Property was clean, perfect place for a family with a dog. We used all the amenities, highly recommend to all

Overall, beautiful home! Nice to have the water toys. All the kids, big and small, were on the water connecting (they live in different areas now). The weather was a nice break from the Houston summer! Beautiful views of the mountains and water!
The whale watching was fantastic! The Roche Are was so cute. Coffee, boats galore, and several eateries. Friday Harbor had nice shopping, The Whale Museum, and also nice coffee places.
Next time…we are going to take the sail plane ✈️.

We were staying on the island for a wedding at Roche Harbor and this house was amazing. Large and clean and walkable to the small town, water and venue. Thank you for hosting!

This home had everything we needed traveling with young kids and a pet. The older kids loved clamming on the beach each morning. The hosts had clam buckets, tons of clam boots and shovels for the experience! We enjoyed kayaking around the bay. Walking or biking distance to Roche Harbor for a sunset and dinner. The home and hosts were wonderful!

We enjoyed our stay here, it's a nice spot out of the hustle and bustle and tourist traffic around Friday Harbor. We saw quail, deer and birds nearby and a baby otter we had to rescue from the middle of the road. The house had everything we needed and was a good layout with nice views from the decks. It's a short walk over to Roche Harbor, though note coming back is a lot of steep uphill.
Only a few negatives I would say.
The house was quite loud, the hard floors and acoustics meant you heard every toilet flush and door all over the house. No big deal but something to be aware of if you have night owls and others who go to bed early.
The bikes mentioned in the listing were also not present, though I think the hill to Roche Harbor would have been too steep to ride up anyway.
Lastly the shower floor upstairs was quite slippery especially when soapy and I almost fell a few times. Be careful! A non-slip mat or coating there would probably be a good idea.
Otherwise we loved the house and didn't want to leave!

Love this house so much that we keep coming back when we stay by Roche Harbor. Right on the water with great views of the bay and more privacy than staying on resort. Perfect place to stay with a group.

We loved the quiet setting and all the wildlife in the area. A great location walking distance to Roche Harbor
The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and dishes. Nice decor.
Only suggestion would be to update the bedroom pillows. Thank you! We had a wonderful stay!

Great place and location. Very quite and private. Very clean and well kept with lots of amenities.
Easily walkable (if you like a few hills) to Roche Harbor with restaurants, coffee, groceries/liquor. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly return.

Wonderful location, beautiful view. Lovely large accommodations.. and puppy friendly!
A few details could use improvement:
Out door bbq grill was rusty and very greasy felt uncomfortable to use.
The oven looked not to be cleaned for sometime and felt uncomfortable to use
The TV sound/ audio poor ( too loud - too soft)
Suggestion- please add grab bars in the shower for elderly

Such a beautiful location right on the water! So relaxing and quiet. Had a well stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture & beds, a cozy gas fireplace, and more. Enjoyed watching birds & seals from the back deck and walking on a very private beach (never saw anyone else on it during our stay, even though other houses share it). Even saw the house’s eponymous great blue heron! Would definitely stay here again if we’re ever in the San Juan’s.

We were a group of three couples. Each bedroom - an attached bathroom. There are four bedrooms though with a "jack and Jill" or shared bathroom between two of them. We had a couple questions and the host answered in less than 5 minutes. The knee hi boots in the garage - a surprise. Perfect for a rainy day and exploring. Appreciated the washer and dryer as we had been on the road for several days. Kitchen - about everything we needed. Ping pong table in the garage. Excellent stay.

This is a lovely home and was perfect for a friends getaway. This is a peaceful serene location where you can do as much or as little as you want. Close to the amenities at Roche Harbor, a short drive to Friday Harbor, and we loved the proximity to Westcott Bay Shellfish.
The setting on the Bay with picnic island right behind the property is ideal for watching wildlife or kayaking. The layout of the house was ideal for 3 adults and would be perfect for multiple couples or a family. We had a small issue with the grill and the owners came over immediately to take care of it.
We truly enjoyed our stay, highly recommend, and hope to come back!

We stayed here last year for our 20th Anniversary. Upon our return this year we wondered if the house would be as magical as we remembered it? It turned out to be better. It was almost like coming home. Beautiful view from the living room/kitchen area, comforting gas fire place, comfortable bed, and clean! Simply put, anytime we return to San Juan Island from here on our, there’s only one place we will stay!

The Heron House is a great location for viewing shorebirds. We had a lovely wintry vacation, warm and snug by the fireplace.

