Excellent good old fashioned Irish welcome by gracious hosts Frances and Martin, who run an excellent, well looked after clean property with warmth and charm. A lovely quiet property - The other guests were a mixture of couples and families with pre-teen children. One young couple had their dog travelling with them and while you might expect a noisy night with dogs and young children, we had restful sleeps for all four nights.

Very hard to find fault as the establishment is well run and cared for by the owners who live on site and go the extra km/mile for their visitors.

Great welcome - comfortable facilities, clean & spacious rooms, fantastic cooked Irish Breakfast in the morning, situated in a beautiful setting & wonderful views: overall great value for money!

The property has everything needed for a comfortable stay - we were a little unlucky with the Wifi/Internet on the day of our stay (it had a temporary glitch which our hosts were addressing) but this didn't affect our enjoyment of the venue.

An excellent overnight stay. I was greeted with a lovely smile and a warm welcome. After being shown to my room I was offered some tea and coffee,a real first for me,outside of the facilities offered in the room. A really comfy room and bed made for a lovely nights sleep and to wake up to absolute silence was a real treat. A sensational breakfast followed,great choice and very keen service. I will definitely be back again.

The place are amazing and the owners is extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast was brilliant 👏 Coffee machine in the corridor so you can make a coffee ☕️ 😋. For my is a big plus. + because I like start my day with good coffee. Instant coffee aswell in the room. Definitely recommend 👌 Thank you ❤️

A beautiful play to stay with all the comforts of home and more. Frances was really welcoming and so friendly, arranging for tea on our arrival. We had a lovely evening meal on the evening of our arrival and the breakfasts were 5*. Thank You so much!! You made a sad trip home comfortable and relaxing

Breakfast was five star. The welcome and service was exceptional. For dog owners this place is ideal and very welcoming. Locations that allow dogs in the area is very rare and if they do they add a further premium. This does not apply here.

There was nothing to dislike. As advertised.

Frances, the proprietor very helpful and friendly. Gave us both a glass of wine on the house😊. Happy to help us in any way. Genuine person.

Frances was just lovely made me feel at home, they couldn't do enough for you. Room spacious and clean, food was delicious. A quiet location and loved the surrounding area. I would definitely recommend Melvin Country House for a stay.

Great views over Lough Melvin. Easy parking and Lola the dog enjoyed her stay away too. Her first time in a different place, she even had a playmate in Gypsy. Breakfast plentiful and a great variety available. Great value and comfy beds.

Lovely property and very welcoming hosts - the whole family were very welcoming to me, plus a cup of tea and biscuits on arrival (I can’t guarantee this though). The room was large and very spacious, good comfortable bed, and a great view out of the window. The dining areas and lounge were equally spacious and comfortable, so much so a longer stay would have been great. The advice on where to re-fuel was good and balanced, and the Riverside pub was good for food, albeit slightly lacking in innovation or anything that wasn’t frozen, but it was cooked as good as is possible. Breakfast in Melvin CH was very good, full Irish on offer and it was again well cooked. Plenty of private parking for people staying here. The trip to Garrison as the nearest point for fuel was fine on a bike and is very walkable, except you might want to carry a light if going in the dark, it’s quite a fast road with no pavement. Not much else to do in Garrison tbh, but some great walking and view points around, and a good area for cycling with a number of waymarked routes.

Little not to like, but the coffee machine in the hall needs either refreshing or removing (there was separate tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms). The lighting in the bathroom is acceptable, but a bit dull and depressing, maybe just needs bigger bulbs?

Food and attitude were well worth the money.

Very few walks in the local area,however hotel and owners are first class.
