We loved staying in Kailua, and the nice yard on the canal was a nice setting with mountains in the background (though there is a somewhat busy street close enough that you do hear car traffic also). The property is clean and had pretty much everything we needed. We also loved the spaciousness, and the easy access to Kailua town and the beach. Cons: 1) glad I looked at the VRBO access code (owners one was wrong), otherwise would've been locked out, 2) electricity is a bit tricky (e.g. some lights are hard to figure out how to turn on, and you can't use hair dryers in any of the bathrooms, the host has warnings about being careful not to blow circuits), 3) do NOT leave food out (we had a mega ant colony invade when we left some nuts and dried fruit not fully sealed), 4) owner's dog barks a bit in the mornings and evenings -- we were up early so it wasn't a huge deal, but might bother you if you like to sleep in.

The place was awesome! Very spacious and clean. Everything you needed in the kitchen to cook. We used the bbq a few times! Great sized back yard. We used the kayaks the last day, one of which was a 2 seater! When you decide to head to the beach they had a variety of gear and toys you need for all different activites, that was super convenient! Host was friendly and quick to respond to any questions. Will be saving and hopefully be back soon! Thank you!

Love the location. The backyard was spacious and it was nice to have the canal nearby. Most of the kitchen pans are warped which makes cooking difficult, and a lot of the glasses and stemware are chipped. We really wanted to like it, and if it’s all about location, this is a great place for you. But the rugs and furniture were stained. The middle bedroom had the most uncomfortable bed any of us have ever felt. It sagged so much that you couldn’t get comfortable. The owner was kind and quick to respond to any issues we had, but unfortunately, there wasn’t a lot to do about the cleanliness and overall wear of a lot of the things in the unit. It wouldn’t cost a lot to update a few things and then this place would be great.

This property was a great location for our visit to Oahu. It was in close proximity to the beach and the town shops. The property manager, David, was incredible and very attentive. Any questions we had, he was quick to respond. The only negatives were only one of the kayaks is working and often, there were dogs from the other resident barking during the night. This only affected the master bedroom. Other than those, it was perfect and we’d definitely stay again.

We were a group of adults and one child spending 1 week in Pua’s home end January and our summarized impression: we couldn’t ask for more ! Property is large, clean and has everything , a large living & well quipped kitchen, comfy rooms, functional AC, clean bathrooms and even beach chairs, towels, toys, volleyballs ! Kayaking from the property to ocean was a breeze and was also included ! Pua and David were prompt and courteous, and helped us in every possible way ! We had a great stay here! It is in a nice neighborhood within walking distance of the beach. It was behind the owner's property which I wasn't able to visualize from the pictures, but they were very friendly. Overall very enjoyable.

The most disappointing issue was the VRBO pictures do not accurately represent the property. It was labeled a Canal Front with kayaking to the beach but there was only 1 kayak, the life jackets were full of sand and the resident said it wasn't a good idea to go in the canal water. Another disappointing issue was the cleanliness and condition of the property. It needs a deep clean, there was dirty laundry in the bathroom drawer, strange bottles of stuff in the bathroom closet, mold/mildew in the windows, the patio door fell off when we tried to open it, the view out the bedroom window was to the owners back yard and it had 3 dogs and an old ATM, the kitchen window view was to the space that the property owner can access and it was full of storage and not very pleasing to look at. We made it work and im sure the property owners do their best but I feel they shouldn't misrepresent what their property actually has to offer. It was uncomfortable to share the space with the owners because you felt like you were in their space. The ad should also disclose that too.

We all enjoyed our stay here. The house is in a great location close to shops, beaches, and hiking. David was responsive anytime we had questions. We would all stay again.

The property is large and spacious. The bedrooms are nice size. It is in the back to a main house. I did not see that in the listing which is not a big deal to us. However, I think it should be noted in the listing. There are two or three dogs on the property, which we only heard a couple of times. They are very well behaved.

Always great to be in Kailua. Rental was conveniently located to town and beaches. We also enjoyed being able to kayak on the canal. Propert manager was great to deal with and very responsive to questions.

Neat place for family of 5-7 with location central to 20-30 minute drive everywhere. 3 bedrooms 2 baths nice kitchen and Mountain Views on a canal. We liked it!

We had a lovely time in Hawaii. The proper served it’s purpose as a home base for us as we were attending an event in Kaneohe. It was very convenient to Kailua town, beaches, Lanikai and highways to get all around the Island. Pua was very kind and helpful and responsive!!!!!. The property is large and had everything we needed including use of the washer and dryer. It is simple duplex in a residential neighborhood. I feel that the description and price accurately reflect that. Having a/c was very nice as it was very warm the week we were there!!! Make sure to read all the helpful notes and your stay will be lovely! Cons: Property grounds could use some TLC. There was an ant issue however…. it is an island and we were able to manage it. Old windows did not block sounds property owners when they were home. Although this was not disruptive of our stay, just a little weird. Occasionally we would smell smoke coming through the old windows. I didn’t want to complain but Pua was so kind I’m sure if I had let her know she would have solved that issue. That would happen once or twice a day. It wasn’t a constant issues but noticeable. Overall not many cons.

