What a hidden gem! We came to stay while I had an author event locally and found this place lovely. I always appreciate hardwood floors, and there was a little kitchenette and sitting area that made it easy to kick our feet up.

The stay was fantastic, bed was very comfortable, and the staff was grade-A! Being from the Monterey Bay makes me very particular about where I stay and this was our first time at this spot & I’m so glad we rolled the dice! We will definitely be back to stay here.

This was a nice little hotel with vet clean rooms and very friendly staff. Bonus was fireplace in room. Short walk to oceanfront too.

Highly recommended! We walked down to my favorite sunset beach and watch the sunrise. We had a great time for our stay there for valentines day/our 4year anniversary. ❤️

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in Monterey. This place exceeded our expectations! We were expecting a basic inn but instead had a spacious room complete with fireplace and jacuzzi. The bathroom looks like it’s been recently remodeled, and the bedroom was so nice and clean it became our little “home” during our trip, rather than just a place to sleep and keep our stuff. I’ve honestly never loved a place I’ve stayed more, I think it was much more homey than if we’d stayed at a hotel. Everyone we talked to was so nice too, you can tell they genuinely go out of their way to accommodate any need you have. We’re definitely planning on coming back to Monterey at some point, and staying here again!

The location was great. However, the room we booked and we’re shown online was not what we received. We should have received a discount on the handicapped room. Also the walls are very thin. We could hear the people next door arguing. We will be back someday, but not at the Sunset Inn.

The room was very clean and cozy and quiet! The manager was very helpful and kind, very much wants you to enjoy your time there. Also had drinks , fruit and snacks available in the lobby. It was a very short, 5 minute walk to the beach. My 10 yr old grandson enjoyed the beach and looking for crabs. Beautiful sunsets. Would definitely stay again and longer next time! Lots of cute shops and great restaurants within a couple of miles.

We had a bit of a delay for our check in, but the manager was so kind and accommodating. He apologized for the inconvenience, let us place our bags in the room, and gave us a bottle of wine for the trouble. Went truly above and beyond, and would absolutely recommend staying for the staff alone!

My wife and I went for a weekend on the Monterey peninsula. Hotels there can be expensive and disappointing. Sunset Inn was in a good location and met or exceeded our expectations.

Nice room but was confusing checking in. Room we reserved was not available and had 2 options with one option being more money. Hmmm....

Worth the money and the drive! Our room had a gorgeous view and we were so in love with the short walk to the beach. It was less than 10 minutes to all the attractions of Monterey and we truly can not wait to return with the intention of staying at the sunset inn again!

The staff was impeccable, location optimal, and overall we had an enjoyable stay. Of course, it can get a little noisy given a room’s proximity to the next, but that did not ruin our time. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends. Thanks!

Very nice property close to the beach 🏖 and not too far from stores and bars

Tidy room with comfy king bed, perfect pillows, and updated modern bathroom. Mini fridge was convenient but advertised microwave perched on top couldn’t be plugged in because cord didn’t reach socket and there didn’t seem to be any other place to put it. If we had needed it I would have notified manager. Staff were very pleasant.

Very clean and comfortable motel room in a great location, steps to Asilomar Beach and half-hour comfortable walk to downtown Pacific Grove. A bit noisy as sound travels easily between rooms, and when one opens the windows to allow cool air to enter due to no cooling AC, the abundant outdoor sounds enter easily. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff makes up for all of this. We had a very nice stay.

This property was disappointing in the end as I feel it is way overpriced for what it is. Check-in was super friendly and efficient and the manager gifted me a bottle of wine upon arrival. The room was sparkly clean ( on the second day after house keeping -it smelled very strongly of bleach -but it was sparkling). It was very small- like a motel really, just the bed, TV, microwave on top of mini fridge- bare bones. Small bathroom with shower- updated and clean. It feels like a motel that got a bit of a face lift. Given the price - I felt it was too much for very simple accommodations. The walls are super thin and you hear the dog in the neighboring room scratching the door or people talking. Overall- very friendly management, but watch out that this is really more of a motel and has high price ticket for it .

We stayed at this property for our daughter's college graduation. It was a very nice room, and the manager was very helpful and kind.

Great location

We had a great stay in a beautiful room with gas fireplace, king bed, mini-fridge and microwave. The location is fantastic, it was quiet, the ocean was 2 blocks away, and staff were friendly. I thought the units would be separate cabins, but they were mostly small buildings of 2 units together, or maybe some upstairs/downstairs. Breakfast was extremely limited, but they were honest about that in advance when I asked. I would stay here again, and recommend it.

This is our second stay at Sunset Inn within one year. My husband and I have decided it is the only place we’ll book from now on when we visit the area. The hosts are kind, generous and professional. Service is top notch. Rooms are clean, comfortable and have all the amenities we require. The location couldn’t be better. Thank you again for your hospitality Rishi & family!
