About this house rental

As its name and address would suggest, Pine Haven is tucked away in a quiet stand of pines on the eastern shore of Smith Mountain Lake and is awaiting your arrival! This custom lakefront home completed in 2017 still feels and looks like new and would be a candidate for anyone’s “A” list of top vacation destinations.

This spacious home boasts four beautifully furnished and well-appointed bedrooms, three and a half baths, a vaulted ceiling great room with stone fireplace and Sony flat screen TV, lighted curio cabinets, hickory flooring and knotty alder doors, premium granite top kitchen with the finest JennAir appliances, separate dining and breakfast areas overlooking the lake, and a walk-out gathering room with brand new sectional sofa, Sony 4K TV and kitchenette.

Whew! Take a breath and read on. There is a composite deck (no nails or splinters!) with retractable awning, an inground salt water pool (summer uae only), large paver patio, eight person hot tub, stone fire pit with composite Adirondack chairs, a gas Weber grill on the deck, Sonos surround sound throughout the living and outdoor areas, and a covered deep water dock to serve as a launch pad for all your water activities. There is ample paved parking for multiple vehicles and even a back-up whole house generator in the unlikely event power is lost during your stay. Internet and cable TV are included at no added cost.

Pine Haven is located in a quiet cove behind one of our favorite lakeside stops, Mitchell’s Point Marina where, in the warmer months you can rent the watercraft or water toys of your choice, enjoy mouth watering outdoor dining and live music at Mitchell’s Restaurant and Pizzeria, and cheat on your diet at the home dipped ice cream hut out front. The view from the home and dock is mostly of the large surrounding cove and community but, if you look above the tree tops, you’ll also catch the peak of the lake’s namesake, Smith Mountain.

If you’re new to Smith Mountain Lake, you’ll be swept away by the quality of life here. SML, as its known locally, is considered one of the top 10 fresh water lakes in the country and offers limitless boating and water based recreational activities. There are nearly two dozen marinas, a dozen lakeside restaurants, and enough open water to accommodate everything from slalom skiers to poker runs and professional fishing tournaments. Did we mention that it has 500 miles of shoreline?

The water is clean and weed-free and bugs are practically non-existent. Mosquitoes are on the endangered species list (not really, but you get the point.)

Pine Haven is the perfect destination for your family getaway or corporate retreat. But be forewarned – leaving it at the end of your stay may be harder than you think!

Had a wonderful family vacation at Smith Mountain Lake. The lake house was awesome. The house had everything available that we needed. We swam in the pool, relaxed in the hot tub, went kayaking and rented a boat to explore the lake and go tubing. We also went fishing. The boat rental was very convenient as the marina was just across the cove from the house. The house was absolutely beautiful and the host promptly answered all of our questions. 5 stars out of 5

You can’t beat the view with a large tranquil cove off SML and that gorgeous salt water pool. Coffee on the upper deck in the morning was awesome. Our family had a nice time and made many happy memories.

This home is absolutely magnificent. It is right on the waterfront with a beautiful private dock equipped with two double seater kayaks and plenty of life preservers. We were able to fish and swim off of the dock. Fish were caught to the kids delight. The water is very clean. It also includes and salt water pool and a large hot tub that we all enjoyed, Our last night we set up a glow stick pool party with a fire. S'mores were of course the main attraction. During the week there was hiking with observing the many deer residents that seemed comfortable with our presence. A dinner out with karaoke, putt-putt, bungee jumping and delicious adult beverages. The kitchen is set up for entertaining. There is enough room in the home to also seek solitude if need be. We are excited to make more heart felt memories soon at this location. Dennis and MaryAnn were definitely a big plus to work with, They responded quickly to any questions that popped up.

This property was the perfect spot for our family to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary. We had the opportunity to get everyone together and celebrate together. The property had an amazing view of the lake, a great spot to swim and the kids loved the pool. The owners were extremely accommodating and helped us when we had questions and needed recommendations. This property is perfect for a nice getaway on a beautiful lake. Visiting this lake was a first for all of us. You cannot go wrong with this property!

