This place is every bit as great as it sounds and looks, and then some. We really enjoyed it for 2 weeks with our 2 little boys. I don't have much to add to all the rave reviews, but I'll say that we really appreciated the gate... made it much less stressful to not have to think about kids running out into the street. Property and house are beautiful. Kitchen has basic dishes for meals. Host is helpful and responsive. Just one block from beach access lane. Beach lane is about a block long. Beach is beautiful. Perfect for long walks or swimming. Our daughter enjoyed using the boogie board, and beach chairs with shoulder straps are a plus. Perfect location close to the beach and town. We had a wonderful time. Would gladly stay here again.

We have never stayed in Kailua before and loved the town. Many conveniences, places to eat and shopping. The house was a block away from beach access and there was a lot of stuff to use at the beach. It's a great beach for body boarding and walking. The house can get a little hot in the afternoon, I would rent the AC unit for sleeping but the outdoor space with the hammock and shower is awesome. It feels very private and comfortable.

This house is ideally situated a block from Kalama Beach Park, on the quieter end of Kailua Beach. The house was quite hot during our August stay, so for summer stays you should consider renting the portable AC unit that is available at least for late summer stays (it is not included in the rental price, which I had not understood from the listing). The house is on a very quiet lot, shielded from most neighbors, but be aware that you are in a residential neighborhood and there may be noise; the next-door neighbors were hosting family and friends for a wedding so they had a few loud late night parties (“late” in Kailua is until 10:30/11). The house is amazingly well equipped - kitchen stuff, towels, toys, chairs, and boogie/foamy surf board. The outdoor seating and grill are wonderful, as is the outdoor shower. We loved staying here. Only real complaint is the internet service, which was out for a few days. This is typical of Kailua and likely not in the owners’ control, but a nuisance to be aware of nonetheless. Katie the manager is very responsive. Stay here to really feel like you are a Kailua resident. Mahalo!!!

We were so happy with the house! Beautiful and secluded property only a block from the beach. The house had everything we needed and Katie was easy to reach if we needed something. Would definitely stay there again!

Katie was wonderful to work with, she was very attentive and helpful. The house was exactly like the pictures posted. It had EVERYTHING you could possibly need! We cooked almost everyday and the kitchen was stocked with all the pots, pans, dishes and silverware that you may need. The grocery store, Target and other restaurants were only 5-10 minutes away which was a plus! The outdoor shower was my husband’s favorite and said he wanted to install one at our home, lol. The only downside to this property is not having air conditioning. It got really warm in the house during the day (I will say it was hotter than usual during the first week of our stay, the last 4 days of our vacation was much better). We did rent the portable air conditioning unit and left it in our bedroom because it just wasn’t big enough to cool the main living space. This was a great option offered by the property owner. Overall, I would definitely stay in the wonderful little hideaway again. Thank you Katie for your hospitality 🌺

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Katie is an excellent, responsive manager and was easy to communicate with at all times. The house is well stocked, the beds are comfortable and the location is superb. We enjoyed the residential feel of the neighborhood and the house is well situated for privacy. A two block walk puts you on the beach, making multiple daily swims easy, and a 15 minute stroll puts you in the heart of Kailua. We also rented bikes which allowed us to quickly bike into town for any necessities as well as explore the area, including a few trips to nearby Lanikai Beach. We did have a little trouble with wifi a few times -- nothing huge but something to note if consistent, uninterrupted connection is pertinent (remote work or school). Regardless, we'd highly recommend both Katie as a manager and the rental as a place to enjoy and relax.

This property is amazing and exactly if not better than pictured. It was very easy to contact Katie the property owner and she was very open and accommodating. Easy check in and check out process. Will definitely stay here again!

Loved this house, location was primo, home was private, beach was very close. The only drawback to this lovely home was no air conditioning. My trip might have been during the hottest July ever, so it might not always be this hot, but it was stifling. Be prepared! We still loved the house!!

Our family of four loved this house in Kailua! Well furnished and just the right size, the home is in great shape and has everything we could have needed. Location was great, with a short walk down to a quiet, beautiful beach. The manager, Katie, was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Great vacation spot if you like a beautiful long sandy beach , quiet town atmosphere but with all the amenities of grocery shopping and resturants . The house is awesome.

Beautiful home, with everything you need for a great vacation. The beach towels and chairs were such a great touch! We walked to the beach several times a day. The beach is gorgeous. No rocks! Water was perfect. Great place to experience Hawaii!

The house was exceptional so beautiful inside and out so secluded.Loved the location could visit with family with no problem . Close to downtown and the beaches you can walk very easily to. The only problems we had was the neighbor on the leftside at the end of the property was having remodeling done so we had to put up with construction noise.Plus the little ants were somewhat a problem, never left food out they and they were still in the rooms. One block from the quiet beach, not the tourist beach. Wake up, listen to the sea and the morning doves coo, and feel the sunrise through the privacy palms. Coffee on the seriously gorgeous deck, a morning stroll to the beach for either a workout or a boogie board session (supplied at the house!). It's only about a mile into town on the cruisers that the local surf shop delivered, and it was perfection. This home is outfitted with the nicest linens, plenty of kitchenware for meal making, picnic taking and wine drinking. The outdoor shower was like an addiction and the convenience of Katie being so easy to reach for any question we had, was really great. Thank you Katie, for going above and beyond to help accommodate us to be able enjoy our last day on the island boogie boarding into the afternoon and the customer service that you extended. Mahalo, we LOVE the house. If it's ever for sale, I'd wanna live there!

