Parking is not close by. Restaurant of the hotel was closed. Pictures of the room didn’t match with the reality.

It's rather interesting to stay in a "castle", as hotel located in cathedral complex in a very heart of Meissen. Choosing such stay you have to be prepared leaving your car in a car park down the hill and climbing to your bed by foot or being lucky to catch elevator (1 EUR for 1 drive). Room GOETHE was spacious and comfortable, with all necessary equipment. Beds were good and lining savored with freshness. Some restaurants at few steps reach, but better to have reservation to avoid starving. Downtown offer more choices, but again - have to be lucky if no reservation in advance. Breakfast offers not a very wide choice of meals, but still it's sufficient to start a day.

Front desk ladies should learn few words in English, as communication for non-German speaking tourist is quite messy. We came earlier and were asked to leave our luggage in a conference room as booked room was not prepared for the stay (not a problem). After we came back in a few hours, front desk lady wanted to be kind and started talking (we guess, as did not clearly understood) about welcome drink with choice: water, juice, sect. What? We already were there earlier. This astonished us and we refused. Later she tried explaining how to find our room (mainly on fingers). She sowed the way through the yard. Later we found our room easy access through the hotel. This is not a big deal, but image of hotel is spoiled.

Room was very nice, location very good, breakfast variaus and very good with champane.

The hotel restaurant service was terrible. We waited over 20 mins before even being asked what drinks we would like. Menu outside showed one thing, but inside it was a different story. The waiter's attitude was ‘well too bad, this is what we have’. We asked for the desert menu, but waited so long I ended up getting it myself. The final straw was having asked for bill, 15 mins later I had to go look for staff in order to pay. Finally the view over Meissen is a feature of the hotel restaurant, but is overrated, all you can see are rooftops.

The location was perfect - nestled in the heart of old town with a panorama of the city

The beds were of old springs and felt horrible on the back.

Very romantic Hotel with a great view of Meissen. Big and comfortable room. Close to Albrechtsburg. Easy check in and out. Very welcoming staff in the reception. We liked everything and will came back.
