The Junior Suite was fabulous and the hotel is in a great location for the gay area of Berlin. The spa area is a nice space to unwind and relax.

Équipe très reactive et accueillante, nous avons apprécié la baignoire idéale pour prendre un bain a 2, décoration sombre mais cela donne un charme, chambre bien isolée et surtout une literie incroyable. L'hôtel est a 2 pas du métro et il y a de très bons petits restaus italiens a côté.

Nous avons du changer de chambre car la baignoire était très sale malgré ce désagrément l'équipe a très bien géré et nous avons eu une nouvelle chambre très rapidement. Dans la 2eme chambre tout était propre sauf qu'il y avait beaucoup de poussière sur la moquette.

Liked the location, new staff are a huge improvement, new staff on reception are a huge improvement on the previous staff, new management is having a positive affect on the Hotel overall and that deserves to be praised. The cleaners do a great job, the gym equipment was repaired since 2023. The staff have a very difficult job running this hotel and they should be commended for doing a good job. Close to gay village, close to bars restaurants and a huge metro shopping area for Tourists. Very comfortable beds and the cleaners do a great job in this hotel.

I didn't like the new mandatory deposit that's held until checkout. It's €150 and I can understand why it's needed, but as a 6th time guest at the hotel, I think the deposit should be required on a case by case basis. As a returning guest who has been at the hotel 6x times who has never damaged the property, I would recommend returning guests be waved the €150 deposit instead. The breakfast was supposed to start at 7. When I checked at 7, I was told I'd have to wait until 7.30 or later, so I skipped it. The room I was given made extremely loud noises from the drains in the bathroom when the rooms beside mine used the toilet or sink. I missed some sleep some nights because of the noise, but I should have just asked for a different room. There's no kettles anymore, Tea and Coffee facilties have been removed from the rooms. Overall, I didn't let these things bother me. Despite these things, the hotel has hugely improved.

The spa shower was great, reception staff very helpful and nice, WiFi was good, great location in Berlin, very comfortable bed and nice view from the room.

Our room (601) was dusty to the point of setting off our allergies and definitely hadn’t been fully cleaned prior to our stay in there, the robes had a lot of wear and tear, mini-bar fridge didn’t work, air conditioning made a lot of noise. One of the servers in the restaurant was difficult and came across inexperienced and rude with how much he was trying to rush us.

Room was comfortable, heating worked fine especially when it was very cold outside. Room was cleaned to perfection every day and towels replaced as well as shampoo and shower gel. The cleaning staff work very hard and should be commended. Bed was comfortable. The Roof Hot tub was great.

Out 9 nights I only had 4 of them with hot water, no point in having a fantastic shower that produces only cold water. When I asked at reception I was told it can be a problem this time of year. But hot hot water should be the basis of any accommodation stay regardless of the time of year. Breakfast was just ok, Saturday and Sunday was chaotic with breakfast items not being available as they ran out, including Orange juice and yoghurt. Some of the breakfast items didn't go together like hot eggs and cold potato. The clotges storage area was kind of unuseanle, the hangers place above a whb didn't make sense, they were even too high for me to use Their security cold be improved a little, undesirables that weren't staying in the hotel used the facilities upstairs I think they had to get the police to remove them. One morning returning from breakfast a very drunk and high guy left one of the rooms in an agitated state and appeared unpredictable, I felt a little unsafe, there was a smell of narcotics being smoked in the hallway. Personally I don't think I would stay here again for the reasons outlined above.

The best thing about the property was it’s cleanliness. The cleaning crew was top notch.

The rooms are looking worn in need of a freshening. The spa facility was subpar, the steam room didn’t work during my entire 10 day visit. There were never enough towels. The gym doesn’t even have a padded floor or mats to do floor exercises, or music, or enough weights at the lower weight. One machine was broken the entire 10 period I was there. There is no bar. No community area other than the spa, which closes at 10 am.

