The perfect place for my family and I to celebrate my 30th birthday. Peaceful, magical property. We loved the lawn and played so many games outside -- we didn't want to go into town because staying in the home was just so incredible! Plenty of room for everyone. Loved the story of the place, the communication with the host was super easy and check-in and check-out were great. Having the private beach and access to kayaks was incredible, we loved exploring the area by water. Stunning views of Mt Baker from the home and the hot tub was lovely as well. Can't say enough good things! We will be back! *One important note: There is a major wasp infestation on the property -- we found nests near the hot tub, on the roof of the house, and under the patio. They are flying around a lot and often get in the house (we caught and released about a dozen in our 3 nights there). This definitely detracted from our stay! So please be aware, especially if you're allergic.

Everything you might need is included in this lovely home. It is spacious and clean, and has beautiful views of the water and mountains. Peaceful, comfortable, and a great place for a group to vacation together.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this location. The house had pretty much everything we needed and the quiet place on the water was a nice sight to wake up to each morning. The only thing to note is that it seems the island doesn't have the best internet service options and the house was out of cell range for most of our group. We made do with the internet service provided as it wasn't critical for us, so the connection hiccups didn't impact how much fun we had here.

Our family, ranging from a baby to 66, had a great family trip. The house was in great shape and the private beach was prefect during low tide.

The online photos do not do this place justice. I thought the photos where beautiful but it's even more charming in person! Also the kitchen has been updated and is lovely. We had a wonderful time, highly recommend.

Great views just outside of town.

Spacious house on a very large property with "beach" access. The beach is small with lots of large driftwood. When not exploring the island, we spent most of our time on the large deck or in the hot tub. The unit is well stocked with amenities including a Keurig coffee maker and associated cups and most anything else you might need or want. Owner was very responsive and helpful and lives in a separate house on the property. Master suite with king size bed and large double sink bathroom. There are two upstairs bedrooms that share a small bathroom. The upstairs loft has two beds. There is a toilet in the laundry room adjacent to the kitchen. The dining room can seat 12. The living room has a leather loveseat, leather couch and two rocking chairs. Very comfortable. Appliances are newish plus a nice barbeque and a large crab boiling pot on the spacious deck. There are large lawns that I would not want to mow and the property is surrounded by large trees with very happy birds. The kitchen, living room, bedroom and a deck have views of the bay and Mt. Baker (on a clear day). You can see the Milky Way on a clear night. Its about a 6-8 minute drive to Friday Harbor and also very close to American Camp. Highly recommended.

Lovely place, amazing views. It was great that you could close off one end of the house for early to bed people. Comfortable, lots of space, and a well equipped kitchen. We had a great time!

Wow. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of these hosts: Everything supplied in plenty, with extras (like 8 acres of beautiful grounds to ourselves! kayaks! crab cooker!) that we never expect to find again at other places. We're spoiled now. The owners' loving personal touches were evident throughout. The view is unparalleled: We had three golden dawns just like the photo. One tip: The hosts (understandably) request shoes off in the house. Elders, especially, will appreciate bringing along some clean "inside" slippers if they are no longer comfortable with bare feet. The Washington State ferries were a challenge for us, but Don gave us some tips that helped us. In short, a perfect place for our grown family.

The property is stunning, the views are amazing, the private cove/beach is wonderful, and the owners put a lot of care into the details. We’ve rented on the San Juan’s for 7 years and this is by far the best! We loved house and the grounds. It was a great set up for our two families of four as the house is two houses remodeled into one! Two bedrooms are on each side. Our kids loved playing at the beach, kayaking with the sit-on-too kayaks provided, running around the fields, or playing some of the fun games the owners have left for guests (badminton, croquet, bocce ball). It’s a family paradise!

Our party of 6 adults, 2 teens and 1 toddler had an amazing time on SJI. This property is close to Friday Harbor and has everything you would need for a great family vacation! We enjoyed the properties kayaks and hot tub. We spent an unexpected amount of time playing badminton and walking the vast property. The kitchen is WELL stocked - no need to bring anything but food. Plenty of space for 2 families and a set of grandparents!

This property is a gem, with gorgeous views of Mt Baker and the water, and a quick drive into Friday Harbor. Our group of 4 adults and 4 children under 10 enjoyed the private beach and 2 kayaks, expansive lawn and lawn games, and hot tub. The house is very well appointed with a stocked kitchen for prepping and cooking, lots of fluffy towels, soft sheets, and comfy beds. The house was perfect for 2 families, as the bedrooms are separated into separate wings of the house. Te owners were quick to respond and located nearby, yet we felt a lot of privacy during our stay. Would love to return and explore more of the island!

The house has lots of character and the grounds were great for a group of people to explore and let older kids have freedom to run around. Beautiful views!

This is hands down the best VRBO experience we have had! The property is exactly as described, well actually it is better than described. The kitchen is the best stocked kitchen! You will have everything you need! The linens and pillows are top quality. The beds are all amazingly comfortable. The hot tub is clean and in great condition. The property manager has thought of everything down to free time activities such as two kayaks, tennis rackets (courts near by at the golf course, $12 per person), badminton, croquettes, board games, books and movies. The property is quiet. Beach access is just a beautiful walk through the yard. Sunrise is beautiful if the sky is clear. The property manager took the time to give us ideas of things to do while on the island. You will feel as if you are in your own home while here. We saw seals (out in the water), a fox and deer on the property! We loved our time and are so thankful for the opportunity to stay here!

