Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was the third time our family has stayed at Helen’s Beach House in Kailua, HI. We have a large family, which is why we have continued to stay at this rental; it is spacious enough to accommodate all of us. However, over the years, we have “sadly” noticed that the house has fallen into disrepair. There were several issues that needed to be fixed since the last time we stayed here that still have not been addressed. Furthermore, with our recent stay, we were not informed about some of the problems with the rental until about 48 hours before our arrival. This is quite disappointing because the rental is in a great location, and the house itself has such potential. Unless necessary work and repairs are made, our family will be looking for another rental house for our next trip. PROS: Great location; each bedroom has its own bathroom; 2 minute walk to beach; private pool; two kitchens and two family rooms; can park 5 cars. CONS: In desperate need of maintenance (lighting, appliances, floors, A/C units, plumbing, pool care, sliding doors [do not safely lock], door handles are corroding, windows: need cleaning and/or replacing, all kitchen cabinets: need a deep and thorough cleaning). Sadly, no pride of ownership.

The house is beautiful. It could use some updates but the good of the whole house makes up for that. We had 12 in our family and it was so big we didn’t feel cramped. I love, love that every room has its own full bathroom. The pool could use some upgrading but again it was perfect for us. It was equipped with everything we needed except, it should have at least 2 sets of bath towels for each person. I have found thee house that I will stay in again and again. The pool and distance tot he beach was incredible - the experience was just, made our vacation better. Also Tristen our host was so easy to communicate with and very thoughtful :)

The swimming pool was a great asset for all of us, especially the children. The weather was very unusually muggy due to the hurricanes passing near our island. However it was real nice to have this beach house for our large family. Kiri, the manager was excellent in showing me around and explained everything about the house. She quickly responded with a plumber to repair a leaking toilet; glad there were other bathrooms in the house.

Not having experienced this type of rental, didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. There were a few items that I found either missing (napkins and inside broom) or in short supply ( paper towels, toilet paper, & dish drying towels) we borrowed from all kitchens to supplement. Also, the small bathroom's shower curtain was dirty and no bathmat. These items seem small, but would have made the experience even better.

The house was perfect for our four families celebrating a milestone birthday. Mornings, afternoons, and evenings spent at the beach (a short walk down the lane and through the private gate) - none of us wanted to leave.
