B&B/pub close to center of York and all the attractions

Fantastic location in a historic pub/B&B. Room was spacious and clean with a large en suite bathroom. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Delicious English breakfast.

Rooms face a busy street with a lot of other restaurants and pubs, so it can be pretty noisy with both traffic and pedestrians. With the windows closed, it was perfectly quiet, but the only way to ventilate the room was to open a window, which meant having to hear a lot of the street noise. I recommend including a fan in the room so that guests can sleep with the windows closed, but still have some breeze.

The staff were friendly

The lack of parking. The lumpy bed. Thd hard pillows. The strange noise from the toilet all night. The economy sausages and hard eggs at breakfast.

Good

Location. Easy walking to places of interest and shops. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good .

No car park. As it was facing the main road , it was a little noisy at night but settled later in night. Windows did not have curtains that kept out light well. As it's summer, the sun rises very early.

Location was great and a short walk from major attractions. Staff were friendly. Room was a decent size. Bathroom was modern and good size.

Windows were very old so loads of noise pollution throughout the night making it hard to sleep. Bed wasn’t majorly comfy.

Music/karaoke til 1am at weekends, not great. Room ok, quite pricey. Lovely staff, good bfast.

The staff were lovely, really friendly and the breakfast (included) was good. The location was great.

Unfortunately the mattresses were hard and lumpy. The karaoke on Friday night went on til 1am, we were on 1st floor and it was very loud, kept us awake. Saturday night live band until 12, also very loud. Shower alternated boiling hot or freezing cold.

Fawlty towers but with wonderful friendly staff great location great breakfast

location and friendly staff

our stay had a touch of faulty towers about it … 1st morning of stay no hot water shower wouldn’t work and burning smell when trying to get it to work..: we reported to staff at breakfast who were excellent and checked it straight away, it was broken so we had to move room which was disruptive to our first day but handled quickly and efficiently. 2nd day our last day our room door wouldn’t open so again needed to get that sorted. despite all the hiccups which were handled quickly and efficiently by staff we did still have a lovely time in York the hotel is in a great central location and breakfast was nice.

good place to lay your head if you don’t mind the spooky activity.

not much not to like: while in bed one night the bathroom door swung open and slammed into the wall with a bang making my wife and myself wake with a fright. all windows closed and nothing to explain why this would happen. spooky, also wardrobe door opened at some point during the night.

Not what I expected

The couple off staff working were very pleasant and friendly.

Came down for breakfast at 9 no one about and no table laid. Chef rushed in about 9.10 and hastily gave us a menu. I feel as the owners were away just a couple of people were left to do everything!

Great stay, would definitely recommend

Staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Room was good size, clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very nice, good quality food and cooked well. Staff checked if extra coffee or juice was wanted.

Only problem was parking. We parked in a long stay car park about 10 minutes walk away, parking was quite expensive.

Perfect location, close to tourist sites and to plenty of places to eat. Really nice people at the White Horse, couldn't have been more helpful.

Fine for us but you do need to remember that this is a pub and therefore can have a bit of noise on Friday and Saturday night.. Not excessive though

Staff helpful and welcoming location perfect for us. Its not a 5 star hotel it is what it says a pub with accommodation. Breakfast menu very good.

Fantastic spot

The staff and Owners were very nice and accommodating. The location was great. The room was just what we needed. Very comfortable.

Was a bit noisy one morning as the city was Jack hammering right out front because of a hole in the road .

This place is right next to all the shops ,restaurants and bars,easy walking distance,Scott who runs it will do anything for you,very helpful.Beakfasts were spot on.

They only do meals on certain days.

Fantastic room and excellent staff 👏

The staff were amazing, so friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was spot on. Perfect location. Will definitely visit again.

Road was noisy at night with windows open but its on a busy street so no fault of the pub!! A fan would be useful though to have as an option on warm nights 🙂.

Great location for a short stay, clean pub/rooms, friendly staff

Great location, only a short walk to all the main shops, pubs, bars etc. Just a 10/15 walk from the train station. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Cracking breakfast. It’s a nice pub to start your day in too.

The odd noise from the water pipes.
