Nice atmosphere, lovely host, nice street view from window, good bathroom

This hotel is located within the historic walls and there’s not really a bad location within the historic walls… the whole little town was enormously charming. But, even still, our location was even better because we were above a restaurant where we ended up eating a delicious dinner and being waited on by the feral cat in love with our waitress. The interior was really lovely – white dabbed walls and dark wood trim. Our room felt clean and modern, reasonably spacy. This was probably the biggest bathroom and shower we encountered in Portugal – lovely. We liked that the lobby offered fruit, coffee, and tea. The manager let us keep our baggage in the lobby for a bit and was generally very nice.

While she was communicative as we were traveling there, her communication was a bit confusing, first implying that she was picking us up at the train and then not – it may have been a language barrier. It was also complicated that she had to travel from her home north of Obidos to let us in, such that we had to closely coordinate arrival time – it seems they could arrange a lockbox or something. In related information, guests to this place should know that the train station is permanently closed so when you arrive, you’re not sure you’ve arrived to the right spot. You’re also a good few miles from the town walls and can only hope and pray a taxi is there waiting for potential train drop-offs, because the taxi numbers on the wall are not up to date. Lucky for us, Tony the taxi guy was hanging out and drove us in... and ended up driving us to Nazare the next day ($30 euros) … because, in another fact tourists should know, there are no buses or trains on Sundays from or to Obidos.

The whole experience was like a dream. This gorgeous little guesthouse is inside the magical walls of Obidos. It is literally in the center of the village, a couple minutes walk from the castle itself, and yet still very quiet. By day the town comes alive with charming tourists and locals (at least in our case, as there was a chocolate festival going on). The room was extremely clean and the bed was super comfortable. A pellet stove in the common area and space heaters in the room kept us toasty on a chilly night. The house itself is beautifully decorated and coffee, tea, etc. is on hand. We were very late to check in due to car problems and the hostess was very gracious and met us after midnight (don't suggest doing this!) - thank you so much!!! Cannot wait to return!

The location was amazing! It was directly in the center of everything so I was able to shop around and return to my room back and forth easily as I needed. The owner was extremely hospitable and responded to me right away using WhatsApp whenever I had any questions.

Situated in the city center. The host was very kind. She offered us water, tea and biscuits. Cozy and medieval vibes. Good price for what the house offers.

There were some problems with the wi-fi and also with the toilet. No hot water and no water for the wc.

Located in the center of historical area. Very clean, you can help yourself with coffee, tea, snacks. Host is helpful.

The room is extremely small, it’s so small that you can hardly walk around the room.

Small bathroom and there is no air conditioning so you need to keep the windows open, but there is noise from the restaurant downstairs so we didn’t sleep very well.

The location is perfect, right within the castle walls. The hosts were very nice and available. The room is quite small, but the bed is big, and you get a private bathroom. It was great that we could use the fridge and some cutlery downstairs. Would be even better if there was a stove/cooking facilities!

Staff was really nice. Clean room, great location. Highly recommended!

There was a communal space with a fridge where we could eat. And the hall upstairs had a nice couch and chairs. Exactly what you miss when travelling. The atmosphere and decoration of it all was really nice.

Great location inside Óbidos village walls. Comfortable rooms with the medieval subject. Simple but nice decoration that keeps you in the environment of the village.

Rooms are small, but not surprising in the location. Not a problem, but need to mention the outside temporary works, but proper warning was given before reservation, so we were already aware.

This little guesthouse is in a perfect location in the town. The owner met us and was kind and helpful, and we felt very at home.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Foral Guest House. Everything was clean and seemed very well taken care of. There was free tea, coffee and water for the guests. Besides of that the guests are always allowed to use cutlery and plates, as well as the fridge. The Check-in was uncomplicated and nice, Nini is very friendly and welcoming. Great location in middle of the little streets of Óbidos. Restaurants, handicraft shops and much more things to explore (for example the castle of Obidos).
