Our stay at the chateau was magical. Edoaurd and Alexia are such wonderful hosts, and the chateau and grounds are stunning. We had multiple catered meals, horse rides, and pony rides (my daughter loved it!) and everything was excellent. Because the chateau is Edouard’s family home, it feels extra warm and welcoming - the paintings of his family down through the generations that are hung throughout the house are wonderful. I was there with my husband and two children (3 y/o and 1 y/o), mother and father in-law, and 4 friends, and we had the best time there. We played some croquet on the lawn, went for pretty walks around the grounds, enjoyed the kids play area (not sure I recall seeing it pictured but it was such a hit with the kids!) and generally just enjoyed the place. I recalled reading a review that described it as “life giving” and I think that’s probably the best summary. The only negative was the very end, when the cleaners came before check out to start cleaning for the next guests, and they kept blocking the door when we were trying to get our bags into the taxi and they didn’t speak English so couldn’t understand me when I asked them to please just clean a different area for a few minutes while we left. I suspect it was a communication error with Edouard as he apparently asked my father in law if the cleaners could come early and he was fine with it since he was leaving at 9am, but I felt a bit frustrated by that as I was the host of the stay and I was not leaving until 10am and things are always a bit hectic with two little kids when packing and getting ready for a flight, so that plus trying to weave around cleaners and all the rest just added to it in a frustrating way. I wish they had coordinated the check-out and cleaning changes with me as the host, but I think it was just communication mistake as Alexia and Edoaurd are so nice and they had built a rapport with my friends and family as well and felt comfortable coordinating things directly with them, but it just didn’t work well that time. Anyhow, all the rest was absolutely fantastic and I can’t speak highly enough of this chateau. I highly recommend it and hope we can visit them again one day! The whole week was like a dream and I hope we are lucky enough to get to experience it again one day.

The house is absolutely amazing. Very traditional, a little rustic, a ton of charm. Quiet dinners, party all night and a relaxing day at the pool or on a horseback. Everything is possible and Edouard and Alexia help you with everything you could wish for. A perfect host for a perfect place. We were 20 people celebrating my birthday for one week and we fell in love with the place a little more each day. All in our 30s and experienced in renting big houses - this was the one with the most charm so far.

If I can have my choice I prefer to stay at hotels because of the consistency of the experience. This stay might bring me back to house rentals more often. Edouard and his wife are very kind and helpful. They made the entire process of arriving to leaving enjoyable. I hope to bring my extended family back.

We just left Chateau de Bouthonvillier, and all I can say is WOW. We hosted a photography event here, and we couldn't have been more impressed. The property is amazing. If you like old, historic buildings with lots of charm and beautiful antiques, this is the place for you. Every room was gorgeous and staying here made us feel like we had stepped back in time (but with all the comforts of the modern day!). Eduoard and Alexia were incredible hosts as well. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and tended to our every need. We also had all our meals catered through the chateau, and they were delicious. I really can't say enough good things about our stay. We would highly recommend Chateau de Bouthonvilliers to anyone!

We were two families with a total of 6 children from 1 to 9 years old. Despite the weather being slightly cooler than normal for the time of year, we had a wonderful stay relaxing in the amazing house and gardens, and by the pool. We only felt the need for a couple of half-day trips to nearby towns. Edouard and Alexia were very welcoming and friendly. In short - definitely recommended!

Our week at Château de Bouthonvilliers was the most magical, memorable, life-giving experience of my life. After the pandemic cancelled my partner's and my original wedding plans, we pivoted and decided to have a week-long wedding celebration, with about 30 guests, the next year at Château de Bouthonvilliers. It was truly one of the best decisions we have made together! The chateau and surrounding grounds are otherworldly beautiful – soaking in the beauty of every corner of the estate, being enveloped by centuries of history of Edouard's family – literally brought tears to my eyes countless times over the week. We had an absolute blast with our friends and family. Although we did a few day trips to nearby towns Chartes and Châteaudun, I am convinced you could never leave the property and remain entertained forever – between biking, fishing, horseback riding, swimming, walking, there are countless activities to keep busy. Edouard and Alexia are truly the most gracious and accommodating hosts that you could ever ask for. We opted for the catered dinners each night, which were above and beyond in terms of service and deliciousness. We had so much fun hanging out with Edouard and learning stories about the chateau's history. We cannot thank Edouard enough for opening up his ancestral home to us – it was such a generous gift to be married in a place with such history. We felt the love of centuries of marriages past as we said our vows. Our friends and family all agree we need to make it back to Château de Bouthonvilliers someday. Nous avons passé un moment magique dans ce superbe château rempli d’histoire , son sublime parc avec ses arbres magnifiques. Alexia et Edouard nous ont accueilli merveilleusement bien et nous ont fait sentir comme chez nous dans leur splendide château. Petits et grands ont passé un séjour très confortable avec de l’espace et du confort pour tous. Tout est là à disposition pour passer un merveilleux séjour.....Nous ne voulions plus repartir et comptons bien revenir.

