This was our family’s fifth trip to Acadia/Bar Harbor. We wanted to stay somewhere that was close to town by also to the major attractions of Acadia. The cottage itself was a perfect size for our family of 4 plus our dog; it was clean and spacious. My kids especially enjoyed watching movies at night on VHS! Amanda was a fantastic host, replying quickly to messages and assisting when needed. An added bonus for those who hike was that the South Ridge trail of Cadillac mountain was just yards away, no need drive anywhere or worry about parking. We’d love to stay here again on our next visit!

We had a wonderful time in this cozy home, which is situated close to the South Ridge Cadillac trail head. We enjoyed breakfasts on the porch and an evening around the fireside in the back yard under a starfilled night sky. Thank you!

The cottage was cute, well stocked with cookware and linens. Good location, close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Appreciated room heaters. The queen bed was not comfortable, suffering from sagging. Corners inhabited by dust bunnies.

Blackwoods cottage was a perfect place to stay for our last stop in Maine. We were within walking distance of hiking trails and had an amazing firepit to relax by. Amanda our host made sure we had everything available to us and answered all my questions promptly. The cabin itself was a perfect maine cabin cozy and comfortable with cute touches. The location was an easy drive to town. Would highly recommend and book again if ever in the area.

Wonderful stay at Blackwoods Cottage. It was charming and thoughtfully decorated with all the comforts we needed. The cottage is centrally located with easy access to Bar Harbor, Acadia and surrounding areas. The host Amanda was great and very helpful. Would highly recommend.
Make sure you hit Thurstons for a tasty lobster roll. Lots of good breakfast places.

My husband, our 2 girls (9 & 5) and our pup stayed for a week at the cottage. It was the perfect setting for our trip. Close to bar harbor & all the sights yet you felt far away from it all. The cottage is adorably decorated, no detail spared. Amanda was great to deal with! We drove up during a hurricane and her communication was fantastic. She even set up some back up supplies. Thankfully we never needed them. Our girls said it was their best vacation yet! We will definitely be back. ❤️

Wonderful stay , our 3rd year with this property, already booked a 4th. Host Amanda is just great! Close to everything you could want. Provides a quiet getaway but a short drive to seal harbor, close to trails and a short drive to bar harbor. Feels like your secluded but still so close

I’d rather sit on the porch of this house in August than any other place and time. We are a retired couple, but I think this house would be perfect for anyone except a family with toddlers—the stairs are steep and there’s no gate at the top. Excellent kitchen, for real cooking.

Blackwoods Cottage was the perfect location for our visit to Acadia National Park ! The location is outstanding, the amenities perfect and the charm of the cottage is so special . The owner Amanda was extremely helpful and we so enjoyed her as well. The Cottage exceeded our expectations !

This is the cutest and coziest vrbo we have ever stayed in. So many tasteful touches make this a cottage a wonderful place to stay. The location in otter creek is perfect, so so quiet, with a small market up the road (good for camping and a quick beer or wine run), and just a 10 minutes drive into bar harbor. Amanda was a fantastic host, she was next door during the time of our stay and was able to quickly help us when my husband, a charcoal purist, couldn’t figure out the gas grill. We highly recommend Blackwoods Cottage and would stay again ourselves.

We absolutely LOVED this darling cottage. It was far enough away from any crowds yet close enough as well. Everything was decorated to perfection and any type of supply was included. Amanda and Dan were EXCEPTIONAL hosts.

Great location, all amenities. Great little cottage close to everything but far from the hustle bustle. The Cadillac mountain trail begins literally just a few yards away which was great for our first day hike. The cottage has all updated appliances which appear in an old style but they’re new, I’ve never seen that before. Added to the charm. The host Amanda, kept us up to date and communicated with us quickly, even turned the heat in for us before we arrived (it was unseasonably cold during our stay in the beginning of June). Would definitely recommend!

Very cute and cozy. Great location. We were there in October and it gets a little cold, but the property does have several space heaters in place. Loved it. Only comment is the shower could use a fresh showerhead.

This was the best place we’ve ever rented to stay! It was perfect for our trip to the area! It was close drive to Bar harbor (less than 10 mins) and close to Acadia! The home had everything we needed for a few meals in, loved the porch and enjoyed the fire pit on cool fall nights! Amanda gave great recommendations and was very welcoming! we will definitely be planning a trip back to this cottage in the future!

Locating this place after a long dark rainy drive was a bit challenging because of a gps issue but we were so pleased with the charming cottage that welcomed us with a large porch and cozy interior. We stayed 4 nights enjoying separate rooms and great space to cook, dine and relax. If you are a hiker this location is within walking distance of great trails without having to get in your car. It also is near so many sites without staying with all the crowds.
Be aware, the only bathroom is on the second floor, even though it was a climb each time, this was our favorite stay on a 15 day road trip.

My husband and I were so charmed by this little cottage! Beautiful hardwood floors, comfy couch and beds, and little Maine-related touches everywhere. It was the perfect location for exploring both sides of Mount Desert Island - we could drive into Bar Harbor or head over to Northeast Harbor just as easily. Amanda was a fantastic host, and she went above and beyond to fix an issue that arose through no fault of her own. Highly recommend Blackwoods Cottage!

This is a fantastic cottage in a great location for exploring MDI and Acadia. Not in the middle of the Bar Harbor crowds- which we liked- but centrally located for easy access to trails and beaches. Amanda was a perfect host. We will stay again!

Quiet Cottage with Character
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Blackwoods Cottage. Only 10 minutes from downtown Bar Harbor, we got a nice balance between quiet and access to shops and restaurants. We loved the character of the cottage and only wish we'd had more time at the cottage to go through all the local/New England themed books and games.

Adorable cottage in a great location!!!
This was our first visit to the area and this adorable cottage just made the trip even better. Amanda was so incredibly helpful and suggested some amazing places to grab a meal. We had days full of activity in Acadia and all around the Island. It was easy to check in and the cottage had everything we could have needed. When we make the trip back up we definitely be staying here again.

Charm abounds at Blavkwoods Cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed Blackwoods for our visit to Acadia. Great location and wonderful spot to relax when taking a break from the Park. Would choose it again and again for return visits. Amanda makes it so easy to feel settled right away. A family of five who doesn’t mind sharing a bathroom would feel right at home. It is convenient to everything but far enough away from the action to be restful and stress-free.

A wonderful cottage!
We loved our stay at the ottercreek cottage. When we teturn we will likely stay again. I gave 4 stars for a couple of reasons. It is way too dark. Inside the cottage. Also, no coffee, no ice..., nor shampoo. These are the little extras which distinguish really good from spectacular.

We enjoyed our stay at this nice house with a great location near Acadia’s hiking and beautiful scenery. We especially liked the yard! Would note that if anyone has mobility issues (or a scared pup) the stairs are a bit steep/slick to get up to the bathroom/beds.

Perfect, pet friendly cabin!
This cabin is the PERFECT getaway spot! It is secluded yet centrally located to bar harbor and all the best trails in Acadia. Check in was super easy with the keypad lock and the owner lives right next door and provides her cell phone number if you need any help or have questions. The cabin is rustic yet modern and has everything you need - kitchen is stocked with pans, utensils, etc, laundry, there are space heaters and fans if needed. We even got to bring our dog with us which made it such a great vacation. We couldn't have been happier with our stay and we definitely plan to come back.
