Overall, a much needed streamfront cabin getaway that exceeded our expectations. The cozy 2 story cabin was beautiful, clean, well decorated and stocked with all key kitchen needs. We didn't use the tv upstairs, however, make good use of the cd/radio player with excellent sound. The location of this cabin is also very special, a good 10-12 miles outside of the busier sections of Payson, much more out in wilderness which is what we were looking for. Once exiting the main road of 87, the the slower scenic drive, with numerous turns, amazing views of the Mogollon Rim is unique journey in itself. We even witnessed a roadrunner, crossing the road in a high desert section of this drive. Sitting out in the backyard in the dark of night, we enjoyed the sounds of the stream/nature, the multitude of stars in the sky and the trees which all came alive in a very memorable/spiritual symphony. Finally, the host/property manager Gabriel was appreciative/caring/concerned/fair/prompt/reliable in addressing any questions. Thank you Gabriel for allowing us to share some special time at your streamfront cabin and for all of your caring, friendly, timely and professional assistance. Probably my fault for not vetting this property more thoroughly, like seeing the elk heads on the wall. The place was just too rustic for me. The setting appears very nice and relaxing, and the backyard was just that. The cabin was pretty uncomfortable. The upstairs queen bed was very hard and squeaked with only the minimal of movements. The couch upstairs had some good sagging going on. Since that was the only location for the television, this got uncomfortable quickly. I ended up sleeping on the hid-a-bed downstairs as the best place to sleep, if you can imagine. Also, the only bath is downstairs. The stairs are steep, almost like a ladder, so night time up or down was dangerous. No throw blankets around, only the quilts for the beds and it was cold. The river was very close and I loved hearing the water from the cabin and backyard. Getting to the river was tricky. Once through the gate, the climb down to the river was steep and rocky. Had to hold onto a juniper bush to get down. Once down there, the trail to the left was short, the trail to the right was non existent. I could not see a clear way to the right and the canyon without rock scrambling. I was not willing to take that risk. The location is about 30 minutes from Payson on a winding road. Also, unlocking and locking the entry gate was annoying. So, I will review better next time as this was way too basic and dangerous for me.

The cabin itself is nice. The parking is not so great. It lies at the end of a fenced-on-both-sides narrow road, with two spaces to park that are very difficult to back up and around to get out of (I have a Camry, so not a large car). Removing some large rocks, and turning it into a round-about space would eliminate that issue completely, and would not be a real problem if you just plan on remaining in the cabin the entire stay, only having to do the turnaround single time. The air-conditioner works very well in cooling the entire cabin down, despite the 90+ degrees we had while there, and once night falls, can be shut off. Would be more enjoyable to have a large tv downstairs with access to cable, or at least the capability to bring and plug your own devices into for watching, as going up and down the stairs for the bathroom or food/beverages can get tiring, especially after a day of hiking. The landscaped backyard is a beatiful space to sit and enjoy coffee, drinks, or pretty much anything, with the sounds of the river flowing just beyond the fence. The overall experience was very positive. We unplugged, except for music, for most of the 4 nights we stayed. If you are looking to get out of the fast-paced daily living zone, this is definitely the place to do it! We would definitely return!

We so much enjoyed the cozy cabin surrounded in luscious green. A serene and peaceful place with the sound of the flowing stream and the fresh juniper breeze.

We had a delightful time at the Blackberry Cabin. Beautiful space and a just fantastic location! Highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon it was amazing the cabin is very clean and spacious with a beautiful backyard full of berries, I can’t wait to come back !

My dream of a stay. I asked for trees and I loved them all. The first todays were very peaceful and quiet. But the neighbor next door decided to clean her yard up. And they started in around 8 am weed eating the whole yard. So there ent the quietness. So it forced us to get out and explore the area. Which was great. We enjoyed going to see the Zane Grey home. Which my husband loves his books. But we had planned just to chill out at the cabin the whole week. We definitely will rebook maybe when there is blackberries in abundance. We did get to see some wild life which we totally loved. Fell in love with Payson. Overall we loved our stay!

Property Mgmt was excellent. Place was remote and beautiful.

Relaxing time. The views from the porch were amazing, the cabin was cleaned and equipped with everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this cabin for anyone looking to relax and unwind.

Is our third time staying at the cabin !!! We love it!! The weather was perfect, cabin is beautiful in and out! Patio and the river in the back , private for us to enjoy! Is the perfect place for a family vacation! We will be back soon!!!

This little cabin had all the basics necessary to have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Nestled against the Verde River, the sound of the river was a pleasant companion during my stay. The porch was the perfect place to have my morning tea and enjoy my summer novel. River access was a bit rustic so I recommend sturdy soled “river” shoes to scramble over the rocks. This cabin has a cozy western vibe. Be sure to check out the magazines on the coffee tables!