The Heron House was perfect for the 5 of us girls! Beds and bathrooms were great! Kitchen was well equipped. The views are stunning at all times of the day but sunrise was my favorite by far. We visited the nearby Alpaca farm and fed them and the goats, and “hiked” in to the McMillin Masoleum, which was super cool. We all love the history of it. We didn’t see any fox or otters, but saw several does. While we were there we got to experience “gale force” winds, which was cool, but kind of scary too. Haha. Didn’t lose power or anything though and the fireplace was nice ambiance. Highly recommend this house! Dave and Sue were very quick to respond to any of my questions. Will hopefully get a chance to come back! Thanks for adding to our GG’s memories!

After almost 40 years of renting vacation homes on Orcas we thought we would mix it up a bit and check out San Juan Island. We feel like we hit the jackpot with the Herron House which has THREE King bedrooms all with en-suites! there is a Fourth bedroom with a Queen as well. You can't beat the location which offers a beach, morning sunrises, walking distance to Roach Harbor and hiking trails. The home is outfitted with all you need for a fun day of clamming or crabbing right in your backyard. Oh, another bonus, it's pet friendly! Our time went by way too fast. This will be a Christmas to remember for sure.

Beautiful setting and newly modeled home direct for small to large groups, children and dogs. Owners popped by to see we had all needed. Rainy every day but it only enhanced the beauty of nature around you there.,, really glad we chose Roche bay. Short drive to Friday Harbor yet far enough to feel remote abd peaceful

This house and location is amazing. Right on the water at Westcott Bay, a 15 min walk to Roche Harbor.
The house is perfect. Comfy king size beds with attached bathrooms. Spacious, well equipped open concept kitchen and living space. I really can't say enough about this lovely accommodation.

This place is one of the best equipped vacation rental that any of us has experienced. Wonderful view and wonderful location. My 6 year old grandson was totally entertained with all of the amenities. My 93 year old mother was able to get around on the first floor and totally enjoyed the view off the deck or the view of the fireplace. We would all highly recommend this place and will be looking for a time when we can all get together there again in the future.

The 6 of us had a wonderful time! We all agree we would come back in the future. 3 king size bedrooms with en-suite bathroom. 1 bedroom with a queen bed. The picnic Island and wildlife was exceptional. We loved all there was to do on San Juan Island. Great walks and hikes, Whale watching, British and American Camp, Friday Harbor and Rouche Harbor, great restaurants too. We loved Duck Soup. We also loved cooking in the beautiful kitchen. Amazing, beautiful home!

We had a great time at Heron House. It was such a comfortable place to stay. Dave was easy to communicate with and was so helpful. The beach views were lovely, and the space was so big and easy to relax in. Super comfy bedrooms! Great shower! Internet went out but the views occupied us better than tv would have haha. My family had a great time and we’d love to come back again.

The home is right on the water, has gorgeous views, is a pleasant walk to Roche Harbor and was well furnished.

This house was absolutely perfect for us! Great location, great beds/bathrooms/bedrooms, lots of room and access to toys (kayaks, buckets, fishing pools, clam digging tools, etc.). The kids had a blast, and the adults enjoyed the large beds with ensuite bathrooms in every room. We are definitely going back....

We had a busy but relaxing getaway. Home was well eqipped and great variety of things to do. We enjoyed seeing wild animals from deck as well as whale watching at Lime Kiln Pt. Within walking distance was the Sculpture Garden which was my personal favorite. Overall we had a wonderful experience for our first time visiting San Juan.

Absolutely love Heron House. Second time we stayed and absolutely feel at peace here. The location is perfect. Walked to so many places this time around, Roche Harbor, sculpture garden, Westcott Bay, magical hikes. Perfect stay. Thank you Dave and Sue.

What a beautiful house! This home is amazing - it’s huge yet has a very cozy feeling. It has an awesome view of the water, plus a tiny island you can walk to when the tide is out. It’s super close to Roche Harbor, which has restaurants, a market, and several water/boat activities. It’s even just a 15 minute drive to Friday Harbor!
It was just the two of us, plus our pup. We could have brought our families with us and still had room! The kitchen is awesome and fully stocked with everything you need. It’s hard to find a house that accepts pets - this one even had doggie towels for their feet and a drawer full of supplies!
Our host, Sue, was great! She was always quick to respond and eager to assist us. We loved our stay so much, we’re returning in the fall! Don’t hesitate to book this home for your next trip to San Juan Island!