I liked the location of the property and the free wifi.

The room smelt heavily of smoke and it was overpowering. The room did not feel clean, and the breakfast was not okay. The breakfast had heaps of flies around it and choice of items was limited. I ordered Uber eats one night and upon requesting cutlery, the receptionist told me no go and buy it

I’ll start by saying that the staff was as accommodating as they could be with the seemingly limited resources the company is providing since they have gone under new management. They were very friendly and welcoming, despite the issues I encountered. The room itself was fine. It’s a very dimly lit space, which adds to the sexiness and mystique of the place. But that’s about where the fun ends. SOME OF THE HOTEL GUESTS: I’m sure many were lovely people just looking to be in a comfortable gay-friendly setting. I was traveling alone, and that’s was the allure of staying at The Axel for me—to meet other solo gay travelers as friends or more. THE MASSAGE: I got a very lovely, and fairly priced, massage from André in “Room 614” (their on-site massage suite, which seems to be run independently). It was just the right amount of sensual stimulation without being or feeling like a cheap happy-ending parlor. And the rub down was so good I actually dozed off. I considered going back for another. (Don’t forget to tip your masseur!)

Anyone considering staying here should know what they’re getting into. As listed, it is an adults-only, “hetero-friendly,” basically entirely gay hotel. Straight people, do not stay here — it’s entirely unnecessary, and I don’t think you will be pleased with what you find. (Can’t believe I have to say this, but somehow straights have found their way there in the past.) THE ROOM: Upon entering my room, everything felt damp. I tried adjusting the AC between 5-15° C (40-60° F), but I can assure you it never reached anywhere near those temperatures for my entire 5-night stay. Luckily, it was nice enough outside that opening the window sufficed. There was a huge stain, right next to the bed. In the information they provide upon checkin they claim to charge up to €500 for stains left by hotel guests. So if they charged that person, I’m not sure what they did with the money, because the stain is well and alive in room 209. The refrigerator was leaking, and it provided no space for anything other than the random items it was packed with for purchase. I did manage to store leftover pasta in there one night, and the following night I asked the front desk attendants for a fork, they told me they have none in the entire hotel and I’d have to wait til 7am for the restaurant to open to borrow one. They were nice enough to heat it up the food for me, but I had to find a microwave safe container since they also had no plates. THE HOTEL AMENITIES: The steam room did not work for the entirety of my stay, which is honestly unacceptable. It’s one of the features they tout the loudest, and it did not work at all. The jacuzzi was barely warm, but that was the least of my concerns after what I witnessed in there (more on that below). THE HOTEL GUESTS: As I mentioned before, I’m sure many were lovely people.

The location is unbeatable and the staff was very friendly.

Don’t stay in a room that is adjacent to the stairwell, because sound goes right through that wall. A private party in the restaurant went until 2am featuring hits like a techno version of the chicken dance.

Charging extras after leaving. Minibar consumption which I didn’t use,, local taxes even though it was stated in my booking it was included. This is not first time with me and my other friends. Check your cards after! Boring spa on the top floor. Stains on the carpet in room. The shower door not tight, water came out. Breakfast overpriced. Noisy cleaners

The staff and how they speak to guests is a huge improvement on previous years. Some of the staff who previously worked here who used to insult guests to their face seem to be gone and there are new better mannered staff who go out of their way to help you. I like the Gym and the Jacuzzi and the bed and pillows are very comfortable.

The Jacuzzi doesn't make bubbles but it's still a nice pool. The gym equipment is mostly fine but a couple of attachments could use some repair. New Computers are needed on floors 1 and 2 and the Ethernet Ports and cables need testing and replacing, it's been 2+ years these are broken and need replacing.

no clear door cards to say do not disturb- they had joke versions that were just confusing . the cleaners were constantly opening my door coming into my room. reception staff were a bit spaced out even though nice. quirky and a bit chaotic .