This is our third time at this property and we continue to love going here. So peaceful and relaxing. Love sitting on the patio listening to the birds and the sound of the water from the stream. Host always goes above and beyond to provide everything we need plus some. Thank you so much for letting us enjoy your cabin. We will be back again in the fall.

Great place to stay with the kids! Very relaxing but also a lot for the kiddos to do outside by the river. Very clean and we had a peaceful sleep. The air conditioning was great! Would definitely stay again. The host was very pleasant in his communication and everything was as he said it would be. We are grateful to the host for a wonderful stay.

Small cabin but very peaceful with East Verde river running by backyard which is very lush and green which makes a nice place to relax.

Nice little cabin just a few steps from a stream. Quiet and peaceful neighborhood so it’s easy to relax inside or out. Cabin was comfortable and ready for our arrival. We really enjoyed using the BBQ out back and sitting by the fireplace on the cool mountain mornings.

The place was rustic and quaint, yet adequate with all amenities. The rushing water out back was soothing and relaxing and the smell of pine from the trees was refreshing. A herd of white tailed deer even graced us with their presence one evening, and again the next morning while walking along the stream. It was a great escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We’ll be back.

The cabin was tidy, beautiful and functional. The location was equally stunning with the river acting as a wonderful kind of white noise, quietly in the background. It was lovely.

We've been to this cabin a few times and we enjoy it every time, relaxing in the backyard listening to the river, while the kids play with the snow, exactly what we needed.

For starters, Gabe was so kind and easy to work with. From our first communication I knew this would be just what the Husband and I needed. With the provided directions the cabin was very easy to find. One very small concern we initially had was the driveway access. We drove our Ram 2500 and it was a tight squeeze. We left to grab a couple groceries and decided to back down the shared driveway to access the property. We loved how the cabin was tucked back in the corner just above the river. The second we stepped out of the truck we could smell the pines and hear the river running. It was so peaceful. The cabin was very tidy with a few Christmas touches. As others have previously mentioned they gifted us with Buttermilk Pancake mix and Blackberry jam. The jam was heavenly. We enjoyed every second of our weekend at the BlackBerry cabin. We cannot wait to come back in the summer!

My family and I had a great experience at Gabe's cabin. It was the perfect Christmas getaway for my family. Check in was a breeze and it had all of the amenities to keep us cozy and warm as we lounged in the middle of the forest amongst the trees. The river was easy to get to and provided us with some nice, peaceful nature time. Gabe was very attentive to my questions and helped me and my family have a great trip. I would come back here afain

This is a great place for a weekend getaway. The cabin is convenient to many hiking areas and state attractions but also perfect for just hanging out at. We had a great time!

This was our second stay, at end of September. The cabin seemed the perfect temperature throughout the days. The wood burning stove kept us warm as the nights grew cold. The property is set back within a quiet neighborhood and backs the river. Being at the cabin leaves you in a peaceful state as you listen to the river and the wildlife, while wasting the day away. This particular stay had a few of the blackberries on bushes by the riverbank, ready to eat. The elk decided to run up and down the river a few times in the early evening on day two and we watched as the 5 of them made their way through the neighborhood eating the leaves of the trees across the river. We caught some again grazing the next morning on our way out. The river had a nice flow to it, a bit less than it was at the end of April but still such a relaxing sound. A neighbor across the river managed to catch a few good size (trout?). The cabin had all the supplies we needed. We bring our Firestick for the evenings to watch tv upstairs, and board games or puzzles which work great on the large coffee table downstairs. There is no cellphone service for calls but a landline is on property for emergency. We enjoyed the blackberry jam with pancakes and homemade soap that the owners left to welcome us. We will return.

We have had a very hectic year and decided we needed to get away. We recently moved to the AZ desert and we were looking for some fresh mountain air, to be able to enjoy being outside. The pictures on the site were definitely accurate but walking in made an even better impression. It was immaculate,! Furniture was fairly new, Keurig coffee system that had coffee available, well stocked kitchen w/spices, blackberry jam, pancake mix and blackberry hand soap, very nice welcome to our home gift! I did need to get a hold of Gabriel for something that I had overlooked and he responded right away. The cherry on the top is the deck and the backyard, you won't want to leave to explore with the stream rippling from below the property! My husband is a certified TV watcher but he really enjoyed the True Western magazines, I think he read all of them so there wasn't much TV watching so I enjoyed the peace and quiet. We explored Payson, there is no shortage of great restaurants, we really liked La Sierra Mexican and Mike's Fish & Chips! It rained quite a bit, which we loved so we didn't get to do much hiking but we made it a point to go explore my #1 AZ bucket list item, the Tonto National Bridge which is just about 20 minutes down the road, it was amazing!! A beautiful park for a picnic, the 4 viewpoints were excellent as I have a fractured foot so I was unable to hike any of the trails but this is a must see! We will definitely be coming back!
