The location was perfect for my trip, the area is full of life and close to public transportation, bars, cafes, and restaurants. Also, the room was spotless! But the game changer for me was the attention at the Front Desk. Marisa was superb, kind, and very attentive, and also Andy, with whom I interacted less due to their shift hours -both always with a smile and willing to help or recommend places to explore. You don't get that much kindness in every hotel in a big city! The view from the 7th-floor terrace is gorgeous, very instagrammable!
I'm a big guy so the room was a bit small for me but I know that in New York, a larger room would have cost me a fortune. In any case, I did not use the room other than sleeping so it was all good.

The bed was so comfortable.
People working there was so friendly.
The temperature in the room was great (February)
The room was not so clean, there was a little bit of dust.

they were out of coffee our entire visit

great location, lots of amazing restaurants and bars, half the price of main hub of NY. good metro connections.
basic, rooms were small, so you just have to be tidy,
asked for cups or glasses for drinks but nothing, had to go buy some…
…. but we stayed for NY not a hotel room

The lobby is nice. It was easy to navigate. It is walking distance to a lot of attractions and public transit. It felt safe. the decor in the room was alright.
I was up until 4:30am from the noise and lack of hot water. The sink worked fine, but the shower was icy even after leaving it running for a long time. The hotel is located on a street with a few clubs, and the windows do nothing for sound. You can also hear tenants across the hall when they go in and out. My bed did not have any pillowcases on the pillows??

The room was fine for what we needed - mainly a place to sleep.
We did appreciate being able to leave our bags in the basement after we checked out - thank you.
The bedside lamps didn't work. The air conditioning and shower vents need a really good clean. There is a bar right next door so it was very loud until about 2am. The door to our room didn't completely close and the rooftop terrace was closed.

The staff were great, the room was a bit small but clean. Easy to open the window and the view on NYC roofs was friendly with neighbor! The washroom with Italian shower was very nice and looked new. Only 2 rooms at that floor so it was very quiet. Lively snack'n chat street after bars hours!
The streets were closed to cars at night so it can be tricky to get your luggage to the lobby and to park your car, even in the full parking lots around, but I had space because of a plug-in car😉👍. Hopefully too, I got help from Angel, the sweetest receptionnist who managed to send young men residents there to carry all my "birthdays gifts" stuff! Thanks again, Angel!!! The Roof terrasse was supposed to be closed at night (too many abused) but my special request has been accepted to share a cake and digestive with friends there. Though, the bright white spot lights were blinding us as it's set to show the wall of the hotel instead of creating a cozy atmosphere ... Oh! And the corridors floors were on rough concrete and very, very, very dusty. Let's hope it is to be renovated soon!

The location was great and the hotel was pretty updated. We weren’t bothered too much during our stay which was nice.
The rooms are EXTREMELY small and look a lot smaller than advertised. the cleanliness is also lacking a bit.

the front desk was amazing

The beds were very comfortable and the location is convenient, if you want access to bars, nightlife, and the subway (but every part of Manhattan is easily connected by public transportation, so this doesn’t say much). It was sort of fine, overall.
I have to agree with the other review that called it a “glorified hostel”. The rooms and hallways are a bit run down (think peeling wallpaper and chipped paint; random holes in the walls from old fixtures, a dirty elevator rug). There is no hospitality to speak of - the basement coffee room is hardly inviting, and half of the desk staff were unhelpful, unengaged, misinformed about hotel policies, or busy doing something else while attending the desk. The location was atrocious, as someone who likes to get good sleep - people were loudly partying until 3am *every night of the week*, except for Tuesday. I hardly slept and woke up exhausted every morning. The room has zero amenities that you might expect from a hotel (no safe to store things, for instance, no closet to hang things). My room was musty and the air was thick with a kind of mild, but perceptible, mold scent. I get the feeling that you can’t expect much more from hotels in New York, unless you are prepared to spend beaucoup money, but nonetheless, it was depressing, I might have left if I hadn’t paid in advance, and I was wishing I had been willing to shell out a bit more per night for something better (but again, I don’t think it would have helped much).

Bed was comfortable
Room was clean
The staff was friendly
The room features were worn out and the wifi was not delivering any decent connection.
You can barely see through the window as the glass has been cleaned a century ago.
Rooms are very small.
Value for money not satisfying.

The hotel was fine, it was exactly what I expected all I cared was that it was clean and central. The only reason I can’t rate it well is security, my card to my door kept getting demagnetized and they wouldn’t even ask for my ID (and they never saw me before) and would just ask me my room number and give it to me. That’s incredibly unsafe and could lead to people getting their stuff stolen EASILY.

Room cleaners were friendly. So were overnight staff.
When I arrived to drop off bags. Receptionist was off sick without backup.
Weird bleach smell in room, and generally stuff.
There should be a tag to put on door handle so cleaning staff don't come in every day. There was a day when there wasn't extra toilet paper.
AC wasn't working great.
Morning I was leaving, receptionist was unfriendly.

The staff was pretty friendly, especially the concierge who greeted me when I got to the hotel. I enjoyed the location, the walkability to different bars and restaurants, and the outdoor terrace area.
I'm pretty disappointed in the lack of amenities available at this hotel for the price that I paid. The concierge told me there would be two water bottles waiting for me in the room, but when I got to the room there was none there. He apologized, said they must be out of water, but that I could use the water fountain on the basement level. As someone who has worked in hospitality for the last 9 years, this is unacceptable. Hotels should always be stocked and able to accommodate their guests.
My room also was not cleaned the second day that I was there, and I had run out of towels, so that added another level of frustration, especially coming back from a long day of work sweaty and tired. Please do better, Redford.
