This was an awesome house for our family vacation. It was very clean and well maintained. The hosts were quick to respond to questions and supply everything you could possibly need, even down to firewood for the fire pit. The older kids loved having their own space downstairs. Lots of possibilities for water activities. There were two kayaks, a paddle board, and even a pedal boat which our three year old grandson loved riding in. The house is very close to a boat launch ramp. We loved having our boat docked at the house and always ready for tubing, swimming and wake surfing. The huge yard allowed plenty of room for outdoor games. And, we really enjoyed watching the neighborhood ospreys feeding their young. We would love to stay here again, and highly recommend it to others.

Had one issue which I had to contact the owner. Response was prompt and taken care of quickly.

This was our 2nd year renting this property and it was fabulous. We have 5 grandkids that joined us and this beautiful place on a quiet cove with a nice sandy beach, water toys galore, and a perfect house for families, made for a wonderful week. Our host Lauren was perfect. We have rented at Gaston for 20 years. This is hands down the best rental we have ever had.

We loved the pull up! The view of Lake Gaston and the dam! We had the best neighbors (osprey and babies). The experience on the lake this year was surreal! The Gathering Place was a very welcoming place to be and a centralized location between Roanoke Rapids & Littleton. We will DEFINITELY be staying here again!

The entire family, ranging from 4 to 70, enjoyed this vacation at Lake Gaston. The Gathering Space we rented through VRBO was a perfect match for our family, including a lower level with 6 bunk beds, a ping pong table, a fooseball table and other games for our grandchildren. outside was a very useable single boat dock, a Sandy private beach area, kyaks, other toys for children and adults and, of course, beautiful Lake Gaston.

This was exactly what we needed. The access to the main lake in the boat is superior. The bedrooms all on the main floor for the grown ups and the children's bunk room being downstairs is fabulous. This is one we will definitely consider again. The views from the house were superb and the screen porch was wonderful. The owner was really responsive when we had trouble accessing the key upon arrival..

I’ve been renting vacation homes at Lake Gaston for the past 6 years … and this one by far has it all. Plenty of space for 3 families. (11 of us total). We all could not get over how comfortable the beds were. I feel all 3 families will have new mattresses inspired by this house very soon. Plenty of games and space for the kids to play. The kitchen was well stocked. We really felt at home. The smart TV allows you to sign into your own accounts which is nice for the evening wind downs. The sandy “beach” was amazing for my 4 and 5 year old. They both learned how to swim underwater thanks to it!!! Lots of room for practice! Even more fun was that at the end of the dock you were able to jump off with no obstructions. It was pretty deep! I won the belly flop competition. (I do not recommend participating in such competitions as an adult.) The views were amazing. Watching storms roll in. Watching boats drive by. Our neighbor in the field was an osprey with some babies…up on an electrical line. It was great to watch the mama osprey hunt for fish. She did a better job than us. Owner was very easy to get ahold of, and was always kind and prompt. I will rent this house every year that it’s on the market. I just don’t think another house could compare.

We have been renting places at Gaston for 20 years. This was by far the best place. The pictures don't do this place justice. The location was perfect. Peaceful, beautiful, and calm. While the other parts of the lake were crowded and rough with boats and wind, we always had quiet and calm here. It was perfect for our grandchildren to wade in the sandy beach area. We always had shade throughout the day and it was great to be able to launch our boat nearby and dock it at the boat lift. We had 8 adults and 4 grandkids and there was ample room for everyone. The down stairs bunk room that could sleep 6 in bunks with a pull out couch was amazing. It was big and there was room for a foosball table, ping pong table, and a 2nd large TV in addition to the one upstairs. We really like the screened in porch and the wide open kitchen that was well stocked in addition to having pretty new appliances which was a welcome surprise. Our host Lauren could not have been more helpful and responsive to our needs. The bottom line is, we can't wait to rent next year. It was a magical week.

The Gathering Place is one of the best rental homes we have ever stayed at. Lauren is so quick to respond to any inquiries.. The house is so clean and well stocked! Our grandkids go right to the snacks upon arrival. Very nice touch! The location is convenient to the lake, grocery store etc. We will continue to make family memories every year at this beautiful location! This property was everything that we wanted for our weekend getaway. It was incredibly clean, well stocked, comfortable, and relaxing. I couldn’t believe how many times we said “did you see X any where?” And the answer was always “yes, it’s in that drawer” (or wherever it was located). There was plenty to do to entertain my almost 3 year old, including the beach entry for the water that made it incredibly easy for getting her and our infant as well in the lake. No complaints here! 10/10 would recommend!

