This had to be one of our most favourites properties on our visit. The whole vibe is very serene and calming, plus the pool is open throughout the night which is perfect! The staff was super helpful and friendly :)

Would have appreciated more variety in the breakfast, as opposed to the same menu every day. The bungalow we stayed in, while being quite big does not have a powerful enough air-conditioner (also cos the whole room is quite open and you cannot do anything about it).

We loved the location of the property. it was 15 minutes walk to the beach but with a free tuk-tuk if you didn’t want to walk. This meant that the only noise pollution was from the wildlife and birds which was plentiful. The hotel was well appointed and we had a Sunrise room and could lay in bed or sit in the balcony and watch the sun come up and listen to nature waking up. The food for breakfast was superb with much to choose from and great service. The pool is large and warm. One morning we took a ride along the canal at 7am (arranged by the hotel) which was bliss. There is free tea and coffee and cake all day.

There was a power cut one day and the generator wasn’t working.

they asked us to pay immediately upon arrival in cash for part of the money they had already taken out from our bank account . I will never go back there and avoid anybody to avoid this place

Really nice room, the staff were extremely friendly and you can see lots of wildlife! Be prepared to be visited by (friendly) monkeys!

Very serene and peaceful location surrounded by a lush garden. The bungalow was spacious and beutiful with a nice terrace. Staff very kind and helpful. Clearly a lot of love and care have gone into creating this little oasis. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Located in a secluded spot outside of Mirissa but easy walk or Tuk Tuk - lovely rooms, breakfast, balcony and swimming pool.

The place is absolutely wonderful. With a bit of luck you can even see some animals in the water or trees nearby and some fireflies at night make the place magical. There is a free tuktuk service to the main road until 7pm which is very helpful and walking takes about 15-20 minutes (quite a pretty walk). The staff is the sweetest, bringing you a welcoming drink on your arrival, carrying your suitcases and always making sure you have what you need. They also provided some recommendations about Mirissa. Overall a great place to relax since you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.

Wonderful hotel. Second time we stayed howver this time in the main house. Great for those that enjoy the eco tourism vibe. Pathways surrounded by vegetation immersing you in the fauna and flora of Sri Lanka. Room was very nice and the bed super comfortable. Swimming pool is still gorgeous. Breakfast was amazing with plenty of Sri Lankan options as well as fruit options. Some western elements were provided. We arrived earlier than our check-in time but staff were able to let us stay and use facilities until room was ready. Same for check-out. We were able to use facilities (had to leave room though) until our departure. Pick up and drop off from Mirissa train station was available. Perfect place for couples!

A beautiful property surrounded by an amazing botanical garden and wild life (monkeys, peacocks, different birds..). From our nicely designed and decorated room, we could listen to the relaxing sounds of nature. The swimming pool was very beautiful. Staff was friendly and offered a tasty breakfast with everything needed.

What an incredible place! We were surprised in the best way possible when we arrived in D Canal House. The house is truly breathtaking (architecture, swimming pool, room, garden). Our stay felt as authentic as luxurious and we cannot stop thinking about the breakfast cooked by the kind Pria. Everyone was lovely and available if needed. We wished we could have stayed longer!

D Canal is a great place to stay in Mirissa. You can walk into the town in 10 minutes or it is a short tuk tuk ride away. They provide a free tuk tuk to the town between 10am and 7pm which is a great extra. The accommodation is beautiful, like a secret little oasis. There is a great pool (with towels provided) and pretty garden and it was a nice touch having free water, tea and coffee. The rooms were very spacious and the bathroom was a great size with a good shower. The staff are very friendly also. Very good value for money.

The rooms are so hot! I think it is the material they are built from but it was so hot in there and as the room (with bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and dressing room) was all open plan, it was a big space for just one air conditioning machine to keep it cool. Unfortunately with the power cuts (not the fault of D Canal of course) it meant the air conditioning wasn't on for very long and we couldn't get the room cool enough to sleep well there.

I especially liked the design of bungalo and the territiry of hotel. The host was super polite and we were allowed to pay cash for the hotel. The territiry of hotel is amasing, like the real jungle. However, if you don`t sleep well like me, be prepared that birds and bats(or whoever it was) are very loud all night singing their songs. We`ve seen two mongooses near our room, lovely. Nice pool, and personal terrace with Wi-fi router, internet was good and i think worked even when the lights were shut down. I wish we had more time in this place!

Hotel located in the middle of the nature, very peaceful, rooms are well decorated. We enjoyed the tour on the river, it was a very relaxing moment. The pool is beautiful, no many people and you can have a swim at night. You can easily access the city by foot, even at night in 15 minutes (you just need a light source).

Noise from the forest at night, we were personally fine with that but it can annoy certain people. The rest was perfect.

Way too far out from the main beach, and extremely difficult to find, particularly if walking back at night. literally down down off the track paths with no lighting.
