The tented camps were nice.

No bar fridge, would have liked a small private braaier infront of tent.

The lodge is situated on the banks of the Vaal river… exceptional view…

We only like the view

When we got there the room was filled with insexts, mosquitosand spiders. We were bitten by spiders. The balcony was dirty and full of cigarette buds everywhere. The room was not clean, the walls were dirty and the room didn't smell good. The accomadation is nothing like advertised on the website. Not up to expectations. There was no restaurant even though the website seemed like there was. We will never stay there again. The people were not friendly what an awful getaway !!!

I expected it to have more of a river front to enjoy the scenery. I find the photographs of the property misleading.

Where do we start. Lets explore the good points. The tents are well constructed and the water pressure is good. Let me start by leaving you with this thought. Rather finish the place before allowing more guests to stay there. Lets discuss the advert (Some extractions).. before i elaborate about the interior. Tent Price for 2 Beds: 2 twin beds or 1 king bed Garden view / Pool view Inner courtyard view / Patio - This Garden view not special at all, Unplastered walls, as well as what seems like temporarily closed drains. Electrical wires running over grass. areas not maintained and muddy at best. See attached pictures - The Pool is unfinished and dirty. As per attached pictures - We booked a king bed and found 2 single beds moved together - The floor of the unit is not a smoothed cement giving a finished look, it is raw cement. You actually have to sit on bed and wipe your feet from sand before putting them on the bed. - There is no fridge - There was no rubbish bin - Aparantly the tents are to far from the Wifi so no Wifi - We were given two battery lights so no Backup power. Two bedlights was all there was in the room no globe in light on top hanging down. - We found cups but no spoons, - Inside nothing is painted just raw plaster (Pics) - In order to hide the raw plaster celing boards are nailed to the wall. One fell on us when touching it on entry See pics - The toilet was not permanently mounted to the floor as it moved when sat upon - White towels are brownish - As an added bonus, within 100 meters of this area there is a pig farming area. The rooms lacked essential items. Like plugs for phone charges. The spa was dirty and looked abandoned.

Everything was fine and clean and the staff was generally friendly

we had booked for the weekend 18-19th of which Parys was experiencing floods and we had to be evacuated because the lodge is in-front of the river. basically we did not do any of the staff we had planned to do, none of them. It should be stated on the website that their restaurant is no longer operational and they only cater for breakfast. The place is beautiful but we did not even sleep there, i honestly feel like the owe us that one night, yea the situation was out of their hands but they are the establishment, we did not get value for our money.

The lights in my room were flickering the whole night and I couldn't switch them off. The aircon was not working as well in my room.

The view is awesome. Judy upgraded us from the tents (which look great) to the main room due to the rain. Bonus for Valentines for my hubby and I - thank you Judy. Henry was amazing. Very helpful, friendly - a real gem! The sunsets were great and it was peaceful. Pool is sparkling blue. Henry ensured we always had charged emergency lights. Leandri at the spa was great. She is friendly and offers great value for money. A massage listening to the sounds of birds and the river - amazing!

We got more than we expected, so there was nothing to dislike. The Spa needs a little love, but Leandri is great.

Breakfast was really good. Setting and location was nice. View was pretty. Pool was nice. Staff very friendly and willing to help.

Cleanliness was poor. Cigarette buds were found on the balcony. A lot of flies in the room. Aircon is underpowered for the size room. Wifi didn't work. Outside chairs, tables and braai were covered in spider webs and dirty. Bathroom needed work (shower drain partially clogged, loose fittings). Breakfast was charged extra.

We had to request a fan, so suggestion would be that they add a fan in the tented accommodation.

The place is wonderful, welcoming and a must return to. The presence of the river is inviting, calming, and good to look at. The pool is a good size and includes one for the little ones to play with water. The presence of the table and chairs outside is inviting for outdoor seating either by the pool or while looking at the river flow. The rooms are spacious with a super king bed and all the necessary amenities. The breakfast is filling and the staff is friendly, assistive, and ready to listen to your food requests. Should you feel like eating out for lunch or dinner (especially a romantic dinner), try O'S restaurant in Parys town (10 minute's drive).

The main challenge was no mark leading to the lodge after the dust road. Luckily we had read other people's reviews and knew what to expect. If we can suggest, place two more signs directing to the lodge after the entrance to the lodge.
