Everything about this beautiful house is spot on. Great location too! We were really delighted by the detain and privacy of this home. Very thoughtfully done! Being central in grand marais was a lot of fun. No car needed unless we we were out hiking.

Beautiful little house for a nice get away week! My husband skied and I was able to work remotely, it was fantastic to have a monitor available to plug into! Great location, house amenities were five stars!

This was one of the best VRBO stays we’ve had. The house was clean, conveniently located, and beautiful! The fireplace was wonderfully cozy. It had all the amenities we needed including a washer and dryer. The only negative was the gas stove cooks really hot and we had to adjust for that. We’re used to cooking with gas at home so it wasn’t us! All told, we had a great stay!

The house of light was as promised. It was bright, airy and modern. The house had everything we needed for a long weekend stay in Grand Marais and the location in proximity to shops, coffee and the water was just right. My only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer.

We felt like we were on a trip across the ocean( Lake Superior) while staying in a quaint, yet beautiful, home, away from home. We will plan to return in the future, after we save up for the next journey!!

We really enjoyed the light house and it was better than expected. The amenities, the space, the privacy was wonderful. We look forward to the additional space that will be made when the back building is completed. We will rent again and bring additional family members. The garbage is a little inconvenient but we made it work. Overall, this is incredible property.

Beautiful home with perfect location in Grand Marais. We highly recommend this home - there is no detail left out in order to make your stay comfortable. House of light truly is a lovely home to make your stay in Grand Marais that much more pleasurable.

Great location within walking distance of everything. Newer construction home that is artfully placed on a narrow lot so that it takes advantage of natural light while still feeling secluded. Two desk areas that feel like wasted space if you are vacationing but would be great if you wanted to spend a week or two working remotely from an idyllic location. Stayed during high season and Covid so felt kind of expensive considering we had to provide our own linens and pack out our garbage but seems like a steal in the off season.

We have stayed at the House of Light twice and it is a gorgeous property with hand built wood interior and lovely enclosed and private yard. Walk out the door and you are steps from the town of Grand Marais, or hole up and enjoy the peace and quiet. We'll return.

This house is a true modern cabin- private and very relaxing- a special place to stay.

Great location, short walk to downtown, the beach and all the restaurants. Enjoyed the wild raspberries in the courtyard that were just ripening during our stay. The hammock for 2 under the majestic pine trees was also a pleasant surprise. Fantastic accommodations!! Only criticism was having to haul trash all the way to the office in Lutsen for disposal at the end of the stay.

Our 2nd visit and can't wait to return!

The House of Light was just perfect! So clean and just simply beautiful. We could tell the owners thought of everything in the details and craftsmanship of the place. Beautiful house, perfect size and layout, and definitely not lacking in lights! Would 100% stay here again. Kitchen had everything we needed for light food prep, beds were pretty comfortable, hot water was plentiful, and the house was very cozy for our early winter trip. The only thing I found myself missing was a more substantial comforter/duvet on the bed (I prefer sleeping in a cool room with warm covers, and we had to make do with a warm room and cool covers), but next time I will probably just bring my own down duvet. Be sure to read the online welcome book (linked in an email after you make your reservation) for departure instructions to avoid extra fees!

Grand Marais is one of the cutest towns up north. Trails are great and not busy, the colors are absolutely stunning, and the town has everything you need. There are a lot of run down hotels, motels, and vacation homes in the area. This house was absolutely perfect. You can’t get a better location. A block or two from brewery, great restaurants, and small town shops. Which is perfect for quiet streets but still with being close to everything. The house itself is the best. Brand new, beautifully decorated, spotless, everything you need to make food or store it. Comfy beds, good water pressure, and so spacious! The only complaint I would have would be their Roku streaming system. It would fast forward or rewind out of nowhere and would happen a lot. But to honest, that’s Roku being crappy at their steaming service not house itself, so not an issue in the scale of things. I feel bad even mentioning it but it is worth knowing about it. It is higher in the nightly rate range in the area but hands down worth every penny. I would absolutely stay here every time! My fiancé looked at almost every decor item to find out where everything was from cause he liked it so much hahaha Thanks for the great get away!

The House of Light is truly a gem - beautifully designed, immaculately clean, well furnished with what you'll need for the stay, and perfectly located. I don't think I can say too much positive about it, and the only reason I don't want to say more is that everyone else will book it and then we won't be able to. It's a little expensive, but you get what you pay for, and we were just delighted with it from start to finish. Having to take away your own trash is a little bit of a pain, but not enough to bring it down from five stars. Not only did we love it, but we took photos for inspiration because of how beautifully designed it was - just in case we ever build a house of our own.
