Wonderful home with an amazing view. Can’t wait to revisit!

We had a wonderful stay. Grand view, lovely house, extremely accommodating owner. Beds are comfortable. House was very clean. No musty smells. We highly recommend this property.

This cabin is amazing. It is spacious, very clean, well decorated, and is by far the most well-stocked place we have ever rented. The owner’s personal touches (favorite books, family photos, etc.) made us feel like we were staying at a relative’s house. And I cannot say enough about the breathtaking view. We will definitely be returning to this place. And George was awesome to work with. Communication was excellent. It was the best weekend get away we’ve ever had.

Spectacular views with a mood lighting screened porch where we enjoyed the wind and sound of crickets . Abundance of towels , toiletries , kitchen condiments with board games and a big fireplace with wood provided. Plentiful seating for the whole family to lounge and walking in surrounding woods viewing wildlife. The chimnea on the second deck was a great place for making smores while watching the sunsets. We will choose this property again. One of our family members was quite taken with the outdoor shower with hot water. We texted the owner to ask a couple questions and he got back to us immediately. We were impressed at the books and games and had a fun time as a family

Great sunset view across the valley. Cabin is very clean, but is lacking updated decor and furnishings. And it is missing the small amenities we usually find in other rentals… e.g. a Kuerig machine, but no coffee. If you want clean basic house with ample space and a great Mountain View, it’s a fine option for a stay in Monteagle/ Sewanee area.

Very relaxing great location

In for a quick weekend dropping off at Sewanee, The School of the South! Conveniently located near the school for the multiple trips back and forth, good good restaurants and easy access to the interstate. The view was exactly what you need to recharge after a busy day! Instructions were easy to follow. Check-in/out very simple!

My friends and I had a terrific stay at George's property. The home was immaculate, and the view is unsurpassed. We had a great time hanging out in the covered porch, the open deck and the living room. Shenanigan's is a skip and a jump and always a bonus. Thanks for the strong communication and going the extra mile for us.

We enjoyed our weekend here. Very clean. Beautiful overlook. Very quiet. Everything worked and instructions were clear. Nice owners. About 10 minutes to central campus.

Our family of six had a great stay here. The house was clean and comfortable. The view out the back deck is incredible. There are some great hikes in the area. If you want a slower and quieter option from Pigeon Forge area, there’s plenty here for you if you like to hike and enjoy nature. A couple reviewers mentioned that the third bedroom in the basement is not ideal. Our teenage daughters did fine down there but we would agree that it wasn’t the most pleasant room to stay in. If you only need two bedrooms, this place will be perfect for you!

the star of this little Sewanee jewel is the bluff view. Birds, bees, and the distant lowing of cows is about all you’ll hear. This much loved family home offers incredible privacy, comfort, and is a short car ride to st. Andrew’s and the University of the South. We absolutely hated to leave it! YSR!

Me and 4 other business partners needed a place to focus on a project and this was perfect! So many areas to work and find inspiration. The owner could not have been more accommodating either. The house was better stocked than any VRBO I’ve stayed. The views were incredible from the house and you truly felt secluded. It didn’t take long to get to town though. Mountain Goat Market is a must eat place to go! Lots of hiking near by. Would stay here again for sure!

Property is quiet, tucked away down a windy road. The house is perfectly appointed and the views from the porch are spectacular. We were in town for a wedding at Sewanee and the location was not far from campus. There was an issue that came up with our group but George could not have been more gracious and helpful to us. Highly recommend this property. Enjoy!

This property, ten minutes from the University of the South (Sewanee), has unparalleled views of the Sewanee Valley from the crest of the bluff. The screened porch with porch swing and other seating, is perfect for enjoying this. There are plenty of nature hiking trails, for all levels of fitness, nearby. The kitchen is well equipped, a real benefit, as there are not a lot of restaurants nearby. If that's your thing, Monteagle is not far away. Chatanooga is an hour away, and Nashville is an hour and a half. The place could probably use a renovation, as the jetted tub doesn't jet, and a lot of the screens were torn. Overall, a great place for two couples to enjoy the foothills.

Beautiful, isolated property with spectacular views. Sitting on a bluff overlooking lush green farmland with mountains in the distance. Unfortunately, we did not get to hike as planned because of almost constant rain or fog. The cozy house with 100's of CDs made it easy to snuggle in. My only concern was a faint animal odor upon entering that I became nose-blind to fairly quickly.

Enjoyed the home and the view. Couldn't ask for a better experience. Will stay again.

Charming and comfortable.

The views and coziness of the place are wonderful. I do have to say, though, that we thought we’d be able to use 3 bedrooms for our family, but that didn’t work out. There are two bedrooms on the main floor along with the living areas, kitchen, and two full baths. The third bedroom downstairs is essentially in the basement, down a very narrow spiral staircase with tiny steps and into the storage basement. Off of that is the third bedroom with fluorescent lighting and a cow belly bed and twin bed. My teenage daughter thought it was too creepy to stay there, and my 79 year old mom did not feel stable to walk up and down those stairs. So my daughter slept on the couch. If we’d known, we’d have chosen another place. If you only need two bedrooms, it’s a great place to stay. Cozy, warm, beautiful view, lovely area.

This is a nice property - with a tremendous view. It is a bit far from Monteagle and Sewanee with a farther drive in than we anticipated. The 1500 square ft house is delightful and the screened in porch is wonderful - with a swing. We noticed that the house had been renovated in recent years - it still needs repair of some furniture, screens and other minor things. The owner is remarkably responsive and helpful. We had hoped to have our daughter and children or others come, but it is really too small for a larger group; but wonderful for two. If the downstairs (2 beds) is to be used, a small bathroom addition would be welcomed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time on "the Mountain", and Bairnwick II provided a perfect home base for our Sewanee Family Weekend activities. The home is very well appointed, and the view can't be beat! Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.

We visited Sewanee for two important family birthday celebrations and met good friends that we don't get to see often enough. What a restful stay with the most incredible view of Roark's Cove! The perfect place for porch sitting with a cocktail and good friends. Great comfortable beds and everything we needed. We'll definitely come again!

We had an unspeakably magical time at Bairnwick Too for my graduation weekend. The views were amazing, the space was comfortable and roomy, and George was a great host. I hope to stay here again next time I'm on the Mountain.

Our family celebrated our daughter’s graduation from Sewanee. This home represents all that Sewanee is- a community. We are thankful to have enjoyed this bluff view home which in itself holds the history of Sewanee!
