This Pine Creek cabin was perfect for our family weekend: unique architecture, a beautiful setting, and plenty of room for all of us to spread out. Convenient to the Pine Creek Rail Trail -- a beautiful spot for our bike ride -- and to the local bike rental. Not too far from downtown Wellsboro. The house itself was well-equipped, clean and comfortable. Thanks for a great stay!

This property was excellent for our large group of fisherman. The owner communicated woth us whenever we needed anything. Cabin is absolutely beautiful. The cabin is going through some renavations on the outside, and luckily we brought a truck load of fire wood for the fire pit because there was none there but we knew that could be a possibility. If your looking for wildlife there was plenty between turkey, deer and coyotes. Are group is looking forward to booking again next year.

This property provided a wonderful opportunity to gather with family and friends for the weekend. The unique architecture and space allowed for great fireside talks and meals in the open dining/living area. As advertised the sleeping space is ample and our group was very comfortable and able to spread out after a long weekend hiking the laurels and ridges in Potter county. Looking forward to coming back next year!

To say this was our fourth consecutive stay at the Octagon is the easiest endorsement I can give to the amazing cabin, property, and hospitality of Joe and Maitland. The mountain trails, peaceful flow of the Pine Creek, generously sized fire pit, and ample cabin space make this an excellent location for our combined family and friends trip each Autumn. A short drive from the historic county seat in Wellsboro, the property is a welcome retreat for us each year - we are already planning our return in 2024.

My group had a great time on the property. It was a great bang for our buck and we had plenty of space so that we all felt comfortable. We hope to be back in the future!

We enjoyed our stay. The grounds were well maintained, area is beautiful. The game room has some issues, couches in main cabin need some serious TLC, and the main staircase needs to be redesigned (external staircase is a workaround, but that cannot the primary means of reaching upper floor.). Kitchen works well enough, bathrooms were clean and ac works great.

The house was nice. Didn't like the fact that the upstairs bathrooms were open above the doors. The portable air conditioners that are upstairs only one of them was working so it was hot up there. It says remote location but there is a house right at the end of the driveway that looks directly onto the house and property. While we were there they came to mow the grass. That should have been scheduled when no one was renting the house. We had to move everything out of the yard so he could mow.

The property is beautiful but the house overall could use some TLC. It was wonderful having wood on the property to use in the fire pit. The game room was a bit musty. The Kuerig coffee pot did not work. Most of the dishes needed to be washed before using. Overall we enjoyed our stay. It is a short distance to the bike trail which is very convenient.

Four generations of our came together for a family celebration and had a fantastic time! As stated in other reviews, the stairway inside the cabin is not easily maneuvered, but the outside stairway to the second floor provided an easy solution to accessing the bedroom level. The property provides access to a beautiful stream, and we enjoyed hours of fishing at the pond and sitting around a fire at the enormous fire pit.

The cabin has a lovely center fireplace. It is very much set up for a family, as there are no ceilings on the circular upper level. We stayed during cold spell & there is no heat in the upstairs bathrooms! Otherwise we enjoyed our time & the views of the creek are very soothing.

I thought the house was bigger than what it really was. We would have liked the pond to be swimmable. It wasn't easy getting to the creek for fishing and creek walking. We did enjoy seeing the deer and bear eating from the apple trees.

We loved the property and quietness! Our two toddlers got to run around and enjoy so much outdoor space. Some things need to be updated in the house but overall, we enjoyed ourselves.

We antipated a great experience on a beautiful property and those expectations were blown away. I can't imagine a finer location for its natural beuaty, serenity, and quality of the lodging,. You'd be crazy to look elsewhere!

It’s a great property. Lots to do in the area. Relaxing and fun times can be had on the property. We had a great outdoor fire every night. Kids played kick ball. Rode bikes. Hiked. We went swimming. The owner told us of a great swimming hole. We had a great dad kid adventure week. We loved it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the octagonal cabin at Pine Creek Farms. The property offered so much to do for our three generational family! We particularly enjoyed fishing in the pond, spending the evening around the fire pit and star gazing. We enjoyed seeing all sorts of wildlife, including a black bear, foxes, deer, etc. The cabin is so unique and well taken care of! It was plenty of space and then some for our 7 travelers. Joe and Maitland are great hosts! They shared lots of information on the property and surrounding area that helped us maximize our enjoyment from day one. Thank you for a great stay! We would definitely like to rent again.