Had a wonderful time in Kailua. Wasn't sure about the no air conditioning when we showed up around 2:30 and it was 90 degrees, but it ended up ok. I would still prefer a little unit in the house when coming back to the house in the afternoon. The mornings and evenings were perfect with the windows open and the fans going. The only problem with that is the rain comes in through the bedroom windows at night when you are sleeping, ha. The outdoor shower was fantastic. The house is well appointed, well kept and looks beautiful. We used the beach towels, beach chairs and big soft-sided cooler everyday. The main issue we had with our stay, had nothing to do with the house, it was the winds. The winds were crazy our entire stay which meant their was a wind advisory for the east coast everyday. While this is not a huge deal in it's self, the winds do bring the Portuguese Man O War's into the beach ( like a jelly fish but not in the same family that stings). Our first day, our 10 year old got stung pretty good in the first 45 minutes and we never returned to swim at Kailua beach again the whole week. We did see an amazing sunrise the next day though. So we spent most of our time on the North shore and at Lanikai. Overall, we had an amazing time and experienced a ton of new things. The island is one of the most beautiful places I've every been with the exception of the traffic and how expensive everything is. One last note about the house, we loved eating breakfast and dinner on the lanai everyday. Enjoy and thanks Katie!

My family and I just returned from a 2 week stay at Hale Kailana. The house was beautiful and the location was great - it’s less than a 10 minute walk to the beach, less than 5 minute drive into town, and very quiet and private since it’s nestled in behind other houses. The Positives: - The outdoor shower was amazing and we used it everyday - The lanai was great for dining al fresco every night - Having laundry facilities was really convenient. There wasn’t a laundry basket when I arrived, but upon asking, Katie brought one the very next day! - The queen beds were really comfortable The Negatives: The only downside is that there’s no air conditioning in the house. There are ceiling fans in every room and with all the windows open, it’s really breezy and not an issue when there are trade winds. But during our 2 week stay, the winds died down and were gone for almost 1.5 weeks, so it got extremely hot and stifling in the house. Our 7-month old daughter had trouble sleeping due to the heat. Other than the no AC, we had a wonderful time!

My colleague and I stayed for five nights while we worked and got a little play in on the side. The cottage is a short walk to Kailua beach, has all the toys you need, and is quiet and peaceful. It was recently remodeled, so all is fresh and bright. Also, Kailua Town and lovely Lanikai beach are close at hand. The caretaker, Katie, was easily accessible. Sit back, relax, and enjoy -- easy to do at this rental.

We loved using this home as a base for exploring Oahu. Katie went above and beyond to meet all of our needs, including a last minute extension of stay and mailing my son's favourite toy back to Australia when we left him behind! The house has everything you need and is very well presented. We especially loved the outdoor shower and didn't even use the indoor one. As advertised, there were fans only and no AC. I was born in Kailua and have not lived in Hawaii for 25 years although we vacation to several islands a year. I wanted to bring my family (wife, 3 year old, 10 month old) to Kailua instead of 'town' (Waikiki/Honolulu). We enjoyed our stay a lot more than we would have in the city. This house has everything we needed (grill, boogie boards, pots/pans, yard for the girls) and most importantly is a 5 minute walk from Kalama Beach Park. We made the walk and beached it at least twice a day and had a cookout with my Grandma, Aunt & cousins who still live there. It was a great vacation for my family & very private with a long driveway. Also can't forget about the outdoor shower (which I used for every shower during our stay). It was just the right size for the 4 of us and as long as the group doesn't grow we'll use this house for our Oahu stays moving forward. Mahalo, Travyn

We were there for almost 2 weeks and we had a wonderful time. The house is a few minutes away, on foot, from Kailua beach (which is long and wide and great for boogie boarding) and about 5 mins away, by car, from Lanikai beach (great for splashing around). The house was very clean and put together. We had everything we needed at the house and we mostly ate in. Both kids (ages 3 & 7) loved running around in the backyard. The outside shower was a total hit! We enjoyed eating on the wide, beautiful deck. The house has a washer & dryer, which both came in very handy. Also, the house is very close to Target, Whole Foods, Safeway, etc. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

We really enjoyed our stay and everything was fantastic but just way too hot in the house. The house needs more than ceiling fans and air conditioning would have been a cherry on top

Loved the privacy from the little drive to the house. Appreciated the plants and the yard; Dad and son played catch there. The indoor/outdoor flow is nice; laundry is covered/private. Basic supplies are on hand, especially use of beach gear which we took advantage of! A beautiful/stunning, soft, long beach is within easy walking distance. It was hard for us to adjust through the no a/c; although gorgeous weather still can get warm inside; small thing but a couple cleaning spots were missed in the bathroom. Still, very warm, inviting and thoughtful and would go back.