This house was a great fit for 6 adults and 2 kids. Good location near Kailua beach and Kailua town. Host was helpful and responsive! Would stay again.

This is a beautifully constructed back house behind the main house where the home owner lives. There was plenty of space and a lot of additional amenities (e.g. beach supplies) along with two single-person kayaks were provided. Location was perfect as it was a 15 min walk to Kailua beach and only a 7 min drive to Lanikai beach. Both beaches were absolutely amazing and perfect for sunrise viewing. If you're in need of groceries or looking to dine out, Kailua downtown is a 6 min drive out. I would recommend this gem looking to stay in Oahu, but away from all the mayhem and traffic in Waikiki.

Great proximity to beach and shopping. Not much privacy as this rental is attached to another portion of the original home. Normally not a problem but the proximity of your windows to theirs as well as being able to hear straight through the walls (We could hear coughs and sneezing and barking dog) in the master bedroom was odd. Very clean except for the rugs. They all need to be replaced. Normal ant problem for the area if you leave any food out. We kept the food in the refrigerator (including bread) after the first night. Washer and dryer are shared and after the 3-4 notes everywhere about electricity usage, we didn't use the dryer at all and felt guilty about using the washing machine. We left the AC's running once during the day and returned to a note on the door admonishing us about leaving them on complete with exclamation points. When we would return late in the day it was blazing hot inside and we would be ready to shower and cool off...it was just a difficult situation. We do understand the problem with electricity (we had expected there to be 5 of us and only had 3 were in our party so hopefully the owners didn't receive an unexpected bill due to our behavior). Perhaps owners could let the tenants know for an extra $? amount of money they would be allowed to leave the AC on in just the living room? Just a thought. Overall very clean. Broken down car out front and boat permanently parked on street made parking odd and difficult. I honestly tried to find another place to stay and everything was booked. The Disney hotel for example. I felt like my family needed a bit of pampering after staying here. We saved money but I am not sure I would make that same choice again. Savings and overall cleanliness are top here.

We loved our stay and would love to return. It was such a treat to be able to kayak on the canal and even kayak to Buzz’s restaurant! Our teen grandson enjoyed playing his ukelele and kayaking while our 3 year old grandson loved feeding ducks and fish at the dock. The home is comfy and has planet of space with a warm feeling. Only thing I’d encourage is replace the fence that has boards instead of fencing. Our 3 yo grandson always wanted to go back to our ‘Hawaii Home’ whenever we were out and about. Also our host was so very helpful and sweet. We definitely recommend staying here.

Marissa was so accommodating during our stay! When we arrived, everything was provided for us, since we did fly from CA we didn’t have much with us in terms of napkins, spices, etc. The house was very clean and it was a short 20 min walk to the most beautiful beach in Oahu! The house was beautiful with a little lake in the backyard. We had a great time in Oahu and felt very safe in the neighborhood and house :)

This lovely apartment is well designed and maintained, and just in the perfect location. Everything went smoothly, and the owner is super nice to us. We really enjoyed our stay. PROS: Pua is lovely and kind. The house is beautiful and the location is an ideal launching point for seeing Oahu —much better than places we’ve stayed in Honolulu. It would be great for kids since there is a big backyard with a gate and steps down to a dock on the canal, and there are kayaks to use to paddle along Kailua’s canals. It’s close enough to walk to the beach and the beach is spectacular. My brother brought his inflatable standing paddle board and enjoyed paddling to the beach. My husband and I enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen which allowed us to prepare meals for the whole gang. The first and second bedrooms are super quiet with the air conditioning on and we slept like logs. THE CONS: The walls in the master bedroom are shared with Pua, so if you have a very light sleeper put them in the first or second bedroom (and Pua is very quiet, but a good precaution if someone is especially sensitive). GREAT HOSTS: We did have an incident where a member of the host’s family had a mental health emergency but everything is fine, everyone is safe, and the person who caused the disruption is no longer on the property. Pua and Marisa went out of their way to apologize and even refunded the charge for our disrupted night, but it wasn’t necessary. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will return next time we’re on Oahu

My husband and I and another couple recently stayed here. Very pleased and look forward to returning here next year. There are lots of little extras that make it a very comfortable stay. Lots of beach towels, beach chairs and beach toys. Mattresses were very comfortable. The shopping and restaurants are plentiful in Kailua. The best part were the beautiful beaches nearby!

We enjoyed the beaches on this side of the island. It was about a 10-15 minute walk, not too bad. We also used the kayaks to ride out to the beach and that also took us about 15 minutes. We didn’t spend a lot of time at “home” because we were out exploring other parts of the island. It was nice to come home and have air conditioning. The beds were comfortable and we rested well. Pua was helpful and responsive to our needs and we would definitely stay here again.

Pua and Kimo are very responsive to all inquiries and requests. Place is clean, quiet, accessible to the beach, complete kitchen accessories, spices and a big place for 7 adults. Thank you for making my birthday extra special. We will definitely go back.
