The beds were cozy. Beautiful home and pool. The owner was very friendly and communication was great if we needed anything. We may make this our spring break tradition.

We stayed at this house with some friends for a long weekend. We were all seniors ( 60-90). The house was big and rambling. There were so many interesting things to see in the home. It had everything we needed in the kitchen. The outdoor area was huge and private. Great house and good central location.

Beautiful property, we were in LA to attend the Breeders Cup Races.and stayed 3 nights and 4 days. The spanish villa is truly hidden away right there in Whitter! So much to love about the house, the outside grounds, the pool, the hot tub and the secluded area. Luisa helped answer all our questions, after 4 days we felt so comfortable, didn't want to leave. When we're back in Los Angelas we will definitely be back.

The place is romantic as well as comfortable.The pool and jacuzzi were great.The host very responsive and friendly.Distance to filmstudios and amusementparks ideal (ca 35 min).

We’ve stayed at the property twice now. It’s a great spot to hang out and catch up with friends. The pool & hot tub are very relaxing & refreshing. The grounds are in excellent condition. We love that we can park our (3-4) cars in the driveway. We look forward to our next trip.

My family and I stayed here for six nights over spring break. Overall, we had a great experience and enjoyed the house very much. There's plenty of space indoors (my two boys each got their own bedroom) and out. The outdoor area is especially lovely, with a great hot tub, beautiful pool which we had heated for half our stay (extra cost but worth it to us), and well-maintained foliage, including palm and fruit trees. The owner, Luisa, was very responsive and helpful. All that said, this house might not be for everyone. The decor and furnishings are old-school, which could be regarded as either charming or "dated", depending on your perspective and personal taste. If you squint, the interior is a little rough around the edges due to its age -- which didn't bother us, but could bother some people. Also, if your vacation plan is to stay in and cook your own meals, you might want to find a place that has a more fully stocked kitchen -- this one is fine for basic food preparation, but nothing elaborate. Our only other quibble was that, as far as we could tell, you couldn't open any of the windows, which wasn't ideal for sleeping. We turned on the AC even though low temperatures outside were in the 50s. Anyway, the positives greatly outweigh the little negatives. We really like the Spanish Home in the Secret Garden.

Very large and quirky older house which is kept very clean. I'm from New England and the place reminds me of those big old vacation homes you might rent for a week on Cape Cod or in Maine. There is a history here and if you like that in a vacation home, this is for you. We stayed during historic cold temperatures in the LA area, and the house was very comfortable. Also note that the house will be very difficult for anyone in a wheelchair or a walker as there are many small steps.

Lots of room, but no place to congregate/eat together if you have a lot of people at the house as we did. It would be helpful to have plastic dishes and cups for the pool and for kids. House is outdated, a bit musty smelling, but in good working order overall. My older daughters and their spouses reported that their beds weren’t very comfortable. Mine was great. It was in the bedroom with the two single beds. It’s about 30 minutes without traffic to Burbank airport, and same to Disneyland. Owner was great and very responsive.

We were in town for the Rose Float Parade so a little farther out than we thought we'd be, but the home and grounds are charming. There was an inaccuracy in the description -- claimed to have EV charging, and it most definitely did not. This caused some disruption to our stay that we hadn't planned for. Never could get the TV Spectrum service to work for local channels, but we did have Netflix, Hulu, etc. A larger couch, sectional or something would be nice in the living room. Was not functional for hanging out and playing games or watching TV - not enough seating, and we only had four people. Would go back, however, because it was funky and cute and the grounds are amazing. Yard is entirely fenced with a security gate at driveway.

Clean, functional, had everything we needed to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with the family. Be sure to check out downtown restaurants!

Our stay was just perfect. The property is close to area attractions while being far enough away to relax while there. The property owner was very quick to reply to any questions asked. Upon arrival after a very long day of travel it was nice to have a welcome bottle of wine as well as a few items to start our trip off before getting a chance to get to the grocery store. Would highly recommend the property and owner to all asking. Will definitely reach out again if we come back to the west coast for vacationing.

We loved this place. So many quirky things here and all the facilities you could wish for. Luisa was very helpful if we had any questions. It was in a perfect location for us and one day we would love to come back

We were looking for a quiet centrally located property as a refuge from a busy tourist schedule. We found solace and relief from the day and hectic traffic in the hot tub and beautiful grounds. We need a kitchen because of food allergies and Luisa brought us items to make cooking easier. The house is almost 100 years old with large rooms. Luisa eclectically decorated the house making an interesting and yet elegant statement. Early risers are able to stir around without disturbing the sleepers.

The experience was great and Luisa was very responsive and a delight! The beds were ultra comfortable. I only have wonderful things to say about our experience!

This property is amazing! Fresh fruit trees, beautiful grounds, and the pool was spectacular! All of the pictures of the house are accurate. As other reviewers have said it’s like a step back in time, the decor is funky and unique, we loved it. Family of 5 and tons of space. Tucked into a neighborhood so there’s not complete privacy, but the backyard is like a sanctuary.

