Super friendly front of house. Great location. Great room that looked newly renovated. Great breakfast. I don’t understand the 2* rating, it’s much much better than that. Maybe it’s because they don’t have an elevator that’s all I can think of as it was terrific.

Lovely old building with great character. Tastefully fitted out and generally very comfortable. Our “suite” provided lots of space with a separate sitting room.

This is one of my favourite hotels where we've stayed several times over the years, Our 'Queen Room' had a separate sitting room and a view of the very comfortable garden. Breakfast is best described as magnificent and the staff are always keen to oblige.

Comfortable clean and friendly hotel centrally located. We enjoyed our stay and added an extra night.

The lack of a lift may put some people off

The staff were welcoming, the hotel was beautifully maintained and the homemade breakfast was wonderful value for money. Our room was also perfect - classy and beautifully presented.

We have absolutely no complaints about anything.

A beautiful large old hotel which provided 5 motorcyclists with a great nights sleep and a fine breakfast. No evening meal but there are many many places in Monte-Dore even out of season.

Very well placed hotel. Friendly staff and very clean hotel. Very nice garden if weather had been good. Electric blinds on windows.

No tea or coffee facilities in the room. We were not told about the chance to have afternoon tea in the lounge. Our tiny toilet/ sink had a communal down pipe through it which was Very noisy and disturbed us during the night. Reasonable breakfast, but nothing special for €13.50 Spa nice, although consisted only of a jacuzzi and sauna and a relaxation room, but had to sit around in a too small wet dressing gown and the relaxer chair had a dangerous broken arm.

The Grand Hotel is beautiful and deserving of a higher rating than 2 stars. The hotel has been renovated to a high standard, the owner Mathilde is delightful - so helpful and friendly and the breakfast was superb. We loved the town and would definitely visit and stay at Le Grand Hotel Mont Dore again. Absolutely wonderful. The onsite free parking was a real bonus.

The breakfast choice was very good.

There was no non dairy alternatives for breakfast. I asked if I could have plain eggs but was told no. I asked if there was soya milk for cereal but was told no. I asked for a vegan marg spread but was told no. I asked for non dairy milk for tea but was told no. Also no water bottle in our room or our sons room. No personal shower products in either room other than large dispenser of hand soap.

Comfortable beds and great breakfast spread. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Exceptional presentation and cleanliness.

The toilet in the room was not very well ventilated.

We booked our stay very last minute so we were pleased we were able to secure a room. On arrival we were offered a choice of rooms which was a nice touch, and the room was comfortable and quiet. The on-site car parking is secure and very convenient, and the hotel is well located for exploring the town and the local area. The breakfast with home-made produce was plentiful and delicious, especially the eggs. And the restaurant recommendations were just what we were after, so thank you :)

A beautiful hotel in the centre of town with off street parking. Our room had a huge bath which was very welcome after a cold day on the bike. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast selection was amazing.

This a traditional hotel set in the centre of town. The rooms were comfortable, and breakfast was good. The views from our room overlooked the main street but we weren't disturbed during the night. One thing to be aware of, and this is not a complaint, as it is to be expected in an old building like this, there is no lift. We were on the top floor and the stairs are quite steep. We had no issues but if you have mobility issues I would recommend requesting a room on the lower floors.

One small issue. I know that it saves staff time and costs, but I find that coffee that is served from an automated machine at breakfast is always of poor quality. Others may feel differently, and it really is a small point. If that is the only issue I have you can take it that I would have no issues staying here again if I was in the area.

The hotel doesn’t have an elevator, making it somewhat difficult for older visitors to safely reach the upper floors. N.B.: The hotel makes this very clear on all of their advertising and on their website.
