Great location

Paid 400 for a twin room for two nights without breakfast. Staff were very helpful and friendly in particular the concierges. The room was v clean and spa spacious. Used the pool and steam room - very clean . Location was excellent.

Ordered room service- pizza was a frozen pizza so a bit disappointed with that. Dinner was only ok . Car park was full so had to pay to stay in the public car park for two nights - discounted rate cost 24 pounds for two nights. Apparently the hotel car park is small.

The location was excellent, as was the very convenient on-site parking.

The air-conditioning was broken, and whilst a Dyson fan had been provided it struggled to reduce the heat within the room. The room was fine if not a little bland.

The room was dirty , there were stains all over the walls as if someone had a champagne spray party in there. Toilet had hairs on it and it smelt terrible in the bathroom. My pillow cases were on inside out and I pulled up the bed sheet to find a stained mattress protector. The kettle was also filthy. Poor housekeeping. Breakfast was mediocre. The hotel is quite run down and in need of a Refurb. It was not what I was expecting for a 5 star hotel and the price I paid.

The bathroom was dark ,tiles were chipped,bed base was ripped ,mattress on double bed was very hard to sleep on ,hole in the net curtain ,tv was too small hair dryer needs updated from the 80's ,swimming pool was dirty ,steamroom door was filthy and steam room tiles were broken ,saying that we only stayed in pool with our child for 10 minutes then left after paying,£7,50 for hair nets total waste of time and money.Not up to standard as for the price we paid for our stay.

We were Upgraded to suite on arrival..Great surprise..absolutely fabulous large room ..Decor was beautiful ..Very comfortable and warm.. Staff are so friendly and welcoming great atmosphere in the hotel..everything excellent except breakfast was a big let down...would definitely stay here again 😀

Breakfast was a big let down..no organisation..staff didn't know what they were doing Coffee machines were out of order breakfast cold by the time we sat down..Someone needs to take charge and run the breakfast room properly..would not pay for breakfast here again...😞

Been going to the City Hotel for years ever my children have started staying there great location desk ,bar staff lovely and Charlie night man is so pleasant he’s a credit to the hotel always a smile no matter what he makes the customers all feel special

ask for warm chicken cedar salad and was freezing didn’t complain my fault didn’t want to get the young staff in trouble then released not the young staff fault but the chief just being lazy and the lady in the breakfast area in the morning makes sure she doesn’t make eye contact with you when she’s just put the food out walks away and you know rightly she hears you and other people alls they want is fried eggs it’s very embarrassing

Handy location, pleasant staff, reasonable value with an offer

They said we could only stay in the pool for 45 minutes as it was busy, yet it wasn't busy. I've never experienced this before when staying in a hotel. After 45 mins, he came over and told us to leave. He was civil enough, but it's jobsworthy. We deliberately didn't have breakfast as we've stayed before, and it wasn't great.