We stayed at this gorgeous lake home during our daughter’s graduation from Liberty. It was a gift of beauty and rest as we gathered with the grandparents and our other children, adult and young. Our younger caught 5 fish before we even unloaded the van. The pool and jacuzzi were a delight which we enjoyed at every available moment. The house was so clean that I didn’t feel like I had to wash everything upon returning home, which is a first for me! It was definitely worth the drive back and forth to campus in order to have such a place to gather. We would definitely return in two years when our son is scheduled to graduate. I highly recommend this gem!

We had been wanting to visit SML and came across this beautiful home that was available. We would 100% stay here again - the house and lake were beautiful. The hosts, Dennis and Mary Ann, were easy to contact and prompt in responding. We did have a few hiccups during our stay, just some information that would have been helpful to know before going here. Just FYI - we did not contact the hosts about these issues because they were minimal and it wasn't necessary during our stay, there wasn't much they could do and we were able to take care of this. There is a cleaning fee, which is fine but there were some things that were not clean. I went to use the air fryer and it hadn't been previously clean. There was also green mold on one of the plates, and my daughter found a dirty, fake nail on the ground, (it was bright yellow, so I'm not sure how you would miss that when cleaning). There was also a stuffed animal and a t-shirt that didn't belong to any of us in one of the beds. Minimal necessities are provided. The hand soap in the half bathroom and kitchen were almost out when we arrived, there was only one back up roll of paper towels, 2 dishwasher pods, 2 garbage bags, and one toilet paper roll, (one bathroom didn't have any). When you're paying quite a bit per night, I would assume we wouldn't be afraid to run out of these things. We ended up going to the store and buying the backups that were needed. I would recommend this lake house but would bring the necessary items.

My family stayed here for a week, 6 adults and 6 kids ages 1-7. The bedroom setup was perfect, our infant slept in the upstairs 2nd bedroom and was never disturbed by noise in the living room or kitchen due to high quality doors that kept noise level down. The back porch with awning was an oasis for any time of day, such a spectacular view! The neighborhood is super quiet and peaceful, with deer to spot all over. The pool was a perfect temperature and was especially fun with the baja shelf. The littlest kids could play on there as a "shallow end" but even the adults would enjoy sitting on it for a cool down without swimming. The dock was huge and a fun place to jump off to swim, and also a big hit with the kids to fish from. We rented a pontoon boat for 2 days, which was super fun. There are 2 double kayaks available for use at the dock and we all took rides in those. There's a marina just across the cove where we ate ice cream and bought nightcrawlers for bait. The layout of the house was very accommodating, open and safe for kids. The stairs do not have a gate, so if you need that for an infant just bring one of your own. Can not speak more highly of this property. We wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home!

Words cannot express the amazing time we had the past 2 weeks. The home was just perfect for our family gathering as we were able to celebrate my late parents Birthdays, could not have been better. We had lots of time on rented boat, the kayaks & swimming. The pool was a great opportunity for kids to swim while adults hung out on patio. Dennis & Mary Ann were exceptional hosts & attended to the little requests that came up. We can’t wait to return.

Despite the rainy week, this home and amenities was just perfect for our family vacation. House is gorgeous, so much room and well maintained. Beautiful pool (came in handy when it didn't rain or was a light rain as well as the hot tub. We rented a boat and this home has the perfect side to their dock that can be used for guests. Beautiful location in Huddleston not far from the State Park. Owners were amazing. Very gracious and always communicated. Highly recommend this property and the owners!!

Beautiful, comfortable home with all the amenities. Kids loved fishing off the dock and playing in the pool all day. Deck over looking the lake was a wonderful place to relax at all times of the day. We rented a boat from Mitchell’s marina which was a 2 minute drive from the house and just across the cove on the lake. And the owners were great and responsive to all questions.

The home is beautiful and well appointed. We felt the warmth and love of every detail that went into the overall design from the floorplan, to the decor, to the landscape and more. The only negative is that you have to take your own trash to the dump, but fortunately it was not out of the way. We would definitely choose this property again!

When we found a rental with a pool overlooking the lake we couldn’t believe it and booked it immediately. This home is incredible. The location on the lake is perfect, (there is a great lakefront restaurant a 5 min boat ride away) the home is well furnished and cozy, and the outdoor space is spacious and beautiful. After one day we started looking at dates for the next time we could return. Dennis was very communicative and helpful. We highly recommend!