We had the most amazing time at Chateau de Bouthonvilliers! Edouard and Alexia feel like family. They always answered all my emails quickly and were incredibly kind with helping me plan my dream wedding all the way from Toronto Canada. The chateau has so much original charm. Yes there are some areas in the house that look her age but it doesn't take away from her beauty. Edouard will offer you or your group a tour of the property, do this near the start of your stay. The rest of the week you will appreciate your surroundings so much more! Edouard is working his way through upgrading the chateau with still keeping the original workings of the home. The catering company is amazing! Trying to find the same meal for 22 guest to eat I thought would be very hard but with food this good everyone enjoyed every meal. We had 3 dinners catered and each was better than the one before. We used the chateau and the Gite for our 22 guest and it was very spacious, every amenities that you could want or need are already there for you. If you do forget something there is a fantastic supermarket only 10 min drive away in Brou. There are so many incredible day excursions to do with in only a couple hour drive! If you like horses Alexia will saddle up a horse for you. My friend and I went on a beautiful relaxing tour of the grounds via horse back. It was just a really nice afternoon stroll. I cannot say enough about this family or the venue. We were lucky enough to stay for 8 days and I will feel homesick for life! I truly hope that my husband and I will be able to go back again. We said for 10 year anniversary we will come back with our group. I am counting down the days! I cannot forget to shout out Nuts. Edouard's chocolate lab is the sweetest girl out there. We all had the most wonderful time at the chateau because of Eduard and his family. They made us feel right at home whether swimming, playing games or riding horses. Every morning he delivered fresh eggs for breakfast and every night we had an incredible french meal prepared by his chef. We never had to go to a restaurant so we could relax, enjoy the family and living at the chateau with its wonderful history. We spent an amazing week at this wonderful castle together with extended family and friends. The castle is very well preserved with lots of historical remnants. The kitchen is modern with a giant gas oven, nespresso-machine, microvave oven etc. There’s lots of porcelain, glasses and equipment to make your own food. We did some nice cooking and in addition we had some served brunches and dinner which were very good indeed. Served by the loveliest ladies. The hosts, Alexia and Edouard are really very nice and helpful with just everything. We really enjoyed the tours where Edouard guided us around the domains, teaching us relevant history. One day we took a ride on the bikes provided, beautiful landscapes everywhere. Another day we took a trip to Paris and we also made some trips to the charming cities of Brou, Chateaudun, Bonvalle and Dangeau. We really recommend this paradise!

Nous nous sommes sentis tout de suite comme dans notre maison de famille. Nous avons fait des ballades quotidiennes dans le parc très bien entretenu et nous avons visité les villages aux alentours..

We had an amazing time at Chateau Bouthonvilliers! The chateau is enchanting, the park is peaceful, the pool is relaxing and Edward is charming. Edward provided breakfasts for us (extra charge) and 3 dinners (extra charge). The dinner were among the best meals we had in France. Edward wants his guests to have a true french country experience. We loved our stay!

