The location within the small mountain town was excellent. We arrived during the summer festival and each night the streets were packed with tourists and locals enjoying summer activities. They were all so kind and actively encouraged us to participate. The food was really special and yummy. The staff was also SUPER friendly and so nice to us. They were absolutely wonderful.

The pillows were a little hard. We aren't really used to Japanese style pillows so they were a little uncomfortable to our tastes. Other than that, everything was really charming and wonderful about the ryokan.

Staff was excellent. Very helpful with our limited Japanese. Food was delicious. Every meal was traditional and really good. Nice central location and great value overall.

The facility was a bit tired.

so friendly. delicious meals. Small family run ryokan it is located on the quiet small road in the middle of the 9 Onsens popular to visit and do a stamp rally. it is opposite a hotel that looks like it is from Ghibli’s Spirited Away movie.

Nothing bad, I’d definitely return if I’m am in that area. but be aware it is an older hotel though, but it is clean and comfortable. There are several flights of stairs to rooms and down to dining room and their small Onsen incase you have mobility issues.

The property is right in the heart of Shibu Onsen and even has its own onsen pool in the basement. The staff, while not fluent in English, were very accommodating and used a translator to provide the best experience they could.

Beautiful traditional Ryokan. We loved out stay here and really appreciated the effort the staff went to make us feel welcome. We had booked this accommodation because it was close to Shiga Kogen and weren't aware it is right in the middle of a local hub of onsens, they were amazing and the area was charming. Would absolutely recommend this Ryokan to international visitors, we were blown away by the hospitality off the staff.

Parking was a challenge as we had a hire car but again, the staff were very helpful in showing us where the parking lot was. There is nothing that can be done about the parking due to the historic nature of the area and i gather that most people arrive by bus or train so this wouldn't be an issue for most people.
