I booked this for 40 people for a team retreat and Lisa was phenomenal. Upon arrival Lisa checked us in, showed us the property, and made sure we knew where everything was and were comfortable. I look forward to booking this location for our next retreat!

We held a family reunion here for about 40 people. It was big enough for everyone to have privacy when needed. We spent most of our time in the community room and pool. there was so much to do at the property, we never left it. Next time, we'll have to stay longer and explore the area!! We had some minor issues, but the property manager address them promptly. Definitely would come back and do more exploring!!

Very unique property that allowed our friends to have a great time and create so many new memories. The onsite property manager was fantastic and helped out group with anything that was needed.

Communication was really good with the owner! She answered questions quickly and allowed us access to the property to eat lunch before the rooms were ready. For the space however, our expectations weren't proportionate to the pictures provided. It was fine for what we needed.

We all (28 of us) enjoyed our stay. The large gather spaces and pool were fantastic. It is really a unique property with a lot of history. Another review I read before visiting stated that if you are in a camping mindset, the place is fantastic. I would concur with that description. My family wanted to rebook for next year as we were departing.

We had a great time. Loved the location and pool. Rooms were spacious. Common room was not that cleanly and needs tlc. Overall great experience.

The property worked well for our family reunion of 68 people for a week although some of the families had to stay off sight. the pavilion is very large and gives a great space to get out of the rain or sun. The best part of the site was the pool. The kids swam everyday. It would be nice if the pool was heated a bit as it was very cold getting in. Some of the things that could be better are another air conditioner in the meeting room as it gets very, very hot during the day. Screen doors on the meeting room would also help so you could open the doors to get a breeze at night without all the bugs coming inside. The playground needs a major update as most of the play structures are metal and very old. A highlight was Lisa, the manager, who is always onsite (lives next door) and is wonderful. A text to her and she was there to help. Final hint: make sure to bring bug spray and citronella candles as it is in the woods and the bugs are bad.

Cowboy Creek is not The Ritz, but it is a huge, clean, and totally unique place to stay with a big group. The common area was perfect for making and feeding meals for our group of 35 people. The whole property is very private and fun to wander. You will definitely not stay in another place like this - an abandoned fake western town. It's great fun! Shoutout to Lisa who was very accommodating and helpful whenever we needed anything.

What a great experience! I had a group of about 13 guys for a bachelor party. The place is MUCH bigger than the photos suggest. We each had our own room and could all easily fit in the giant bar/community room. We could listen to music, enjoy a campfire, and grill outdoors on the property. There is no noise curfew and plenty of space for any get together. Lisa took great care of us the entire time. She is a rock star! There were a few issues and she handled them quickly and professionally. She even brought us about 2 dozen eggs from the chickens in the petting zoo for breakfast! The only missing star for "cleanliness" was because the summer has just started and they had a few bugs to clean up when we got there. There was also a bit of leftover food in the fridge and dishes but Lisa cleaned them up quickly after we arrived. In summary, I'd give this place and management a 10 out of 10.... would love to stay again,

We had a wonderful stay at Cowboy Creek Lodge. We had 18 adults and 12 children. There was more than enough room for everyone. The grounds are vast and can be roamed at all hours. Clean pool, clean rooms, tons of space. Will be returning for another large group gathering

The community room was wonderful for us to gather serve meals and prepare meals and play games and cards together no matter the weather. Being able to escape to our own rooms when we needed space was very comfortable. The rooms were very clean. The pool and the playground was the favorites.

Ignore the few bad reviews, this place was perfect for our family reunion!! Each of the rooms were great and with all the indoor and outdoor spaces to gather and hang out it was perfect for exactly what we wanted, tons of family time! We had a large range of ages and everyone loved the pool, fire pits, common room, etc! It was perfect with some connecting rooms, some had different arrangements in bed sizes/types so it worked out great with all the families. With the unpredictable weather the common room was great for the rainy times but the outdoor stuff was wonderful for everyone to have plenty of space for hanging out, yard games, hanging out by the fire pits at night, etc. Definitely recommend this for a family reunion or anytime you have a large group and want a lot of space, it was so great having the entire property to ourselves!

We booked the entire property everything was great we had a blast. The owners we very prompt and friendly. Definitely we visit again.

Our large family rented the entire facility for a much anticipated reunion. Since we had family coming from everywhere, it was conveniently accessible from the freeway and airport. The rooms are quaint and rustic. The grounds were great and the pool was a real plus. It’s kitschy and fun and the hosts were very helpful and patient.

Management was great and receptive - loved the look of the place and everyone had such a great time! It’s a must book!

Our family enjoyed being together however, this place is pretty rustic, cluttered, dirty and in need of repairs. The bedrooms were reasonably clean but we had rented the whole place and made clear that we would be using the kitchen and gathering room for meals/hanging out. When we arrived there were dirty dishes in the kitchen, dishwasher wasn't emptied, the fridge was still full of someone else's food/leftovers and the gathering room counters had a lot of random 'junk' . We arrived an hour after checkin so there was no excuse for things not being ready. We ended up having to clean things ourselves to make it useable.

Worked out wonderful for a wedding weekend. Rooms nice. Nice pavilion and huge community room with a full kitchen. Easily accommodated 50 people for a meal. Staff responded in a timely manner. Thanks for sharing your wonderful place!

We had a our bachelor/bachelorette party here Thursday-Sunday and it was accommodating for all 40+ guests we had. A staff member of the property, Tom, was very sweet and helpful with anything we needed. Overall, we had a really nice time and would recommend the property to those who just want to hang out by the fire or chill by the pool.

We had a great time at this “rustic” resort! Great place for a laid back gathering.