500 acres. Private. Backed up to pristine trout waters of Pine Creek. Had a small and lively bass pond on property. Great hiking on property. The only negative is the very steep spiral staircase from first to second floor. Navigating these stairs This would be greatly improved with an additional handrail to make coming down easier.

Our group had a wonderful long weekend. Our goal was a relaxed weekend just enjoying each others company and this property fit the bill perfectly. We hardly left the property but spent hours fishing, hiking, riding bicycles and bird and wildlife watching. The room to roam was very nice as we took advantage of nearly perfect weather. The property was exactly as described, clean and everything worked well. Absolutely no complaints or problems of any kind. We definitely hope to come back!

My teen children enjoyed the unique house. It was clean and comfortable. The best places to go for shopping/eating are about 25 minutes away. Very quiet, peaceful. Close to the PA Grand Canyon and Cherry Springs. Also, an easy drive to Corning Museum of Glass!

What a great place to gather with family. So much room inside and out to play and enjoy one another! Don’t forget to remind the kiddos to stay away from the cliff headed to the creek!

Had a lovely time with my family. The cabin was bigger than expected, clean, and comfy, and the detached game barn was a huge bonus. Few properties have an indoor working fireplace so when we had a snow, we had a cozy day inside with games, coloring, cooking in the kitchen and a fire in the hearth. Love the huge dining table inside for games and meals. The stairs inside ARE a bit challenging but we were forewarned, and the outside staircase is an easy alternative. Loved having a full kitchen, a laundry/coat room, three bathrooms and plenty of bedroom space. The bedrooms and upstairs bathrooms are open at the top, but we also knew this going in so it was not a problem for us, but might be if you require more privacy/quiet in the bedrooms. So much quiet and lots of opportunities to have fun inside and out. I highly recommend, and look forward to returning to this property.

Such a unique home, at first it appeared small but there were 10 of us, 8 adults and 2 children and we had plenty of room in the house! Snow was on the ground the weekend we were there, and we opted to use the fireplace instead of the outdoor fire pit. Such a cozy evening we had with the fireplace going. We spent time playing board games, talking and took a side trip into town to shop. Eat at 'The Steakhouse' in Wellsboro you'll enjoy it! What a lovely weekend we shared with family at the Octagon in the Woods! So happy we picked there to stay!

Found The Octagon at Pine Creek Farms and booked for MLK weekend with three other couples. Impressed with the acreage of the grounds and unique architecture of The Octagon. Each couple had their own room, with one taking a bunk bed room. (would highly recommend paying the extra charge for the locked, 4th queen room) After purchasing some local, seasoned wood, we proceeded to spend our indoor time around the unique fireplace playing games, enjoying libations and engaging in delightful conversation. Checked out the additional building with the game room supplied with another sleeping area, pool table, foosball table and dart board. Seated right along a stream, the sounds of the water were always welcome when making a trip outside to take in the mountain view or stars at night. In case anyone wonders...yes, it is cold in Gaines this time of year so we would love booking this property in the warmer seasons to enjoy more hiking, visiting nearby attractions and sitting around the beautiful fire pit outside. We stopped in Wellsboro on the way up and found a quaint, interesting town with lots of dining / shopping options. Surprisingly good connectivity for watching the NFL playoff games and streaming some episodes of Yellowstone on the flat screen. Wifi for cell phones and reception were very good. I would recommend this listing to anyone and I know myself and my friends are already looking to plan a return trip in the future. Stayed over New Years with some friends. We had 5 people total. The cabin and land was absolutely beautiful. The pictures don’t even do it justice!

If you want to get away, this is the place! The cabin is lovely! My family spent Christmas there and we were so appreciative that the owners, Joe and Maitland decorated the property with holiday lights, which made the cabin feel really special! We even got a dusting of snow! The cabin is beautiful and there is a lot to explore on the property, we took lots of walks to see the beauty of the acreage, complete with water just down the embankment, about 20 feet away! The sounds of the water completed the peacefulness that we felt at this home! We even caught some deer and fox in the early morning ❤️ The fireplace is magical and can be seen from almost every angle of the downstairs and we all had a great time reconnecting with each other in the game room. The kids and my husband are already wanting to come back in the Spring for fishing! Thanks so much, Joe and Maitland!

For our second trip to Gaines, PA, we were filled with expectation and anticipation of a great weekend in the cabin, game room, and 500+ acres to continue to explore. The amenities are perfect for our family/friends group who spent time on Pine Creek, the pond, the trails, and the fire pit. We are already planning next years trip. Thank you Joe and Maitland
