Maden var virkelig dårlig. Buffeten var begrænset og smagsløs og det mad man kunne købe var ekstremt dårligt og dyrt. De tager enorme overpriser for drikkevarer, ikke engang vand er gratis. Placeringen er dårlig og poolen kræver virkelig en renovering. Vi nåede ikke vores fly fordi det tog manden 45 minutter at tjekke os ud fordi han ikke kunne få kortmaskine til at fungere (selvom vi nævnte dagen inden at vi ville tjekke ud kl.06.00). Ved udlejning skulle vi betale for de drikkevarer vi havde bestilt under buffet. Deres maskine var ikke opladt. Også blev han ved med at ringe til os mens vi sad i taxi på vej til lufthavnen for at sige vi skulle stoppe op og hæve penge (!!!) og give dem til vores chauffør, selvom vi forklarede at vi var forsinket til vores fly pga ham. Vi nåede ikke flyet og måtte betale 800 euro pr person for at komme hjem!

The hotel is beautiful with a great pool, view of the sea and generally friendly staff. We had the half board option and the food was great. The staff at the kids club were also extremely good with kids, and the baby sitting service was fantastic. The local zoo was a 3 minute walk away, and the turtle sanctuary was a 15 minute walk.

Despite the many good things about this hotel, I am sorry to say it was not good value for money. At times the shower water was cold, it was always lukewarm at best. There were quite a few power cuts and the backup generator did not seem to be working properly. There were nights when the power for the whole hotel would go off, I could see lights in other hotels working, but not at Essque Zalu. The physical state of the kids club wasn't great with degrading mats and toys. In addition, there was a small pool there with no gates or railings and it seemed as though it could be an accident waiting to happen (hopefully not). When we first checked into our room, our sheets had stains on them and we had to ask for them to be changed. Speaking of check in, it wasn't till 4pm, and they were scrambling to finish our room at 4:25 pm. That is not a big deal for me, but when you have small kids that are exhausted from travelling, it can become a problem. Finally, the WiFi was not strong in all parts of the hotel and was pretty poor from our room. Generally Essque is a decent hotel, I am not a fussy customer, but when you spend that kind of money there are some basics that you come to expect. It seems as though it just needs to be maintained a little better.

Vi hade en väldigt trevlig vistelse även om vi till en början blev besvikna på standarden på rummet. Hotellet är fint men rummen skulle behöva fräschas upp. Femstjärningt är det inte möjligtvis 4. Buffén var bra både till frukost och middag och det vi beställde från menyn också. jättegoda fruktdrinkar i poolbaren om än lite långsam service. Likaså på kvällarna så var det ganska långsamt. Pole Pole helt enkelt. Tänker att det går att förbättra genom att skapa en bra arbetsmiljö för personalen. Den där killen som bara går runt å frågar om alla har det bra kanske kunde vara till mer nytta! Personalen var överlag väldigt trevliga och den nya managern verkar ha koll på läget och kommer säkert se till att hotellet blir bättre.

Detaljer jag redan berättat för hotellet gällande saker på rummet jag inte var nöjd med. Priset var alldeles för högt i relation till upplevelse. Det tråkiga med Zanzibar är att utanför den skyddade världen hotellen erbjuder är det just inte så mkt mer. Så gillar du att hänga på hotell och fina stränder och åka på havsutflykter så visst men det riktiga Zanzibar blev vi mest ledsna över att se. Sophantering och miljö är något som Tanzania borde ta tag i!!

I had an amazing hotel stay with friendly staff and clean, spacious rooms. The customer service was exceptional, and the comfortable amenities contributed to a pleasant experience. The hotel's convenient location and efficient check-in/out process were also noteworthy. Nonetheless, my stay was highly enjoyable, thanks to the attentive staff and the comfortable, well-maintained accommodations.

I am not sure if the hotel could be responsible for that but the road that led us to the hotel was miserable, this could improve the tourist experience if the hotel could fix this issue.