If you want a place that is squeaky clean and new this is NOT the place for you. However, if you don't mind a little dust and clutter this place is OK. The rooms were mostly clean, with the exception of one set of sheets that had clearly not been washed. When we brought it to the attention of the onsite manager she was able to change them. The carpets in the room were old and ragged and stained. The gathering room was nice to have, but it was cluttered and the floor is dirty. The kitchen floor was VERY dirty but we cleaned it then it was fine. The pool was VERY nice! We did have a lot of fun in the pool. The grounds were fun to walk around. The kids loved the goats and horses. I don't recommend renting it over a weekend when the when the grounds are open to the public and there is a gunfight every 2 hours.

Initially we wanted to back out of this rental after visiting it however having said that - we had a family of 30 and this property was perfect for our family reunion. To have a common area as well as a pool was just perfect to maximize our togetherness. Tom and the cleaning lady were very nice to work with as well. If you keep in mind a camping type atmosphere you will have a wonderful time .

I went with my Girl Scout troop and their families. It was perfect for what we needed! The rooms were clean and the property was really neat. We loved Tom, the caretaker on site!

We spent two days here for our company offsite. Having a common area for us to have meals together and to socialize was very nice, though the kitchen is kind of small. Fortunately, we came prepared with extra Instant Pots and a toaster oven so we could cook for our group. Our visit coincided with an extremely cold polar vortex - temps at 12 to 15 below zero. Tom was very helpful to us in helping to keep the water running (pipes froze at a nearby resort) and heat going. Because of the weather, we spent the entirety of our time either in the common room or in our bedrooms, so I can't speak to other amenities. The internet was pretty slow, so download your digital assets ahead of time if that's important to you. Be prepared for an experience that is more rustic than luxurious and you'll have a great time.

The Good: (1) The rooms were as advertised. Very clean, cutely decorated to theme with attention to details. (2) The "community room" was very convenient for our extended family of 20+ to use for preparing meals, playing cards, etc. The Bad: (1) There was no onsite management at all. We were greeted by a pseudo-manager at check-in. She provided her # and told us she was our contact and that she lived an hour away from the motel (and was very busy) . Why is that an issue? Because of 2, 3, & 4 (2) The room doors lock automatically. We were provided ONE key per room. That meant that somebody from each room had to make sure to have the room key each & every time the room was stepped out of. When (as inevitably happens when 14 rooms are rented) somebody locked themselves out of the room...we were to call the contact an hour away. Fortunately this happened minimally because we were all family and could just loop the key lanyard around the door handles. If sharing motel with others...that's not an option. Additionally, if members of the same room wanted to split up and go in opposite directions, there's the issue of who's going to be able to access the room & when. HORRIBLE SYSTEM that can be easily rectified. (2) The community room cleanliness was unacceptable - considerable amount of dirt & dead bugs in window frames, etc. Additionally, there's ONE small window to ventilate the entire room. One small fan was provided. No air conditioning As we were told, opening the unscreened doors on either end of the room only results in attracting an enormous of flies. We tested that theory because the room was so hot. Theory confirmed. So we purchased (at our own expense) 2 fans to attempt to move some air. It wasn't sufficient. (3) We booked 3 night stay. 2 towels per person were provided. I phoned contact on day 2 to inform her that we would need fresh towels as there weren't enough provided. On morning of day 3 we were instructed to bring our towels to her. No big deal. When asked when new towels would be available we were told, "you'll just have to come find me" Really? No...that's not ok. So we were provided clean towels immediately. (4) Additional issues of televisions not working (I was told WE might need to take a look at the connections because manager didn't know how to hook them up), insufficient toilet paper, etc. Most of these wouldn't have been an issue if there had been somebody available to address them.

Cowboy Creek was a perfect location for our large bachelorette party. We had around 20 girls stay there at the end of June. The rooms were clean, cute, and comfortable. The community room was large and perfect for all of our needs. We did not partake in the pool, but enjoyed wandering around the grounds and seeing the full layout. Sheila was our contact on the property, and met every need we had. She even met our group halfway the next day to return a lost license and debit card. All in all, it was a great place for a large group and I would definitely recommend booking for any large get together or party.

We just left. Went during the off season. We really didnt know what to expect. We got lucky with some beautiful weekend weather in February, stayed around °65. The staffl.... Great! and were wonderful to be around. This place was so cool. I really felt like I was in a old western town, then at night had the newley remodeled room to go back to. I cant say enough about this place. They are getting ready for this coming summer so they were working at it all weekend, but were so curtious and respectful to make sure they weren't being too loud or in the way of our stay. (Which we never noticed unless we wanted to snoop in and check out what they were doing). They still got some work ahead for the upcoming months, but I'm giving this a 5 star rating as it is now, so i cant even imagine how great its gonna be when its all ready for the coming months. Great stay for me and my fiance. When we come back in the summer we will bring our kid because we know how much fun he will have! The bonfire pits are great as well, I'm big on camping, so it was nice to have that camping feel and scenery, then heading into our room at night. Lots of unique places in the area to go check out. Great western-like feel to the whole place. Can't wait to plan larger family getaways there. Minutes away from MIS, fishing, hiking trails. Really not too far from busier shopping areas too! We stayed during the off season so our rate was even better than expected. Plus it was really nice to be in the area while it was quiter and less busy. But we both can't wait to stay again during the busy season and enjoy all the outdoor activities. The very friendly staff got us pretty excited about their old western shootouts and hay rides and haunted train-car and haunted rooms all during October, too! Can't wait! The staff shared how the new owners (since 2013 I think) have really been doing an awesome job with some enhancements and upkeep and it shows. If you're looking for a great place to unwind, and maybe even start your own bonfire out back (I think we counted six different fire pits), you just found it. Nice but down-to-earth. Clean. Already looking forward to next time.
