About this house rental

Beautiful, private 5 bedroom home (sleeps 15) on more than one acre of land is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the DC/Richmond Metro areas, even for a short weekend.

On warm days, float in the brand new private in-ground pool while you listen and watch Taskmaker Creek and the amazing diversity of wildlife (including the occasional bald eagle) pass by. Or take the water toys (paddle boards, kayaks, canoe) from the garage and float on The Creek and/or The Bay, launching from the private sandy beach on the property. For those who want to have fun on land, the home has spike ball, croquet, badmitton, and corn hole. On nice evenings year round, end the day sipping cocktails at the end of the dock, with beautiful water and wildlife views, and the most incredible Bay and Creek sunsets.

For cooler evenings year-round, gather around the outdoor gas fire pit with views of The Bay and Creek, or build a fire on the sandy beach and sit by The Creek. During the day, take long walks on the quiet lanes and roads in the area. In the winter months, enjoy the indoor gas fireplace as you make dinner with family, and enjoy the sunset from the windows and sliding doors, and create new memories.

No matter the time of year, start your mornings with coffee/tea, watching the beautiful sunrise over The Bay, and end your evenings with your beverage of choice at the en of the dock to witness the most spectacular sunsets Creek-side.

For the fisherman among you, your boat can easily be parked in our large driveway, or stored in our large HVAC'd, three-stall garage. The boat launch is just a mile away, in Fleeton. For the shoppers and antiquers among you, the home is within 3 miles to Reedville Center and restaurants including Fleeton Point Seafood, Cockrell's Seafood Deli, Reedville Market, Crazy Crab, and Chitterchats ice cream. And just a thirty minute drive away is the larger town of Kilmarnock, and the beautiful town of Irvington.

Inside the spacious home, filled with brand new furnishings, you will find 5 large bedrooms, large kitchen, and multiple living spaces (on main and upper floor) to accommodate the whole group. Large dining room allows for the whole family to enjoy meals together while watching The Bay flow by. Fully stocked kitchen provides all the equipment you will need, including diswasher. Enjoy time relaxing in our favorite spot on the screen-in porch while listening to the waves. This home has multiple private and public areas, making it ideal to have family time, and private time, as needed.

Home has 5G 1000mbps wifi and three desks to easily accommodate remote work and streaming.

As owners, living in the DC Metro area, our favorite aspect of the home is that within 2.5 hours drive of DC, and 1.5 hours from Richmond, giving us the opportunity to truly get away from it all - even just for a quick weekend. Listening to the sound of the waves, the birds, and NO TRAFFIC provides the reset that hectic city life demands. We hope you enjoy this home as much as we do.

If you are looking for a spacious, well laid out house in a remote location, this is the place to be. The interior is tastefully decorated and true to the pictures. The screened in porch is priceless, it's where we spent the majority of our time with beautiful views of the creek without being eaten alive by mosquitoes. The pool, although very chilly, was nicely designed with the built in lounge area. The first step into the pool is a little tricky though and a handrail would be a great addition for safety!!! A couple of chairs in addition to the chaise lounges would be nice at the pool, especially for elderly people for whom the chaises are too low. There were plenty of dishes, towels, toys and games. The firepit was a cozy place to enjoy in the evenings. We would have loved to make smores there but understand it wasn't allowed due to the potential mess. I gave cleanliness 4 stars due to the fact that it seemed like the microwave and freezer drawer had not been cleaned (I'm sure just a one-time oversight), the carpet in the living room had several spots, and the cushions on the furniture in the screened in porch need to be cleaned (probably since we came at the end of the season). My husband's only suggestion is to stock the creek with a few more fish. LOL. He only caught 1 fish and 2 crabs off the dock (which were released back into the water). Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us and we can't wait to return next year.

Without a doubt, everything our family needed before a busy Fall season. Relaxing on the water, enjoying the pool, lounging in the screened porch, talking around the peaceful firepit in the evening, just the recharge our family was looking for. Being from the DC area, we purposely booked somewhere that was remote, and this beautiful setting did not disappoint. When we left, we forgot a laptop. The owners kindly called us so we could go back and collect it. They were extremely hospitable and communicative from the day of our booking until the last. We will definitely be back! Thank you so very much!

We really enjoyed our stay! This is the week we use each year for “true” downtime with no hustle & bustle and lots of R&R. We definitely got that! The pool was a great addition since we had some bad weather and getting out on the water wasn’t easy most of the week. It is a remote location so, if you want to be near a lot of shopping malls & chain restaurants, this is not the spot for you. It was exactly what we were looking for…quiet location with local Mom & Pop shops and restaurants. We’d definitely consider staying again.

Our visit in Reedville was extremely relaxing. Sitting on the dock in the mornings & evenings was just beautiful. We all agreed it was the best merged into one, the view of ocean but the nice calm waters of a lake. The house is very nicely sized. We had 3 family’s and there was more than enough room for all of us. The kitchen has everything needed. Personally I liked sharp knives and nice pans to cook with. Having access to paddle boards, canoe and kayaks made it easy to not worry about brining those items. We did need to contact the owners and they were extremely attentive. If you need to check out of the normal hustle and bustle, Reedviile is the place. Just a note many restaurants were not open the full week. We had a nice dinner at Sandpiper Restaurant. Bay Quest Charters provided us with a beautiful sunset cruise.

We all enjoyed our stay for the week. The house was amazing inside and out. Everyone loved the pool, screened in porch, and firepit. We were a little disappointed that the creek wasn't great fishing and even kayaking far out into the bay didn't change that as it was still relatively shallow water. However we were able to catch the occasional skate off the dock and an abundance of crab.