My husband and I and another couple spent 5 nights at this lovely home! The house was exceptionally well stocked, and there was plenty of room to spread out both inside and outside. Badminton and bocce ball sets were provided which we thoroughly enjoyed. Hot tub was great. Hosts even provided the makings for smores. Would love to come back and stay another time!

We stayed here for my mother-in-law's birthday with 5 adults and 3 kinds (ages 1,7,9). Everyone had an excellent stay - clean, comfortable and absolutely stunning location/view!

This property is so fun. Even though it was April, we still kayaked, played badminton, soccer on the huge lawn and enjoyed the hot tub. My older in-laws enjoyed the downstairs bedroom - the bed was very comfy. The kids and my husband and I stayed in the two bedrooms above the kitchen. Unfortunately the queen that my husband and I slept in is done- it dipped in the center and it was uncomfortable. There are a lot of Knickknaxks and decor around that made it somewhat difficult to use the space fully without it looking quite messy. Even so, this place is great and the owner responsive (he is a neighbor). We'd stay here again if there was a bed replacement. While there were two more beds in a loft area we wouldn't want to have that people in this house as the living room wouldn't be able to handle that number of people. If the price was right, I'd like to stay here with just my two kids, husband and I again. This way we could have the master bedroom ;) We have family in the island so are up there 3-4 lx a year.

4 day weekend. We would have stayed longer if it had been possible. Such a lovely house....so warm and inviting. Traveled with my adult children and their spouses....we travel around to different vrbo homes a couple times a year....this is the first I've wanted to write a review for....you won't be sorry .... wonderful experience....everything as posted and more. Everyone had a great time.....7 thumbs up from this happy family!!!!

This house is the most perfect place for our young family. The property is expansive and beautiful, giving our boys so much to explore. The house is funky and sweet and homey with a beautiful history, making it feel like you've found something truly and authentically special. The property manager is prompt and helpful and clearly loves the property as much as we did. We have found our home away from home and intend to stay at this property every time we return!

Let me just say that the property is GORGEOUS! The interior was tasteful decorated with colors but not over the top. The grounds were well maintained. Loved the will animals roaming the grounds! When we booked Donald did not allow dogs. We asked if it was possible to have our dog. Donald asked us to pay $500 for cleaning fees so we did. We also paid for the insurance to reassure him. He wanted us to know he lives a few feet away beyond the trees & they have cameras. We had zero qualms with this. Our dog was in our wedding so we were willing to pay additional fees to have him at Roche Harbor for the day of our wedding. Plus the property was gorgeous.With this said, on our second day we were asked if it was possible for this crew to come do small maintenance. Reluctantly I stated I would agree if it was urgent because it’s quite a disruptive request. The owner decided that it wasn’t necessary after all since we said we have people there through our entire stay. On our first day on the amazing private beach, there was a man (owner)walking on the cliff above, watching us. Regrettably two of our kids wondered over too far on the rocks. The man watching us asked us “are we clear on the property boundaries”. We stated we didn’t realize that the children went over and spoke to the children on the spot in front of him. It never happened again. We were all a little weary to be on the beach because each time we were out there the man was watching us. Things seemed that things were quite copacetic but once we departed I read a message that was sent on our first day on the beach regarding the kids. While the issue was already addressed I wanted to apologize and give some private feedback about how uncomfortable we felt about being watched when we were on the beach. Additionally since Donald stated he notified VRBO of the kids trespassing even though he saw us speaking with the kids as he stood on the cliff. I wanted to address this, politely. Donald became quite angry and began saying we damaged his artwork, left “dog crap” on the bed spread, the bed spread was chewed up, we left trash everywhere and more. My response was we took a video of the house as we vacated. I also admitted that we accidentally forgot out wedding cake and some milk and apologized. In addition I offered to send him the supporting documentation of our last day as we vacated. Donald did not respond, yet. Do I recommend staying here? Sure! Video your exit! Time stamp it!

Ten adults from our family stayed here and we had a fantastic time. We brought our kayaks and launched from the private beach. The kitchen is the best equipped of any other vrbo I’ve stayed at. The grounds are immaculate and beautiful. My 80 year old parents loved sitting on the deck and birding. We saw bald eagles, seals on the rocks, and a deer with twin fawns in the yard every day. The internet was spotty, but the games in the house were more fun anyway. We had a crab fest outside on the deck, played badminton and read to our hearts contents. Great location!!

Beautiful and large property with private beach and stunning views. Host was super responsive and left a cute welcome gift. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. The internet was spotty at times but other than that everything was wonderful! Would highly recommend!

Wonderful place for a family vacation, beautiful flowers, nice outdoor hot tub, great views, comfortable beds and a private beach, we would love to stay again. Very well equipped kitchen and new washer and dryer.