Very safe and well maintained property! My family stayed a week and loved every minute. Owner was extremely helpful and responded very promptly to any questions we had.

Our family of all ages spent a week at this beautiful home and enjoyed every minute of it! The outside is definitely a private little oasis. Pool, hot tub and fruit trees were a real hit! Inside was bigger than expected with comfortable beds. Would definitely recommend to anyone! Neighbors dog barked quite a bit, but this is expected in any city! 5 stars!

We had a wonderful stay at this property! Host was very responsive and attentive, making sure our needs were met. The pool and hot tub were a hit with our kids, and with all of the lights on in the evening, the yard looked absolutely magical! Thanks for a great stay!!

This is truly a gorgeous house and for my family’s price range, we couldn’t have found a better place to stay! The only issue we ran into in the first week was that the fridge temperature was not cool when we arrived (like it had been newly plugged back in), and halfway through our trip, we noticed the bottom freezer unit was dripping despite being closed all the way. Many of our groceries spoiled because they couldn’t be frozen. We alerted the host but she said someone could not make it to the property during our stay and asked us to use a smaller fridge in another building of the property. This made cooking a bit inconvenient and the freezer drip a safety hazard when walking through the kitchen. Other than that issue, we really enjoyed the premises!

Growing up in Whittier, we were familiar with the area and some of the history of the older houses around. This house was like stepping back in to a simpler time, yet had all the modern day amentities. We could not have picked a better place to stay for our family of 8. Everything you needed was there, the pool and backyard made you feel as though you had your own resort! Luisa was so easy to deal with and really communicated well and was responsive. We didn't want to leave! In the future, we will be back for sure if we get the opportunity. We grilled, swam, went to Disney, Universal and had enough time to relax and really enjoy all this house has to offer. What an amazing stay! We really don't have anything bad to say about it. It is clear that great care goes into maintaining this house and property.

I can’t recommend this listing enough if you have children. It was so spacious and the pool/hot tub were a great plus. Very clean and easy process. Will definitely stay here again if available the next time I’m in SoCal.

We really enjoyed the property. The grounds are very spacious and clean. It’s a great place to spend time with friends (&/or family). The pool and hot tub were both very nice. It was definitely worth the extra fee to heat the pool.

A step back in time and yet with 4 teenaged boys in our group (aged 15 - 19), they were forced to unplug and sit with us by the pool, play foosball outside and play cards during our crazy evenings after day trips around LA/Hollywood/Universal Studios (within comfortable driving distance). There were restaurants and breweries close for the parents to visit in the evenings as well, so all were happy. Luisa is a gem and should we return, we would happily visit again. She answered questions promptly. We were here for 3 days/nights but could have stayed longer had we not had a flight to catch...

This property had plenty of space and amenities for our family of 6. We had access to a washer and dryer, plenty of beds to sleep in, a jacuzzi tub, k-cups provided and the owner even left a bottle of wine as a small welcome gift! The owner had excellent communication and made every expectation known to us up front. Check in was a breeze! We only had one minor problem with the microwave not opening and she made sure to text right away and someone came to look at the latch. It was totally a small thing but they handled it very well! The backyard is a little haven and is like a step into a different world. It’s gorgeous with elegant Spanish details throughout. I loved the features of the home and discovering all the beauty in the architecture. This place is definitely a gorgeous place for a family hoping to relax in Cali on vacation!

Had a wonderful stay at this unique home. My kids loved the pool and the playground on the property. The outdoor firepit was great to use because the evenings were really cold. The lime, lemon, and avocado trees were a beautiful touch to the landscape.

We were in town for funeral services for my parents. The house allowed us to relax and enjoy each other’s company and the backyard and pool were our absolute favorite!

A quiet location for a nice relaxing week. Felt secluded in the center of a large city. Easy access to freeway in the middle of activities from amusement parks, shopping and restaurants. House had everything you'd need from fully equipped kitchen, places to relax and unwind inside and outside, laundry room and of course the pool and hot tub. Kids had a blast and adults got to relax. Great place to stay and would recommend it to anyone who looking to take it easy. Had to reach out to the owner once and got a prompt response. The property was exactly as described in the description and pervious reviews.

Our VRBO host was amazing and provided easy to follow check in procedures. My wife and I stayed 10 days over two weekends and loved our stay. The Spanish Secret Garden was quiet, spacious, and very secure with the gated entry. The location was a perfect halfway point for family we had not spent time with since the pandemic. We traveled effortlessly to amusement parks, San Pedro (fresh seafood), and other short day trips. We cooked everyday in the kitchen and we loved the modern refrigerator (lots of space). We barbecued with family four separate days and the kids had a blast! We did our grocery shopping a few miles away and saved $$ cooking meals at home. The modern laundry room (washer & dryer) allowed us to wash our clothes and towels. We want to thank our host, Luisa for everything she did to make our stay ❤ excellent. We will book again soon!