Fishing, games, fire pit, movies, eating, sleeping — all was just what we hoped for and needed! This place has a real “home” feel, rather than a rental feel; a tangible difference from VRBOs in the past. Location on the lake is fabulous and fishing was successful! This house exceeded my expectations in cleanliness, comfort, and just all around great house. Having King sized beds in all the bedrooms was just awesome for my family. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen I have ever seen in a rental - nice dishes, silverware, appliances, pots and pans, etc. were all top notch stuff. Communication with the owner was always prompt. My adult children loved the house and we would all love to go back again!

Everything has advertised on property was correct. We especially liked relaxing on the dock and in the screened in-porch area and spent alot of time there enjoying the view when not outside. Kayaks provided were nice to have and when not outside boating , playing ping pong was a great for indoor play. Hope to visit again soon!

They even had a perfect camp fire already built in the fire pit ready for us to light. The check-in process was super easy and communication with Lauren was attentive and thorough. We had 4 adults and 6 teenagers and Lauren’s house was perfect! We rented a pontoon and easily tied it up to the dock when not using. The location at the back of the cove is perfect as well! House is very well taken care of and clean; perfect for family. Beautiful screened in porch with great view on a quiet part of the lake. Owners very accommodating and helpful. Everything is available at the house from well stocked kitchen to kayaks to Netflix. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed our time here. Grandparents enjoyed spending time with teenage grandchildren for their 50th wedding anniversary celebration. Great family time together.

Great location on the lake in a deep water cove that limits noise and waves. Nice place to tie up your boat without damage. Awesome boat dock with nice views and toys. House is huge and has a lot of room. The kitchen furnishings are also very nice and include quality pots/pans and knives which made cooking easier than usual rental properties. The screened-in porch is a really nice feature to enjoy the outdoors. Lot and neighborhood is wooded and full of life.

From our first contact with the owners to the last, they have been remarkable... always available and eager to meet our needs! This beautiful home is nestled in a quiet cove which allowed the grandkids freedom to play in the water, kyack near the dock, or fish in canoes In the cove under our watchful eyes! The fishing was awesome... whether from the dock or out in the lake in the boat. The lake was not crowded which allowed for skiing and kneeboarding and tubing without concerns for the grandkids safety. The porch overlying the lake has the most beautiful view! The house itself is perfectly designed for a family with children. It is fully stocked with everything you need.... cooking supplies, towels, sheets. The house was immaculately clean and the yard was well manicured!!!! We throughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this property.

I have rented several houses from VRBO, This one exactly matched my pre-trip expectations. That's worth it's weight in gold. The house is comfortable, every system worked fine even in the middle of a heat wave, and the kitchen is well stocked. I could go on, but it would be easier for you to read the owner's description. The Gathering Place was hands down the best experience we’ve had on VRBO. :) We had so much fun we extended our stay and didn’t want to leave! My husband and I wanted a safe getaway during the pandemic and Lauren’s place was incredibly clean, maintained, and stocked with whatever you may need (...we had smoothies every day in her blender and used the grill at night)! Lauren was super responsive for questions and so helpful. We kayaked, swam, and fished all day (...we caught a Garpike off the dock!) and couldn’t have had a better stay. We will definitely be back!!!! Thank you again to such lovely hosts!!!!

We felt right at home the second we arrived! Our grandchildren were in the water the entire stay! It was a very hot week and walking a few steps to the water was great! The welcome snacks were appreciated too! We couldn’t have asked for any better communication! Oh and the beds were so comfortable, we will miss them! We can’t wait to return in the future! This is a great house and everything Is as advertised. The set up of the house is perfect for families. The kids had the basement, the adults had the upstairs. House was very clean and had all of the little touches that made the house great. Kitchen was fully stocked, water toys were great. Highly recommend this house and definitely want to rent again the next time we are there.

Lauren was the most responsive owner I have dealt with on Vrbo. She would answer a question with in minutes. The house was clean and well stocked. The beds were extremely comfortable. My only suggestion for the owners are to add bar stools to the island. Can’t wait to go again!

We had such a wonderful few days. The house was clean, very well stocked and the perfect set-up for two families. We really enjoyed the screened-in porch and the bunk room was amazing! We will definitely be returning.

We had a great stay! The house is beautiful and spacious. A gorgeous sunset from the screened porch was perfect for the after-bedtime glass of wine (or what-have-you). The basement-level rec room was a PERFECT place for the kids to be as loud as they wanted to be... legos and TV included. The icing on the cake was the swimming area: A private little sandy beach in a quiet cove and a dock that’s plenty deep enough for jumping. It felt safe and clean, AND The kids all caught their first fishes! Side note: we HIGHLY recommend a visit to the Paranormal Museum in Littleton. Very weird and fun (and free).