Chateau Bouthonvilliers was a unique and elegant experience. We three couples had the entire place to ourselves, and enjoyed the beautiful sitting rooms, outdoor sitting space (for our cocktail wines) and the pool. While it has been updated with later 20th century electric and plumbing, it looks much as it must have looked in the late 19th century. If you want a Four Seasons style of modernity, then this may not be the place for you. If you appreciate architecture and history, and the style of French country living, then this is a great option. The location was great for us - half hour from Chartes, and a longer drive (hour and a half) to the big chateaus along the Loire river (Cheverny, Chenouceau, Chambord, etc.). Only five minutes from the charming town to Brou (restaurants and groceries) and about 15 minutes from Chateaudun, which has a don't-miss late middle ages chateau. The stay was made tremendous by Edouard, the owner, who lives about 100 yards from the main house. He looked after our every need and made our stay easy and comfortable. We had him provide us simple breakfasts each day (croissants, coffee, yogurst, etc.) and did three of our dinners there. They were, frankly, the best three meals we had during our 10 nights in France. Whether you do the buffet or a gourmet dinner, Edouard's preparation, care and quality are something you should not miss.

La propriété est aussi belle à l’intérieur qu'à l’extérieur et la prestation excellente pour un groupe ou une famille. Un très grand nombre de chambres et de grandes belles pièces pour se retrouver. L’environnement est grand, arboré, calme et bien entretenu par le propriétaire. Région très sympa avec plein de choses à faire. Nous avons passé une semaine de vacances très agréable et conserverons un très bon souvenir de l’accueil chaleureux du propriétaire.

Qui n'a jamais rêvé de vivre la vie de château ! Nous avons eu cette chance en famille pour les vacances de Pâques grâce à l'accueil prévenant des propriétaires. Des volumes hors norme décorés avec goût, un parc immense pour des balades à pied et de nombreuses activités pour les enfants ie pêche dans l'étang, cueillette des légumes dans le potager ou baignade dans la piscine ... sans compter les nombreuses visites à proximité telle que la Cathédrale de Chartres ou les châteaux de la Loire. Une vraie semaine de détente dans un havre de paix !! Mention spéciale pour le délicieux civet de lapin que nous avez préparé le maître des lieux pour l'anniversaire de notre dernière fille. Merci pour tout.

Séjour dans une vraie maison de famille, une suite de pièces de réception de plain pied où tout est joli : les volumes, les boiseries, le mobilier, le parc. Il est merveilleux d'y recevoir ses amis (ou sa famille). Une maison pour devenir poète ou chasseur (ou les 2). Un grand nombre d'escapades possibles. Détente assurée. A recommander chaudement.

Ayant passé de multiples séjours au Château de Bouthonvillier, à chaque fois je suis épaté par le service sans compter le maintien de ce lieu idyllique. Le calme, le service, la région, les moments de détente autour de la piscine et le confort des chambres vales le détour.

La vie de château à quelques encablures de Paris. De jeunes propriétaires charmants! Le cadre est magnifique et le château très bien entretenu. nous avons passé un séjour plus qu'agréable.

Lieu authentique, très beau cachet. Les jeunes propriétaires sont très accueillants et partagent avec enthousiasme l'histoire de leur propriété familiale. Petit bémol sur la literie mais qui devait apparemment être changée avant cet été.

Nous avons passé un merveilleux séjour avec notre famille dans ce château magnifique situé dans un cadre enchanteur. Ce lieu représente parfaitement le style de vie à la française : décoration Renaissance, historique du lieu, beauté des jardins et des environs et cuisine de la région. Le propriétaire Edouard nous a très bien accueilli et a eu à cœur de nous faire découvrir sa superbe propriété et les atouts de sa région. Il a été très à l'écoute de nos demandes tout au long de notre séjour et sa courtoisie, sa bonne humeur, nous ont permis de passer des vacances très agréables. C'est a l'occasion d'une réunion de vieux copains que nous avons découvert Bouthonvillier. Nous sommes tombés sous le charme de cette magnifique propriété des notre arrivée. L'allée de poiriers, le parc et ses arbres centenaires, une chapelle romantique. Le paysage est enchanteur. Puis nous avons été transporté dans le temps après quelques pas a l'intérieur de la maison, la visite du grand salon nous a laissés bouche bée ! Notre hôte a été au petit soin pour nous, une personne charmante qui nous a réellement transmis sa passion pour cette belle demeure. D'un point vue pratique, les chambres et les sdb sont simples mais tres confortables, le diner nous a été impeccablement servi et nous avons pu profiter d'un brunch ensoleillée avant de reprendre la route. La encore, rien a dire, c'est parfait. Nous reviendrons a Bouthonvilliers c'est certain. Merci encore a Thérese et Edouard pour leur accueil ! Bertrand
