My family enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cottage. Not easy to find 5 bedrooms that suits our family needs but this cottage is perfect. The location is so convenient to everything that we love; shopping, coffee shop, donuts, ice cream, shuffleboard, and miniature golf, not to mention the beautiful sunsets. Defintely 5 stars.

Once again, we had a wonderful stay at Kathy's house! The property is easy walking distance to all that Lakeside offers. Everything is very clean and there is plenty of space for our family of 9. We will be back next year!

Lakeside is just divine for a relaxing time! Kathy is a gracious hostess and excellent at communicating. The only feedback is it would be great if Lakeside had a better process for cars inside the night before a very early start, with the gates. Our family lives Lakeside that is a taste of life at a simpler pace!

The cottage was very clean and well kept. The air conditioning was such a bonus for the hot, sticky days. And our favorite part of all is the location and the front porch. It's across the street to the auditorium and we got prime listening pleasure of the orchestra practicing. This place is charming and we'll be back.

The house was perfect! Very clean, very organized, and the comfiest beds I have ever slept in. We enjoyed the location of the cottage as it’s in a walkable distance to just about anything in Lakeside. We would definitely stay here again

Very close to shops/downtown area and not too far from the pool either! We fit four couple with a room to spare with two infants and comfortably enjoyed our stay! Communication with the owners was also 10/10! We had a massive storm during o her stay and some damage was made to the exterior but was fixed within 24hrs. Highly recommend for your Lakeside stay!

This cottage was extremely clean and fit our family perfectly. We also enjoyed the convenient location across from Hoover which added to the Lakeside experience. Would definitely stay here again!

The cottage at Lakeside was perfect for our family. The kids could easily walk downtown, and the adults could hang out on the front porch or grill in the backyard. It was a tight squeeze for 10 of us, but it was fabulous.

Property was immaculate when we arrived. The owner had a "Manuel" with absolutely everything we needed to know. Such peace of mind to know that you could just open the notebook if any questions came up. I loved the pictures of all the rooms so I knew exactly how to put them back. Location couldn't have been better. Also loved the teenagers having their own rooms as a retreat when they needed some alone time.

We had a wonderful experience as always staying at 317 Central Ave! We ate outside much of the time in the beautiful outdoor seating. Everything was very clean, beautifully decorated, and extremely comfortable for our family of 8. The walk to Lakeside is super short from this superb location. We highly recommend staying here!

Great location—easy access to downtown and the lake and across the street from Hoover auditorium. Front porch an enjoyable spot. One negative-kitchen is small, not much counter space.

Our stay was perfect for our group of 8 friends/family. Plenty of amenities and very clean. Loved the front porch and the well appointed back patio. Beds were comfortable and the a/c units and ceiling fans kept us cool. Location was convenient to all downtown activities and shops. Liked it so much that we reserved for the same week next year before we even left the gates!

My grandkids loved their stay. My 2 four year olds loved riding their own bikes to where the action was. The older kids did too. They all loved all the activities and playing with the other very friendly kids at the basketball courts, Gaga pit and beach. I got a lot of steps in as well! It was a wonderful family vacation!

The house was absolutely spotless when we arrived. It had everything we could possibly need from kitchen utensils to plenty of dishes to paper products. Beds were plentiful and comfortable. Loved the front porch and listening to the shows from Hoover. Also such a short walk to uptown. Very good access to owners.

The location was amazing and close to everything. The house had everything we needed. My in laws weren’t comfortable with the stairs so they stayed downstairs; it’s nice to have a room on the first level.

We like renting cottages that are close to the action in Lakeside and this one is a good rental in a great location. The porch is great for sitting and watching the world go by. And even through we were there in October, we noted that the awning would make for much shadier and cooler afternoons on this western-facing porch in summer months. We appreciated the good quality mattresses on the beds, which isn't always what you get in a Lakeside rental. The kitchen is small but functional. We have stayed in many Lakeside rentals and this one will stay on the "keeper" list for us.

It was a great spot for all 3 generations of our family to gather for the weekend. Great location, and the house came with everything we could need. We had a wonderful time and would definitely return here again.

We came back for a second year to Camp Scheerer and had a wonderful time! Our family of 8 (our kids are ages 9 years - 6 months) couldn’t be happier with our experience at this beautifully maintained cottage. The location can’t be beat and the cottage fits so many people! Kathy is very responsive yo any questions you may have. We will be back next year!

This house has a great location to all activities. Everything you need for a great vacation like a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable front porch for people watching. Highly recommend this property.

We have stayed at Lakeside many times. This was our first time at this property. Everything was very clean. Every dish, utensil, cleaning supply, etc. you could need is already there. You bring the sheets and towels and you are set. I have four kiddos (5, 9, 14, 18) and my husband and I invited our moms. We had plenty of room on the porch, in the backyard, in the house. You cannot go wrong with this one. The new bathroom on the first floor is perfect and super clean. Each bed was cozy and there were extra blankets and pillows. Each room was very well done and definitely family friendly and gave you the Lakeside coziness that makes Lakeside what it is. We used some of the games available, some of the books, had the heat on and then the AC. The location is next to where they have church and concerts. So on Sunday we didn't even have to go to church. My husband heard both sermons from the front porch. If you were inside you weren't bothered with the sound though. You leave the front porch, turn right, walk about block down and end up at the shuffleboard courts. It is crazy close to everything, but still quiet. This was also our first VRBO (and we have used it several times and used another site) where the owner reached out ahead to let us know what was currently going on with the house, what to expect, etc. We were on our way up and there was a huge storm that swept through. The owner used her contacts to find out ahead of time what we were in for. Then the owner dropped off extra flashlights and cleaned up backyard tree debri from the storm. The communication was very open. If we had a question she welcomed it. And even thought ahead of things we didn't even think to ask, like how to turn on the heat (even though there are instructions there if you needed). This was all positive communication, not intrusive. I am one of those people who read the reviews and agonizes over what to pick. Pick this. Then you can write the same review you just read. :0) You'll be very happy here.

We had a wonderful experience staying at Camp Scheerer! The kids didn't want to leave and we plan to be back next year if everything works out. The place was clean and there were plenty of books and games for our kids (5 kids - ages 8yrs and under) to look at in between activities at Lakeside. The walk to Lakeside was incredibly short and made it easy to get back and forth whenever we needed. Highly recommended!

The communication with Mike and Kathy was seamless. We had a wonderful stay at their home and enjoyed discovering the Lakeside area. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for a nice, clean, and conveniently located property.

We loved the cottage and the location. Had great communication with owner. Answered our questions quickly. Even though kitchen is small we were able to cook great evening meals with our family. Air conditioning in all the bedrooms and dining rooms very much appreciated.

My family rented this cottage for Memorial Day weekend and were so happy with its location and amazing front porch! Cozy living room, if u actually sit inside:) Kitchen was small but I was able to make some meals for the family without a problem. It is a block away from the park and downtown which is so convenient if u have kids. Kathy was amazing to work with and quick to answer any questions we had. It’s a great choice for a relaxing getaway!

This cottage was everything we wanted during our Lighthouse Festival weekend! It was super clean, updated and the location was great. We only had five people staying this time but it would have fit a lot more comfortably. The owners were great and responded to questions very quickly. We would love to stay at this cottage again!
